Chapter Text
Cloven hooves clopped down the carpeted stairs quickly, frantically even as the owner of them made his way into the hotel's lobby. He stopped at the bottom of the last step and bent over with his hands on his knees, panting and gasping as he tried to catch his breath. It hadn't even been a minute before his deer like ears twitched at the sound of footsteps heading down the same steps he had just ran down. Groaning, Jeffrey forced himself upright to search the lobby for a hiding place. Just as he spotted one however, a pair of familiar but unwelcome arms wrapped around him in a hug from behind, causing him to flinch.
"Guess who?" a sultry voice cooed as the hands slid closer to his clothed manhood.
At this Jeffrey tore away from the spider's hold and faced her, his visible eye narrowed into a glare and his lion like tail swishing wildly.
"Ooh, I just love that look on you," she almost purred, fluttering her eyelashes.
"What do you want, Summer?" Jeffrey growled through clenched teeth, his vampire like fangs glinting.
"Hmm? Why, nothing special, of course, just..." the spider trailed off as she approached the unicorn, her lustful eyes glancing down at his manhood then back into his glare.
"Not gonna happen," Jeffrey deadpanned, his woodsy, southern accent showing a bit.
"I can make it worth your while," Summer purred while licking her lips seductively.
"Not interested," Jeffrey remarked as he turned to walk away.
Summer's eyes narrowed into a dangerous glare, "Wrong answer," she growled.
The unicorn had only gotten a few feet away before he heard footsteps approaching from behind him and two pairs of arms wrapped around his body once more. An exasperated sigh escaped his throat.
"Summer, I'm-," the unicorn was abruptly cutoff as the spider put her hand over his mouth and sunk her venomous teeth into his neck.
At this Jeffrey shoved her off him, wincing as he placed a hand over the bite. Within seconds he began to feel a burning sensation in his neck and his vision was starting to blur.
"You know better than to refuse me, Jeffrey," Summer growled.
The last thing Jeffrey saw was the spider's malicious smile before the venom caused him to succumb to the darkness. After what seemed like forever he came to, jolting upright and hyperventilating.
"Easy, Jeffrey, a familiar voice said.
Jeffrey blinked his eyes furiously so that he could see who was beside him, his breathing not slowing.
"Shh, you're safe now," the voice assured as a soft hand began caressing his head.
He flinched from the touch at first but as his vision cleared he saw that the owner of said hand was his girlfriend.
"R-Rae?" he stuttered.
Rayne nodded and continued her caressing, a small smile gracing her features when Jeffrey eased into it.
"Wh-where's Summer?" the unicorn asked, his dark orbs frantically darting around the room.
"I got Charlie to chase her away and Angel helped me move you to the couch," the filly replied.
"O-oh. How long was I out?" he asked.
"For about an hour, give or take a few," Rayne answered.
Jeffrey nodded, absent mindedly placing his hand where he was bitten and finding that it was already wrapped up.
"I made sure to doctor it and everything," Rayne assured him, her hand going from caressing his head to his cheek.
At this action Jeffrey couldn't help but close his eyes and bring one of his hands to rest on her's. Being a very touch averse person usually he found it perplexing how he sometimes nowadays craved Rayne's touch. Never in a sexual way but in a comforting and affectionate one. Upon opening his eyes again he noticed that her smile had grown softer and he realized that a purring sound was coming from his throat. A blush dusted his cheeks as Rayne giggled at this and he averted his eyes, suddenly finding his lap interesting.
"Oh!" Rayne exclaimed, "I've never seen that before."
Curious as to what caught the filly's attention Jeffrey followed her gaze, his blush growing deeper when he realized what she was looking at.
"I knew you were a unicorn but since you have a more human appearance I never thought you'd have an actual horn," Rayne remarked, her eyes fixated on the grayish white horn protruding from the faded purple star on his forehead.
"I've had it ever since I died," the unicorn quipped.
"How come I haven't seen it until now?" Rayne asked.
"Because I hide it with my magic. Summer's venom most likely weakened my powers," he stated.
"Oh. Why do you hide it?" she asked.
"To protect myself from demons like Valentino," he answered somberly, crossing his arms over his chest.
He froze suddenly and his eyes widened when he felt a warm hand upon his horn.
"It feels kind of rough but velvety at the same time," Rayne chirped, gently petting it.
"Y-you like it then?" Jeffrey asked, trying his best to not flinch.
"Yes," she answered.
"Even though it technically makes me more feminine because of what I am," the unicorn stated.
"You shouldn't have to hide yourself, regardless of Valentino or anyone else," she said.
A small, kind of awkward smile graced Jeffrey's features at her words.
"I actually find your horn really cute," Rayne cooed, gently booping the tip of it.
The unicorn's dark, star filled eyes widened at this comment and a deep blush covered his cheeks as a dark purplish magic emitted from his horn.
"Oh! How beautiful," she exclaimed, her tail swishing.
"Beautiful? How so?" Jeffrey asked, tilting his head.
"Because it may be dark but just like your eyes it carries stars within it," she said before leaning in and planting a soft kiss on his lips.
Jeffrey flinched at this but began to kiss back, shakily running his fingers through her hair. After a moment he gently pulled away, his bangs falling into his eyes as he took a shaky breath.
"You okay?" Rayne asked, concern lacing her voice.
"Y-yeah. Just... still getting used to us being a couple," he remarked.
"Is that it or is there more to it?" she asked.
The unicorn shook his head, "There's more but I... I don't want to talk about it right now," he murmured, wrapping his arms around himself in a hug like he was protecting himself.
"I understand," Rayne nodded, beginning to brush his bangs from one of his eyes, "Just know that I'm always here for you."
"Th-thanks, Rae," Jeffrey stuttered, "S-same here."
The unicorn averted his gaze once more as he began to feel his nerves again, wondering if it'll always be this way.
