Dio's Normal Adventure: Phantom Ketchup

Summary:

Phantom Blood but it's the 4Kids version and Dio isn't evil

Chapter Text

Once upon a time in England, a poor man named Dario Brando and his wife were taking a nice evening stroll when suddenly they noticed a wealthy man lying in the middle of the road. Uh-oh, that wasn’t very safe! Dario rushed to help the wealthy man to his feet and walked him across the street.

“Thank you so much!” said the wealthy man, whose name was George Joestar. “I had a little oopsie and fell down and scraped my knee. I’m sure glad you and your wife were there to help me!”

“Oh, it’s no problem!” said Dario. “We love to help people!”

Then the wealthy man pulled a big ring from his finger and gave it to Dario. “Take this as a token of my gratitude,” he said.

The ring was very valuable, and it helped Dario and his wife get out of poverty. After selling it, they were able to buy a nice house in the suburbs to raise their newborn baby Dio.

Dio was a very smart and talented boy. He always got good grades in school, and was very good at sports too! He made lots of friends, and his parents loved him very much.

Then one day, Dario got a job offer in a different part of England, so they were going to have to move. Dio was very sad about that. If they moved houses, then he would have to transfer schools and leave all his old friends behind! But then Dario told him the story about how he had helped George Joestar across the street twelve years ago, just before Dio was born. George was still very grateful to Dario, so he was going to let Dio stay at his house!

“I’ll miss you, Mom and Dad!” Dio said after he packed up his bags and hopped onto the carriage that would take him to the Joestars’ house.

“Goodbye! We love you, Dio!” said Dario, waving until they couldn’t see each other anymore.

Dio was looking forward to meeting the Joestars. Apparently George’s son Jonathan was the same age as him! Dio jumped out of the carriage excitedly as soon as it arrived at the house. He saw a boy with blue hair playing with a big dog by the porch, and he walked over to them.

“Oh! You must be Dio Brando!” said the boy.

“And you must be Jonathan Joestar,” said Dio.

“Everyone calls me Jojo though. Nice to meet you!”

Just then the dog from before, Danny, ran up to Dio. Dio got scared and almost kicked Danny, but Jonathan reassured him that he didn’t bite.

Then they all went inside and George showed Dio around the house. It was huge! Jonathan helped Dio carry his suitcase upstairs and he got settled in his new bedroom.

~

A few weeks passed. Dio was enjoying his new home, but there was one problem: Dio was such a smart and well-behaved young man that Jonathan started to get jealous of him! One night, Jonathan got sent to his room for eating like a pig in a trough, and he gave Dio a mean look as if it was his fault.

The day after that, Dio saw Jonathan having a boxing tournament with his friends and decided to join in. Jonathan was the reigning champ, but Dio defeated him easily. Then everyone clapped. Everyone except Jonathan.

Dio sighed. It was painful being so perfect sometimes. But still, he wished Jonathan could be happy too. If only he would just grow up and be more mature! Dio said a prayer for him, and soon it was answered. Jonathan’s mood seemed to improve drastically in only a few days. Dio wondered what happened to make him so happy all of a sudden, so he did a little investigating. He followed Jonathan home from school, and saw him talking to… a girl!!!

Uh-oh, thought Dio. Jojo is going to be in big trouble if Father finds out about this. He hasn’t even brought her home for supper!

While he was hiding behind a tree, Dio noticed a carving on the trunk. It said “Jojo + Erina” with a big heart around it. This is more serious than I thought. I need to talk to Erina and tell her she should stop seeing Jojo--for his own good!

Jojo finally said goodbye to Erina and ran off, and Dio came out from his hiding spot. “Hi. Are you Erina?” he asked her. The girl didn’t respond, but she had a guilty look in her eye. “You and Jojo look happy together. I knew something was up. He’s been happy lately, when he used to be sad!”

Erina tried to run away but Dio grabbed her arm to stop her. He knew this was going to be a difficult conversation, but it had to happen.

Suddenly, Dio tripped on a root from the tree and he and Erina accidentally kissed!

“Gee willikers, I am terribly sorry!” said Dio. “Wait… Have you and Jojo kissed yet?” Erina still didn’t say anything. He took that as a no. “Aww man, now I feel even worse…”

Just then, Dio saw a HUGE spider crawling across Erina’s face, so he tried to slap it off for her. But he was too strong, and accidentally pushed her into a muddy puddle. Why am I so clumsy today?! he thought.

Embarrassed with himself, he immediately went home and reported what happened to George. George said it was alright, but later Jonathan came storming into the living room while Dio was reading and tried to fight him.

“Why did you tell on me?!” Jonathan said angrily, swinging his fists.

Dio dodged the uncalled-for attack easily. “I did it for your own good, Jojo. We aren’t old enough to have girlfriends yet!”

But Jonathan wouldn’t listen. He kept trying to punch Dio! Dio tried to defend himself, but Jojo was too angry to give up. He bumped Dio in the head and made him fall down--right onto a bottle of ketchup!

The ketchup squirted all over Dio’s clothes and up onto the wall, where a silly-looking mask was hanging. When the silly mask got ketchup on it, a lot of spiky things came out of it and it fell onto the ground.

Dio started to cry. “Why are you being so mean to me?” he asked Jonathan sadly. All he ever wanted was to be friends.

Just then, George showed up. “What do you two think you’re doing?!” he chastised from the top of the stairwell. “Jojo, it looked as if you were attacking Dio as he lay there defenseless. That is not gentlemanly!”

“But--” said Jonathan.

“No excuses! Head to your room! And why is there a bottle of ketchup in the living room? Jojo, you need to put things back where they belong when you’re done with them.”

While Jonathan was grounded, Dio didn’t have anyone to talk to, so he decided to play with Jonathan’s dog Danny. They played fetch for a while and had a fun time, but then Danny tried to bite Dio! “Bad dog!” said Dio. He put Danny in time out so he would stop biting people.

But later, while nobody was home, Danny escaped from time out and ran away! Jonathan was very sad and blamed everything on Dio, even though it wasn’t his fault. After that, Dio and Jonathan decided to not be friends anymore.
