Chapter 1: I- New Beginnings

Chapter Text

The city was busy, clouds overcast. Passerbys huddled under their umbrellas, hurrying home. The shine of lights from the sea of cars on the Seoul highway were like comforting, a floating ocean of lights. A lone man dressed in pure black walked slowly along the streets, seemingly uncaring of the darkening sky and the growling rumble of thunder.

The year was 2010, and he was for a lack of a better word, bored out of his fucking mind. Today marked his 207th year alive and boy, he was not impressed. Humans were predictable and boring. Always tempted by greed, lure of fame and beautiful faces. Of course, it made life a lot easier for him but what was life without a little challenge?

He was in university again, having gotten bored of the life of a cardiothoracic surgeon in the States which had kept him entertained for the past 20 years. Having conjured the illusion of a heart attack amidst a minor surgery where he was the lead surgeon, he had watched in amusement from the shadows as the medical team had panicked as his body collapsed lifelessly onto the floor and was aggressively resuscitated for an hour before declaring him dead. Packing his bags, he took a flight back to Seoul, Korea, the land of his birth in which he had not stepped foot in for 60 years.

Seoul had greatly changed; the small stores and streets had given way to majestic skyscrapers and busy metropolitan highways. Where there once was a stark quietness after the sun set had given way to a wilderness that grew as the moon rose and a city that never slept. It suited his purposes, he supposed. Korea was a foreign place now, where it was once the poorest countries in the world for over a decade, industrialists had introduced manufacturing industries and a technological boom that had altered the country’s landscape. The educational system was rigorous with razor like competitiveness, where only the crème le crème and the children of chaebols having a foot through the door. With the rise of the Hallyu wave and empty promises of international success, young fresh faces were scrambling for chances to enter the glitzy world of fame for another chance for success.

His name was Kim Seokjin this time and he was a freshman studying a degree in art and acting.
