Work Text:
'he was the moon'
'he was the stars'
both so close and yet fated to be apart
jimin stared at the polaroid in his hand, at the black ink on the white back of the picture, and the way their smiles seemed to be so full of promise and joy.
'95z is love' - he had written on it, back in their last year of college.
they had sworn to be together...forever.
and yet now, as he stood at the airport waiting for the announcement to alert him of the arriving flight he wondered.
where had they gone wrong?
was it because jimin couldn't control his feelings? was it because he couldn't help but watch Tae and coo at his smiles like- some starstruck fan?
maybe it was because jimin lowered his guard, and let his feelings get the best of him. maybe it's because his love for Tae made the other uncomfortable and placed a barrier between them.
jimin couldn't recall the exact moment when their friendship started falling apart.
but when it did, jimin knew there was no going back.
tae decided to stay away from him, and pursue a career in modeling. he left jimin just a year after they moved in together.
it was horrible, abrupt and absolutely heartbreaking to watch tae walk out of the door, while waving at him and promising to update jimin once he joined the agency.
and jimin...of course jimin agreed to follow up.
how could he say no to the person he loved? even if it broke his heart in the process.
sometimes jimin wondered if there was such a thing as fates and soulmates. he wondered if there was such a beautiful red string that tied two people together, bringing them happiness.
because if there was, then why was he handed the short end of stick?
why couldn't his fated soulmate be tae? why couldn't his love for tae bloom and show his friend how much jimin cherished him
before he could continue with that thought, the overhead speaker came to life.
the announcement brought a small bubble of happiness in jimin.
even if he could never be together with taehyung, he still had contact with him. no matter their history, tae had agreed to meet him as soon as he landed in Seoul.
it was enough for jimin.
yes, it had to be enough.
- END
[A/N: I don't know why it turned out to be so depressing T_T I'm sorry. I'll try to write a happy one next time.]
