Chapter Text
Time after time after time after
Time.
It was a new type of agony to see Kim Dokja die so many times, the first death had left him devastated, so deep in his own sorrows that the only thing on his mind was to kill the 41st round Shin Yoosung. Never dawning on him that he was capable of having such stomach churning feelings deep-seated within his cold heart. He didn’t think he’d ever feel something so vehement, especially after the last two lives he’s lived. A sort’ve refreshing tide made its way into his life in the form of a raging wave, stripping him of all reason when it came to Kim Dokja. Though he wasn’t as irrational as he was back then, he sure as hell was losing his sanity now.
Three years, that was how long Kim Dokja had been missing for after the Demon King selection. When he had first woke up, he had tried contacting him through Midday tryst, only to be brought with a message saying:
[The constellation ‘Demon King of Salvation’ doesn’t exist in the Star Stream.]
At that moment, something just broke in Yoo Jonghyuk, an emptiness he had never experienced before swallowed him whole. Leaving the party, he went on to do things on his own, doing absolutely everything he could to forget about that constellation, but no matter what he tried, it didn’t work.
There he stood on the island of Yeouido, in front of him was an odd looking creature, the thing felt familiar, he wasn’t sure why.
Then the connection of midday tryst was restored, he soon got a message from the being in front of him, their name while using the skill was Ugly squid.
-Come on, sunfish.
-I am the king of the sea.
A skill that could only be used between set people, Yoo Jonghyuk lowered his weapon, eyes staring unwaveringly at the monster. Bathed in a vibrant blue which then turned a brilliant gold, he let out his status as a transcender, sword raised as he swung at the creature before him.
Oh, he damn knew well who this being is, he wasn’t so clueless to not realize that this is Kim Dokja, the very man he had been yearning for, for the past three years. They clashed multiple times, their swords clanging together as Yoo Jonghyuk, poured all his anger and frustration onto this man. If anything he had to make sure Kim Dokja knew which out of the two of them were stronger, and which of the two was truly dominant in their already twisted and confusing relationship.
“Stop it! Jonghyuk ahjussi! Stop it!”
Shin Yoosung went in between the two, a murderous look passed by Yoo Jonghyuk’s face for a second, before he controlled his expression. All he could remember when looking at the girl was how she had killed Kim Dokja during the disaster of floods scenario. The same could be said for Biyoo, the reincarnated form of the future round Shin Yoosung, he hated that dokkaebi, it took him so much self restraint to keep himself from ripping it in half. The bad memories he could only just endure every time he even just glanced at her, tore at him.
“This squid is Dokja ahjussi!”
He raised his blade again, the longer this child stood before him, the harder it got to keep himself sane. The sword that he unconsciously lifted up, wasn’t meant to strike Kim Dokja, but Shin Yoosung. But he had struck at Kim Dokja anyway, the two pushing each other back with brute force. The man in the form of an alien looking being sprawled out on the ground after being pushed back by him. A sword pierced the ground as the regressor towered over him, looking at the demon king with such high intensity.
A sort of odd sound came from behind, Flying Fox had marked the tower and soon Kim Dokja in all of his broken, beat up glory was below him. He didn’t bother turning around to look at the returnee behind him, rather one of his hands came to stroke this Stars cheek. It was a gentle action, so full of affection that Kim Dokja felt himself stiffen, a wry smile on his face as Yoo Jonghyuk answered it with a soft one, but his eyes didn’t reflect the same tender feeling his grin did. It was a very eerie feeling, one that only Yoo Jonghyuk would know how to describe, this Star of his made an almost undetectable shiver at his gaze and it filled him with excitement.
Shin Yoosung then had tears streaming down her face, she approached Kim Dokja hugging him, he felt disgusted and at the same time furious when he saw this. His eyes surveyed his surroundings, landing on Jung Heewon, Lee Jihye, Han Sooyoung, Lee Hyunsung and Lee Gilyoung, they were nuisances. He hated that he had to share the gazes and attention with the rest of them, it irked him in so many ways. His hand gripped the handle of his blade, slowly taking it out of the ground.
Soon Lee Gilyoung came running this way, his goal was to hug the hyung he had been waiting for, but sadly he wouldn’t complete that goal because…
Sharp steel like metal as dark as the abyss cut through the air and two heads rolled onto the ground. Blood sprayed everywhere as the two lively children were now stone cold dead, a shocked look plastered on every single person in the company and that look of shock was even more prevalent on Kim Dokja. This Constellation thought his eyes were betraying him as he looked at the spine chilling smile on Yoo Jonghyuk’s face. The power the 3rd round regressor had was raging as more of his comrades fell, one by one.
Han Sooyoung could only murmur a couple words, before her head was severed from her body, she hadn’t prepared an extra avatar to go into because she didn’t think this cold protagonist would ever do something this crazy.
“You goddamn annoying protagonist…”
Jung Heewon and Lee Hyunsung soon became victims to his demon sword, the only thing on their face was the question, why?
And then came Lee Jihye, her shuddering form as she stepped back and away, her voice wavering as it cracked at the end of every incoherent noise she made.
“...M-master?”
The only thing she got in return was a cold look, it was then she fully realized. This was no longer her master and he didn’t see her as his disciple either. A shiver wracked through her body, she always thought she could at least understand her master even a little, but now she wasn’t sure. This side of him was unknown territory to her, and from the looks of it…
She glanced at Kim Dokja’s surprised stricken body.
… Kim Dokja didn’t know about this part of him either.
A pleading look on her face as she shouted for Kim Dokja, he rushed towards them in desperation. Her screams were cut short as that black blade stabbed into her chest, blood foaming at the corners of her mouth, coughing as she slumped to the floor. And then one more swing and he killed off the returnee group as well, a glare was directed at him, one mixed with disbelief, sorrow and rage.
“Yoo Jonghyuk, you bastard, what that hell do you think you just did?!”
A sinister smirk crossed that usually stoic man's face as he walked towards Kim Dokja and the latter didn’t give way, wielding his sword, but his arms shook heavily. This wasn’t supposed to happen, he didn’t even think this was possible, that this favorite character of his would betray them all just like that. He could barely even register how fast Yoo Jonghyuk was as he appeared right in front of him, a strong force hit him in the back of the head as his consciousness blurred.
“No…”
He struggled in vain, he needed to stay awake, he couldn’t fall now, but he did anyway, right into Yoo Jonghyuk’s arms. Rough calloused hands wrapped around that fragile frame, bringing him into such a tight passionate embrace. That crazed smile on his face never came off, pressing his lips to this alluring demons temple, then to his eyes, cheek and went lower and lower. Soon he made his way to the others lips, a breathy sigh escaped from his mouth as he stared at him so lovingly obsessed.
“Kim Dokja…”
He let that name roll off his tongue, mind painted in a red rosy color of bliss.
‘How sweet, so so so sweet and so utterly’
“Mine”
[Constellation ‘Secretive Plotter’ is shocked by the actions of incarnation ‘Yoo Jonghyuk’]
A frown came right after that message, there were still the other constellations, staring and coveting what was essentially his. But… he could take care of them later, all he wanted was to enjoy his time with Dokja.
“I’m not letting you go ever again.”
And then they shared such a chaste, but impure kiss.
