Chapter 1: Chapter One: Rules on the First Date

Summary:

Jungkook picks up Namjoon from his apartment for their first date. Jimin and Taehyung simply makes the rules clear before they let their baby go on a date with a bunny smiled boy.

Chapter Text

It goes without saying that Jungkook was a nervous mess.

Maybe he made the wrong decision of wearing yellow on his first date. What if he had sweat marks on? Did Namjoon find sweat marks sexy?

Probably not, but hopefully yes.

But he didn’t exactly have time to dwell on that thought anymore. He has approximately one minute and thirty seven seconds to ring the doorbell at his tutor slash date’s apartment. He couldn’t be late.

Not when he had already been pacing outside the building for a solid fifteen minutes.

Mentally berating himself for getting sidetracked, he manages to ring the bell right on time even on the exact second it turns 7 in the evening.

But Jungkook isn’t given enough time to mentally scream, for it also only took five more seconds before the door opened.

And just before the starry eyed sophomore could jump around like an excited bunny ready to whisk his hyung away on a romantic date to a carnival around town, he was greeted by the view of two very menacing, but oh so handsome men right in front of his face.

Ah of course, he had to get through the parents first.

“Jiminie hyung, Taehyungie hyung,” Jungkook politely greeted with his signature bunny smile that he knew most people would melt for. “Hi!”

But the two were unnerved. They were no stranger to Jungkook. As the kid their other roommate tutored, Jungkook wasn’t a foreigner to the their apartment. Him and many other kids had sat on their sofa as their smartest roommate went on to tangents about some equation that drove Jimin approximately fifty miles away.

And truthfully, Jungkook was more terrified of them than he had ever been with Namjoon.

They all knew how sweet Joonie was, the boy too pure and idealistic, always seeking the good in people even when they were downright assholes to him. And being Namjoon’s friends since middle school, Jimin and Taehyung had taken it upon themselves to protect their very sweet hyung.

Nobody, and absolutely no one, could hurt their precious Namjoonie.

Especially not by a (sexy) muscular bunny smiled boy.

Jimin and Taehyung had seen it countless of times. How the kids Namjoon sat with for at least two hours on their sofa slowly fell into the spell of their hyung’s smile. Not that anyone could blame them, those dimples were deadly.

So Taehyung and Jimin made sure to make their message clear.

For quite a number of times, Jimin and Taehyung had to verbally remind people that while their eyes shone with admiration for their hyung, the moment they fuck Joonie up, well they could kiss theirnecks goodbye.

(There was that one time, that Jimin had to punch a kid on the gut when he made a snide remark about Namjoon after Taehyung told him that their hyung was too good for him. And let’s just say, Jimin didn’t appreciate that.)

So most of them, immediately being intimidated by the two handsome devils disguised as angels (at least to Namjoon’s eyes) had decided not to pursue their tutor.

And for Jimin and Taehyung, that means they have failed their first test.

If Namjoon was worth it, they wouldn’t let themselves be scared of anyone, especially not by the very two people who just wanted their hyung to always be happy.

But alas, Jeon Jungkook entered their lives.

The boy was sweet, they’d give him that. He was kind and polite, and word around campus was that he was a genuine boy who just wanted to fulfil his dreams of becoming an engineer.

He may be one of the cutest, but he wasn’t exempted from Jimin and Taehyung. Especially when right from the first session, they could already see how besotted the boy was with their hyung.

They threatened him here and there. With subtle warning glares that didn’t ease until the fourth or fifth session. But the boy just remained respectful, and for almost five months, he was happy to silently crush on his tutor.

Until one Tuesday evening, when Jungkook had requested to have their second to the last session in a café, did Namjoon come back to their apartment with the biggest dimpled smile on his face.

‘Tae tae, Jiminie, oh my god!’ Namjoon squealed as he entered the kitchen were the two sat with dinner, smiling as the other two bafflingly stared at him. ‘Jungkookie asked me on a date!’

Needless to say, Taehyung spat his apple juice on the counter.

“Hyungie?” Jungkook questioned again when the two boy stood unmoving with their glares for a solid two minutes on their front door.

That was just last Tuesday. Jungkook had his last session with Namjoon last Thursday (again away from the apartment, in hopes to avoid the two guardian demons) until his date with his tutor on Saturday night.

And now looking at these two musketeers, Jungkook thinks he had a very valid reason to be scared.

“Jungkook.” Jimin greeted emotionlessly with his arms crossed in front of his chest. Jungkook may be a solid four inches taller than him, but right now, he felt so small under his burning gaze. “We have been waiting for you.”

Jungkook gulped, he hoped this wasn’t his death just yet, after all, Namjoon was still not his boyfriend.

‘I never even got to kiss those dimples.’ Jungkook poutingly mused inside his head.

Instead, Jungkook met their eyes without looking cocky. “Have I done something wrong?”

Stupid question, but Jungkook was *this* close to passing out.

Taehyung hummed, his stance equally as threatening as Jimin’s. “We hope not.”

But before Jungkook could open his mouth, Taehyung proceeded to talk. “It just came to our attention that you have done something behind our backs. And more so, has done something to avoid us for your last study session.”

Jungkook gulped, he was fucking caught. “I-it’s not like tha—“

“We must say, we are impressed.” Jimin, like an old fashioned father sized him from head to toe. “Many have tried, but only few have succeeded.”

“A smart move, one could say.” Taehyung mused a little threateningly. “Them engineering kids are usually very smart, aren’t they?”

Jungkook honestly didn’t know whether to defend himself or just allow them to threaten him if this would mean making things easier for everybody. He stood there with his mouth gaping until all three of them heard a loud sigh from the inside of their apartment.

Stood in all his long legged glory was Kim Namjoon looking absolutely. fucking. delectable.

He stood in one of the tightest ripped jeans he had ever seen him in, and it wasn’t fair, because Jungkook already had a fetish for his hyung’s thighs and these jeans were absolutely not helping. The man wore a white button up shirt with the top three (not two, but three!) buttons unbuttoned, giving you a peak of his glorious chest. And if that wasn’t sexy enough, he topped of his look with a denim jacket that went perfectly with his slicked back hair.

Fuck this is wrong, this was so hard. He had worked for so much courage to ask his hyung out, he cannot be caught fucking slipping now. Especially not in front of his hyung’s guardian demons, I mean, angels.

Damn Namjoon and his stupidly thick thighs.

“Jungkook, you’re drooling.”

Jimin unhelpfully supplied from his right as if the entire building didn’t already know. And who the fuck wouldn’t drool over this sight? Damn it, Jungkook. Think with your upper head.

“H-hyung,” Jungkook greeted but winced when it came out a little squeaky. He tried again, clearing his throat a little. Then the boy smiled, as if he was genuinely happy to be in this moment. “Namjoon hyung, hi!”

It was very obvious that that was the exact moment Namjoon softened. Although Jungkook couldn’t see it from his view, both Jimin and Taehyung rolled their eyes at the smitten look his hyung gave the boy the moment he caught sight of his bunny smile.

“Hi Jungkook.”

Taehyung couldn’t help but grimace at the school girl blush that adorned their hyung’s face. Namjoon was acting like he was thirteen with his first crush, not like a college senior that was going on a date with one of the hottest students in the engineering building.

“You look beautiful, hyungie.”

Jimin’s eyes snapped towards the smitten tone of Jungkook’s voice that matched the equally smitten look that painted his face. His eyes narrowed, ready to see if he was in any way looking at Namjoon like how all those ‘other boys’ looked at their hyung. Like he was nothing but eye candy.

Instead he saw Jungkook looking at Namjoon with the softest, shyest but also biggest smile on his face. He was looking at his hyung as if all the shooting stars he had wished upon finally pulled through.

And it was equally disgusting how Namjoon looked identically as starry eyed as Jungkook was.

It almost reminded him of how—

“Oh-kay.” Jimin cleared his throat, forcing Jungkook AND Namjoon to blush. “That’s enough, there’s still Taehyung and I in this room.”

“Anyways,” Namjoon was trying to look composed, but the obvious blush on his cheeks hinted otherwise. Instead he opted a soft smile towards his date. “You look amazing as well, Jungkookie.”

“Thank you hyungie! Oh and before I forget,” Like some teenage chick flick, Jungkook produced a bouquet of sunflowers from his side. Something neither Jimin and Taehyung, nor Namjoon had noticed when he came in. “These are for you.”

With a gigantic smile, Namjoon plucked the bouquet from the boy’s hand and immediately found one of his wooden vases to put it in. Seeing as it would take them a few more minutes to fix the vase, Namjoon had requested for Taehyung to be the one to settle his sunflower bouquet. Thankfully the boy grumblingly agreed.

Once it was all settled, Namjoon reached out to intertwine his hand with the younger’s, not noticing how the butterflies played a game of tennis inside the younger boy’s tummy. “Let’s go, Jungkookie.”

“Uh-uh, not so fast.”

It was Jimin who tutted, like a disapproving father. He marched up to the two, physically disentangling their connected hands much to Jungkook’s pout and Namjoon’s whine. “Rule #1, keep your hands to yourself.”

‘What?’ Jungkook couldn’t help but gape inwardly. ‘That was so unfair!’

But before he could voice out his complains, Taehyung interjected himself into the conversation. “Rule #2, you bring him home before midnight.”

At that, Namjoon couldn’t help but snort as he sarcastically replied. “Bibidibabidi boo fucking hoo, fairy godmother.”

Ignoring his snarky remark, Jimin only proceeded to list their third rule. “Rule #3, not a single hair from Namjoon’s head should be out of place, Jeon Jungkook. We’re very strict on this.”

Well that Jungkook could agree on. He had already mentally promised to never hurt his hyung, and he intends to keep his word until his last breath. He gives a firm nod at that. “Of course.”

“Rule #4,” Taehyung patted Namjoon’s collar as their hyung only rolled their eyes at him. He fixed a glare on Jungkook. “Do not feed him too much ice cream. Or else, he will whine at us with a tummy ache tomorrow morning. It’s not very cute!”

“Hey!” Namjoon pouted at them. “I’m always cute.”

It was almost magical how Jimin and Taehyung’s demeanours immediately shifted into small smiles and pure fondness. But Jungkook guessed it was the Joonie effect. He was, after all, not immune to it too.

“Of course, you big baby.”

“Yes, Joonie, you always are.”

All three of them giggled, and even Jungkook couldn’t suppress his smile.

That was until both Jimin and Taehyung turned to him again, their glare back on to him with full force as they eyed the young man by their doorstep.

“And lastly,” Like a computer automated announcement, Taehyung and Jimin spoke at the same time. “Rule #5, you cannot kiss him until the third date.”

Even though he kind of expected it, Jungkook couldn’t help but pout. If there was something he looked forward for, it was the privilege of being able to kiss his hyung whenever he wishes. But then again, good things come to those who wait. And for Jungkook, Namjoon was already the greatest thing to happen to him.

So yes, he can wait. Namjoon was definitely worth the wait.

“Okay.”

At his silent agreement, Jimin couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. Usually they’d be met with whines and grumbles, but Jungkook had only accepted without a single offense.

“If that is all, Appa, Dad,” Namjoon joked, that wasn’t greatly appreciated with how the two whacked his chest. “Jungkook and I have to go.”

With a quick and easy slide, Namjoon slipped on his shoes as he patted his pockets for everything he needed.

“Keys?” Taehyung asked.

“Here.”

“Phone and wallet?” Jimin supplied.

“Already got it.”

“Are you sure you won’t be needing another jacket, Joonie hyung?” Taehyung questioned as he couldn’t help see the light material of his button up. “And for god’s sake, button up your shirt.”

But Namjoon was a brat, he only poked his tongue out at the two. “I’m good, thank you.”

Jimin snorted. “Of course you won’t listen.” Then he added with a smirk in a completely teasing tone. “You are such a harlot at the very core, we been knew.”

When Namjoon gasped dramatically, not even Jungkook could stop his giggle. “How could you say that to me, Oh Jiminie?” Namjoon pretended to fan his face in utter horror. “The betrayal! And that in front of this fine young gentleman that ventures to capture my heart through a romantic night on a gigantic spinning wheel.”

Even Taehyung’s stern glare wavered with amusement at his hyung’s antics. “Hyung, be serious. You sure you won’t get cold?”

Namjoon finally dropped the act, his dimples returning as he smiled at the two. “I won’t you two, and if I do,” Namjoon inched closer to Jungkook, just there but still not touching. “I think someone right here can keep me warm.”

Oh Jungkook can do that. His insides were already burning anyways. One touch at him, and everyone could feel just how hot Jungkook was feeling the more Namjoon looked and smiled at him that way.

At least until Jimin grumbled from the back of his throat. “Hey! Rule #1 says that—“

“Yeah yeah!” Like a fourteen year old kid, Namjoon cut them off, grabbing Jungkook’s forearm as he dragged the younger towards the door of their apartment. “We know.”

He was about to pull Jungkook outside, but Namjoon paused for a while. He then turned around and gave the two little demons a very quick goodbye kiss on their cheeks, as he grabbed Jungkook again and made a dash out the door. “See ya!”

“Kim Namjoon!” Jimin yelled as both he and Taehyung stood dumbfounded at their door, watching Namjoon pull Jungkook towards the elevator. “Wait a minute.”

“I’ll be seeing you both later tonight, Minnie, Tae tae!” Namjoon tapped his foot willing the elevator to come quicker as Jungkook smiled in amusement beside him. “I’ll text you, and don’t wait up for me, okay? Bye!”

And it chimed just in time for them to get in.

But still Taehyung tried to yell as they entered the lift. ”Remember hyung, be home by—“

The elevator doors had closed.

“Midnight.”

Jimin and Taehyung couldn’t help but heave a heavy sigh. Their kid was out there all alone, leaving them for some cute boy without so much as a proper hug and smooch. What a fucking brat.

“They grow up so fast.” Jimin mused as he closed their apartment door. Sighing heavily again, at the reality that they have just allowed their only child to go on a date with a boy that would hopefully (and most likely) not break his heart.

Taehyung only nodded, his heart beating a little anxiously as they gazed out of their window and saw Namjoon and Jungkook get inside Jungkook’s car. He couldn’t help but worry a little, a bit apprehensive if they made the wrong decision. But one look at the excited smile on Jungkook and Namjoon’s face as they got in the car made Taehyung believe otherwise.

“You’re right, they do.”

Meanwhile, the moment Jungkook pressed on the gas, Namjoon expelled a heavy breath and smiled a little apologetically at the younger boy. “Sorry about that.”

“It’s cool, hyungie.” Jungkook smiled, genuinely meaning it. “I don’t mind.”

“Still they could be a little too much.” It was at the tip of Jungkook’s tongue to tell his hyung that he knew exactly how ‘much’ those two could get. “Sorry if they scared you a little.”

They scared him a lot, but Jungkook is strong and courageous. And he happened to like Namjoon a lot. “I meant it hyungie, it’s fine. It’s sweet actually.”

Namjoon only sent him a little smile before glancing at Jungkook’s right hand that sat idly on top of the gear. He knew they were still about half an hour away from the carnival, and Jungkook’s other hand looked a little lonely. His left on was on the steering wheel, while his other one did nothing.

Namjoon knew of a way to fix that.

He silently enclosed the other’s hand on his own grip, slowly intertwining their fingers together. Jungkook could only raise an eyebrow as he smirked at his blushing hyung.

“Are you already trying to get me into trouble, hyung?” Jungkook joked, but not before squeezing Namjoon’s hand on his own.

‘Ohmygod. I’m holding Namjoon’s hand.’

But Namjoon only rolled his eyes, giving him a subtle smile. “What they won’t know won’t hurt them, right?”

“I don’t know hyungie,” Jungkook teased, holding the older’s hand tighter in his grip. “It was Rule #1, and here you are already trying to get me in trouble way before we even officially start our date.”

The giggle Namjoon let out was genuinely making Jungkook mushy. Hailee Steinfeld was right, it was no butterflies, it was the whole damn zoo. “But am I worth the trouble, Jungkookie?”

His hyung had this simple teasing look in his eye. But for Jungkook, the question went so much more.

He thought of all those study sessions where Jungkook forced himself to get better and better scores. Loving the way his hyung had praised him each time he brought back a higher grade. He thought of all the times he wanted to give up, but couldn’t, because his Namjoon hyung believed in him. Even when he didn’t believe in himself.

He thought of all the glares and threats he had to endure throughout their study sessions whenever Jimin or Taehyung crossed paths with them in their living room. And they won’t even be subtle. They’d sit on the couch in front of them just staring at him, making Jungkook almost piss his pants. It weren’t for Namjoon physically dragging them away, Jungkook was sure he wouldn’t learn anything.

He thought of all the pep talk and self encouragement he gave himself, before the start of their second to the last session. He was saddened then, that his time with Namjoon was slowing coming up. So he figured that now was the perfect time to ask him out.

He thought of everything that has led him to this moment.

And that’s when he realized that, yes, Namjoon was worth every single trouble.

“Oh absolutely hyungie.”

Seeing those dimples made it worth it in every single way.
