Chapter Text
"Y/N, listen to me!"
He grabbed my shoulders, strong and unyielding, to force me facing him directly in the eyes. Behind me was a silent lake, and surrounding me was a beautiful and romantic scenery that anyone would die to be able to stand in my place. Enormous and courageous trunks of woods were sprouting in organized lines, particularly close to the bank of the round lake.
It was dark; the city's polluted clouds had probably hidden the stars away from the mortals' eyes. The street lights planting next to the trees were anything but near the place I was standing — a small pier.
I was near the edge as I tried to run away from the person in front of me, but there was no use. He was stronger and had successfully caught me before I could vanish.
"Stop it, you're pushing me." I attempted to escape his grasp, fearing that I could fall into the lake at any moment.
The tall man that I was obviously frightened of held me even tighter. He gritted his teeth in a desperate manner. "I could make you happy."
One year, it had been a year, but why now? Why did he come to me at this moment? Why? We already broke up.
"Yo- you can't. We're not meant to be." I couldn't breathe or raise my voice, no matter how angry I was.
"Y/N! Why are you so blind?" At last, he shouted. Unfortunately for me, there was no one around. It was around midnight anyway, why would anyone be in the park at this hour?
"Let me go! We broke up, so please, I'm begging you." I was still struggling with breaking free from this man who turned my life to a living hell.
I moved back one or two steps to get away from him. However, I forgot that I was too close to the edge of the pier, and before I realized how stupid I was, I stumbled backward.
That furious ex of mine was too focusing on persuading me that he could bring me happiness; he didn't realize that I was on the verge of falling. "Y/N, why couldn't you trust me one more time?" He violently shook my body.
But it was too late: I fell into the water behind me as my ex-boyfriend unintentionally let go of my shoulders.
"Aahhh!" A scream unconsciously came out of my mouth, followed by a loud splash that seemed to wake the peaceful lake up.
"Y/N!" I heard he called my name before the water enclosed both of my ears.
I instinctively shut my eyes when the body water swallowed me in. I felt like I was sinking deeper and deeper into the darkness every second, absorbing the coldness of autumn that the lake had been consuming recently.
I tried not to open my eyes, but swinging my hands up and down to make myself float on the surface. That motherfucker, he said he would make me happy but didn't bother to jump into the water to save me. Even though every part of my cell hated him, I couldn't believe that he was this useless.
Finally, I inhaled as much as I could with my mouth gasped for oxygen. My hands were wiping the water on my face while my eyes saught open. "You dirty son of the chickens, how could-"
I stopped.
My eyes were wide open to the strange view in front of and surrounding me.
The first notice was the absence of the pier; the second one was the nonexistence of my ex-boyfriend; the third cue was the land underneath me.
I remembered being unable to touch the bottom of the lake, and now I was standing literally on my feet. The water was reaching my shoulder and I stood still, trying to decipher the situation I was in.
Where the hell was I?
Instead of big and tall trees growing perfectly in lines, there were gatherings of different-looking types of trees scattering around the lake. And the big lake was reduced in size; now it was only small enough for me to see every of its border. In front of me used to have a pier, but there was a huge mansion sparkling with white lights, quite far away that I had to squint my eyes for confirmation.
Since when there was a mansion in a public park?
I walked out of the lake to my right, soaked from head to toes, and warily looked around to see if my ex was near me. To my surprise but relief, he wasn't.
Under the unusual bright moon and dots of stars, I squeezed my hair together to let the water out. The ground beneath wasn't a path, but grassless land that appeared to be the result of a harsh Autumn. I looked around, trying to catch every glimpse of novelty.
A modern mansion that probably took me ten years of walking, a small lake but big enough for me to build a mansion on, mysterious groups of trees instead of spreading out into lines, and finally an extraordinarily vast and flat piece of land next to the lake and where I was standing that resembled a golf course.
"Mother of seven chairs, what is this place?" I mumbled, turning my head in 360 degrees.
I had to ask a person. There must be a human, a living person around here. I sighed, thinking of millions of possible reasons for me being in this strange place instead of fighting with my ex.
I tried to calm myself as I walked back and forth, squinting my eyes to look for a person. Thankfully it was not as dark as it seemed.
Suddenly, I heard a 'click' sound of a gun.
"Stand still, hands up." A scary and unknown male voice was delivered to my ears.
As a reflex, I turned around to identify that voice. A male figure was now standing in front of me, approximately four meters away, holding a- holy molly beef, it was really a fucking short gun.
The sight of the gun took away all of my stable mental health. Before I could say anything, he warned. "Shut up before I shoot you."
Sh... sh... shoot? With that gun?
I immediately knitted my lips together, taking a glance at the man who saw me as a threat. He had this amazingly broad shoulders that stood out even in the dark-colored suit and under the dim natural light. Moreover, if it wasn't for the gun, I would have claimed his face to be so damn handsome, especially that straight nose and thick lips-
"I got her." His voice cut through my thought, seemingly talking to someone in his ears. "In the golf course. Send men to the golf course."
Wait, what did he mean by 'send men' here?
"He- hey mister." I nervously spoke up. "May I ask what's happeni-"
"I said shut up." Once again, his gun shut me up. He didn't raise his voice too much, but I could feel a very dangerous feeling, a feeling that my death was near if I didn't run away.
He was mumbling again with someone in his earbuds before turning to me. "Don't try to do anything. I know why you're here, so don't even dare to lie."
I tilted my head in absolute confusion. "You know the reason I'm here?" In a moment, curiosity had taken over my fear complex.
I saw a smirk appeared on his emotionless face. "Your name? Where are you from?" He asked.
"Why do you need-" He loaded his gun to show that he could pull the trigger at any time. Just by hearing those sounds, I abruptly stopped objecting. "Y/N, Koo Y/N. I'm from Sokcho, South Korea."
He stayed silent for a bit. "Don't fool me."
"Then... then... where am I from?" Was this even rhetorically question for myself, I didn't know. Confusion and fright mixed together, producing a trembling and sweating me who understand zero fucks. "I don't know. Do I have to say my address? Are you a police officer? I didn't do anything illegal, I swear-"
"You're already on Boss's property. You-" He cursed under his breath, turning to his earbud one more time as he ignored my hurried explanation.
Was it good to run away? He was literally pointing a gun at me, a gun! Was he attempting to kill me or what?
What the bullshit was happening here? A moment ago, I was trying to free myself from my crazy ex, and now I stood here hands in the air like a criminal?
No, no, no.
It would be much better if I fleed from here; I had a bad feeling, a very bad feeling.
"I- I guess I'm on another person's property, haha." I made up an excuse, laughing my death off. "I can find my way out, silently, I promise. As long as you let me go, I will swear on my future career that you will never and ever see me again on your property. I didn't break into the golf course, I didn't. I just happened to be here because-"
He informed: "You're already surrounded. Now, on your knees-"
"Haha..." I burst out laughing like a fool. "Are you seriously asking me to kneel because I accidentally trespass a golf course? I was in that lake, that one!"
"If you have a gun, I demand you to drop it now."
"You're the one who has the gun! Can't you see I'm all drenched like a drowned rat? I don't even know how to shoot, not mentioning me having a gun!" I sighed for god knew how many times. "So please? Just, let me go and-"
He would never cooperate to answer my questions right now; it would be better if I could run out of this property and then find my way back home.
"You will be investigated, so I suggest you save your explanation for later."
"Wh- what?" I stuttered. "Investigation? Ha, you- you're in a great misunderstanding, sir. I don't know how the heck did I get either!" I exclaimed.
He didn't budge, not a single inch.
"Look over there, your men are arriving faster than I expect!" I pointed to his back.
"H-" He turned his head around to see.
And I fucking took off away from him, flying across the field.
