Work Text:
A normal day for Yoongi means waking up at 8 am, taking a brisk shower, eating a croissant with coffee and dressing in his work uniform — a simple black trouser with a black t-shirt, which has the shop’s logo on the left side, right above the heart to symbolize love for his job. While picking up his jacket from the chair, he looks at the clock placed on his kitchen’s wall, right above his small television. He lowers his head and looks at his watch, immediately after, in order to check the time twice as one of them can not be working well. However, everything is fine.
It is a usual day for Yoongi.
Yoongi loves his job. It is the best thing that has ever happened to him. They pay him well, they don’t overload him with work and he has time to work on his side job — producing. The owner of the shop, Park Sooyeon, is very encouraging of Yoongi’s side work and even lets him use the empty room in the shop as his actual studio. He feels very welcome. As if they are actually blood-related, a family.
Of course, seeing Park Jimin every day is a bonus to the work. The young boy, 2 years younger than Yoongi and a dance teacher in the dance academy next to the shop, is the owner’s son and the definition of perfection in human form. He carries the most beautiful and sinful body Yoongi has ever seen; bodylines out of the world. A jawline that makes him look the sweetest at some moments but the most dangerous at others, so sharp that it looks like it can cut him. His eyes are the loveliest, especially when he smiles and they shape into a crescent, plus the sweet and dark colour of it sends pleasing shivers through Yoongi.
Everything would be ok if it were only that; however, Jimin is also the kindest soul walking on earth. Yoongi cannot believe that such a human can be real. He is always a hundred percent sure that the boy was sent by heaven to torture Yoongi, maybe for his sins. Yoongi gets so lost in his eyes every single second, on his smile whenever he laughs, on his sweet voice whenever he talks. Yoongi is so desperately in love it is funny.
Jimin.
Yoongi arrives at work by car 10 minutes later. A brief and agreeable trip. As soon as he unlocks the main door of the flower shop, he greets Sooyeon who is already sitting by the counter. She is so focused on the cash register that she doesn't even notice Yoongi walking in.
“Good morning, Sooyeon-ssi.” The old lady immediately smiles as she sees Yoongi walking towards him, his gummy smile fully on display. He bows at her briefly, before taking off his jacket.
“Good morning, Yoongi. How are you, darling?” Sooyeon asks, helping Yoongi take off his jacket to then settle it on the wall hangers near the staff’s door. Yoongi murmurs a small thank you, appreciating the help.
“I am fine, Sooyeon-ssi.” He replies briefly. He sits on the empty chair behind the counter and sets his login in the cash register, organizing it before initiating his work. “How is Sooyeon’s back? Is the medicine finally making a positive effect?” His voice sounds kind and attentive, expressing exactly how he feels. After all, he was the one who bought it.
She groans slightly by the mention of her back, chuckling afterwards. “Yes, Yoongi. I still need to pay you ba— Don’t protest back, child. It’s your money. They are actually perfect but you know,” The lady with tinged black hair sighed as she is rubbing her waist. “I am getting old, Yoongi.”
Both laughed.
“You are perfectly fine, Sooyeon-ssi. You look very young.” Yoongi assures her but the lady shooks her head, sighing deeply afterwards.
“I am sixty-eight, Yoongi.” There is a noticeable sorrowful tone in her voice and it makes Yoongi’s heart break slightly. “My biggest regret is not having Jimin earlier. He is such a young and cheerful boy, I don’t want to leave him yet but every single second I am nearer to death than life.”
“Sooyeon-ssi. Firstly, age is just a number. Your spirit and mind are very healthy and probably even younger than mine.” Yoongi chuckles slightly and thanks himself mentally for also making the lady giggle at his comment. “And secondly, the beauty of life is not undoing what is done but seeing it, understanding it, loving it and learning from it. You raised a very beautiful man, Sooyeon-ssi.”
A flawless man. Yoongi wishes to add so many more adjectives that could describe the perfection in the creation made by the woman in front of him; however, he holds himself back, biting his lip and simply letting those thoughts live in his mind.
“I am happy.” Sooyeon smiles and Yoongi gives one back as well, his heart feeling so warm and soft by it. “I am also happy because Jimin has a wise man like you by his side.”
Yoongi’s heart speeds up and his cheeks heat up very quickly, he tries to hide it with his big hands. He groans slightly and the older woman just laughs at his behaviour, clearly loving to tease his employer.
“I can totally see why Jimin likes you.”
“I like him too.” Yoongi whispers, his voice sounding too tiny as he feels a little bit embarrassed to say those words out loud. Because loving Jimin is like falling asleep. Slowly but also all at once.
“Well, I am going now.” Sooyeon mumbles, walking towards their house door which is on the farthest door of the shop and has a sign which says ‘ONLY STAFF ALLOWED’. However, she stops in front of the wooden door and turns around, looking at Yoongi with a warm smile. “Take Jimin out today, please. It’s Monday and you know how Mondays are bad for us so you can close early today.”
Yoongi nodded, lowering his face in a way to hide the blush spreading across his face. “I will, Sooyeon-ssi.”
Yoongi loves his job but… he loves Jimin a bit more.
“Yoongi-hyung!” The soft and sweet familiar voice echoes through the shop as well as the wind that enters rapidly into the shop when the main door opens harshly. Yoongi looks up, his attention away from the notes he is taking, and his gaze falls on the most beautiful man walking on earth. He gulps, trying to remain as cool as his posture looks now, not like his mind that is yelling crazily because SOS Jimin is wearing the softest yellow sweatshirt and black soft sweatpants. His cute hands are almost covered which makes his already so small hands look tinier and Yoongi absolutely adores it.
“Hello, Jiminie.” He replies sweetly and Jimin giggles while walking towards his Hyung, the smooth tone of his voice filling the room.
“Hyung! You have to treat me like a customer because I am buying flowers today.” Jimin says, his voice sounding as excited as his body who seems to almost jump like a little kid in an amusement park. The older boy laughs at Jimin’s childish but cute behaviour, leaning a little bit on his chair before standing up and grinning at Jimin.
“Ok.” He clears his throat and sighs deeply, his happy face turning into a very expressionless mode. “Welcome to our flower shop. I’ll be here if any help is needed.” He ends his statement with the fakest smile ever.
Jimin laughs so hard, he almost falls on the floor. He holds his stomach with his hands as he smiles at Yoongi and tries to say something but ends up giggling more eventually. “That- That-!” Jimin laughs harder each second and Yoongi feels at heaven. He is 100% sure that the first thing you hear when you enter heaven is Jimin’s pure and beautiful laughs. “That’s so weird, Hyung!” Jimin says.
“That’s not weird! That’s how I deal with customers!” Yoongi corrects him but Jimin tilts his head, a smilingly confused expression on his face.
“You are the kindest with customers!” Jimin protests him, pouting intensifying in his plump and smooth lips. Yoongi tries to ignore the desire to kiss those lips or his mind would start thinking about the wrong thing at the worst time.
“How do you know that, Park Jimin? Are you stalking me?” Yoongi feels bold to ask such a question, a smirk forming in his face while he watches the way the younger’s cheeks turn into a rosy colour. Yoongi feels a proud and pleasurable sensation in his chest. Jimin looks like a beautiful mess, gazing at Yoongi with his mouth half opened as if he is trying to say something but his brain is having a small error in function.
“A-,” Jimin tries to say something, his face heating up each second and Yoongi has a small guilty pleasure from it. “I live here! That’s- I see you! Anyways, just be yourself then.”
Yoongi fakes being hurt by his comment and places his hand on his heart, faking a heart attack. “Yah!” He yells at Jimin who just giggles at his extra reaction from his words. “Are you saying I am a shitty worker?”
Jimin doesn’t say anything for a few seconds, his lips forming the not so innocent but wants to look pure smile. “Maybe.”
Yoongi and Jimin are all about teasing each other and it feels nice. The older boy loves their dynamic. He loves how they can bicker, call each other stupid or endearing names and they would have the same meaning for them. A sweet and soft meaning. He loves how sometimes they can be quiet in the same room and still be good. No awkward atmosphere fills the aura between them. How they can talk for hours and no conversation seems awkward or with an ending.
His thoughts are cut off by the sound of the main door opening and a real customer comes in. Jimin does a signal with his hands, meaning that he will be seeing his mom and he will be right back.
Yoongi nods, before saying:
“Hello! Welcome to our flower shop!”
It has been fifteen minutes since Jimin had left the shop to go see his mother and it has been five minutes since the customer left. Yoongi is actually a little bit too eager to know why Jimin is suddenly buying a flower. What even is the flower that he is buying?
Once the door of the house that is connected to the shop opens, Yoongi sees Jimin who had already changed his clothes to a white t-shirt and grey sweatpants. His black hair is a little bit messier and he absolutely adores the natural looks of Jimin – as much as he loves all his looks because Jimin looks gorgeous every single second.
“Yoonie!” That nickname brings all of Yoongi’s attention solely to Jimin. His heart is weak. He is weak for Jimin. “I wanna buy a bouquet.” Jimin mumbles, looking around the shop and analysing every flower.
“What flowers?” Yoongi asks and then finishes writing a sentence from the daily shop’s report.
Jimin hums, his sweet voice filling Yoongi’s ears. “What are your favourite flowers, Hyung?”
Yoongi tilts his head, his eyebrows rising a little bit as he is taken aback by the question. But due to Jimin’s persistence, look and gaze, he knows for sure he is not answering in a teasing way. Jimin is actually asking his favourite flower…
ALERT! JIMIN IS ASKING YOONGI HIS FAVOURITE FLOWER!
Yoongi’s mind is on a red alert, stuttering every word and trying to keep his composure but it is hard. It is hard because Park Jimin is interested in knowing his favourite flower. How did this happen? Wher–
“Hyung?”
“My favourite flowers?” Yoongi asks so he is sure he didn’t hear it incorrectly.
Jimin hums, nodding.
He is a bit hesitant at first because if Yoongi is honest, he had never thought about his favourite flower. Like his number one flower. The one he would choose over everything. But as he keeps gazing at Jimin who is, fortunately, looking around while Yoongi is supposedly thinking about his favourite flower, a flower appears in his mind. A flower that reminds him of Jimin.
“Sunflower.”
Jimin chuckles quietly – or so he tries. “That’s adorable, Hyung!” He turns around and smiles at him. “That’s such a perfect gift! Sunflowers represent adoration and pure love.”
Yoongi scratches the back of his neck, feeling a little bit embarrassed because that is certainly not the reason why he chose that flower but if Jimin puts it in that way, then he doesn’t really mind. “Yeah!” He replies, trying to sound as if he already knew that fact about the flowers.
Even though he has been working on that flower shop for a little bit more than one year, his knowledge about flowers isn’t the best. He can help customers on the most superficial and aesthetic things. He makes really beautiful bouquets; thus, the shop is really popular due to that and the naturalism of the flowers.
“Can you make a beautiful bouquet of them, Hyung?”
Who is Yoongi to deny a bouquet for the most handsome boy? He gets up and walks towards the cupboard which has all the necessary things to make a bouquet. However, his actions are stopped by Jimin’s other request.
“Can you add a little note saying ‘Will you go out with me’?”
He stays still, eyeing the cupboard and afraid to look at Jimin. His heart breaks, stops beating. It dies. His chest aches so hard, it is becoming hard to breathe.
The pleasure of love he had been feeling for a while is meant to be eventually broken. It is so selfish to ask for more time. For more time to live in the delusional world where Yoongi could think that Jimin is only but unfortunately reality hits him. Unfortunately, reality chose Yoongi to be heartbroken.
“Is anything wrong, Hyungie?”
“No-no.” Everything is wrong.
“Yoongi?” Sooyeon enters the flower shop, her voice is weak as she must have been asleep. “I heard some noise… Didn’t I tell you to go out with Jimin?”
Yoongi sighs. He tried. He asked him. “Jimin said he was busy today.”
“That’s odd…” The old woman mumbles, scratching her forehead.
It is as odd and unfamiliar as the aching emotion of Yoongi’s heart.
He tries to stay emotionless like he did when Jimin asked him for the little note but it feels harder to fake it now. Because what is wrong with feeling sad when those feelings are caused by a one-sided love? After all, his heart emotions can’t be fully controlled, even though Yoongi wishes he could.
“Go home, Yoongi. I will see you tomorrow.”
Yoongi stands up quickly not to leave but to protest because there is so much left to do in the shop. Like organising the cupboard, cleaning the whole shop, ending the report.
“Soo–,”
“No, Yoongi. Rest please.” The noticeable motherly tone on her voice doesn’t let Yoongi protest her. Even though he wants to argue back, it would be completely disrespectful and as much as it hurts, Yoongi goes home.
Yoongi wakes up earlier than usual, spending the first few minutes looking at the white ceiling of his bedroom. Jimin’s voice is the only thing filling his mind. A wave of beautiful sentences and moments spent with Jimin fills his mind and Yoongi thinks that maybe his heartbroken thoughts are pathetic. But who can blame him? What’s worse than a broken heart? An emotion that is broken by love and can also only be cured by it. Sounded hopeless.
When his mind rewinds the moment from yesterday, he picks up a pillow and puts it above his face as he groans. He sounded so ridiculous. His feelings took control over him and made him look like a fool.
He doesn’t want to see Jimin.
His phone starts vibrating and it turns on immediately. As soon as Yoongi sees Jimin’s name on the screen, his heart races and he curses because he is betrayed by his own emotions.
My Sun
Hyungie! Sorry I couldn’t go out yesterday!
Let’s go out today!
Pick me up at 9 PM at my house!
Take me somewhere nice >:(
Also wear something comfortable;)
I know you get off work at 6 PM
Bye Hyung-nim <3
Or maybe Yoongi really wants to see Jimin desperately.
Fucking feelings.
Yoongi is nervous. For whatever reason, he is nervous. Yoongi and Jimin have gone out lots of time; however, in Yoongi’s delusional mind, everything feels different. He feels like everything can turn out good eventually.
It is almost 9 PM and the older boy is standing outside of Jimin’s house, waiting for the clock to hit the number nine so it doesn’t look like he is so desperate to see him. Which he is.
When his watch signals 9 PM, he seems a bit hesitant at first to ring the doorbell but he does it eventually, in the most careful way.
He is expecting to see Jimin when the main door opens slowly; however, he is surprised to see Sooyeon, whose tiredness was visible in her face, appearing. She lets the door only a little bit open.
“Yoongi?”
“Hi Sooyeon-ssi.” He bows slightly while greeting her. When Sooyeon starts staring at Yoongi with an intense gaze, he wants to hide because, despite her tired look, she looks intimidating and confused with Yoongi’s presence at that late hour.
“It’s so late…” She half whispers. “Are you the reason why Jimin is panicking and trying on various clothes?”
Is he the reason? He likes to think so. Knowing that his nervousness isn't one-sided makes him feel somewhat at ease. Maybe Jimin feels the same. Maybe… maybe.
"I… guess?" He replies insecurely with his own answer because selfishly Yoongi wants Jimin to feel the same. Feel the love and nervousness he feels for Jimin.
Sooyeon-ssi smiles sweetly before opening the door more and slowly, making a boy appear in his sight. Yoongi can only see a bit of his back and his face reflected on the mirror.
What an endearing sight already.
Their gazes intertwine through the mirror. Yoongi feels his cheeks burn when Jimin smiles at him with that sweet and pure grin that makes Yoongi's heart goes crazy every single time. A pleasant and warm sensation spreads through his body – the usual emotion he feels whenever he is with him.
Jimin turns around quickly and his smile is wider than before with his cute crooked teeth completely visible as well as his puffy cheeks which are much rosier. Jimin is adorable. His eyes are almost disappearing while he is smiling so widely and Yoongi feels like getting shot by his beauty.
"Hi." is said at the same time; both of them.
A silence echoes between them; the only sound between the stillness of the room. Afterwards, the steps of Jimin's mother leaving the room interrupts the silence for a bit. Yet the silence stretches longer between them, making them end up laughing loudly. Because what an unnecessary sound that is filled between them.
Yoongi does thank the skies for letting him hear Jimin's laugh because he feels his whole body relax and less stressed. He doesn't feel the bad aching emotion on his chest and the weird pressure on his throat. He feels so less heavy that his heart can easily get out. His heart desires to do it. It wishes to leave Yoongi's body and craves Jimin's heart to embrace, care for and love it. Yoongi surely doesn't mind any of it.
"Shall we go?" Yoongi asks, extending his hand as if he is about to take the prince – an actual prince because, with Jimin's looks, he sure does look like one. Yet, Jimin ignores, not purposely, while his eyes are widening and he suddenly leaves the main hall where they are standing.
He stops midway in the stairs, kneels down so he can see Yoongi. "Wait!" He says, holding his hand in front of him, signalling a stop and Yoongi giggles. He fucking giggles because Jimin is so adorable, he might die eventually from the excessive amount of cuteness.
He doesn't wait too much. In a few seconds, Jimin is back and he is holding…
"Sunflowers?" Although he whispers in a way he can only hear, Jimin still catches his question and grins shamelessly at him.
"I heard it is your favourite."
Yoongi's heart betrays him again and starts beating at full force, he can even hear it in his ears. He gulps because it can't be. It can't be what he was thinking. Jimin canno—
"It is for you." The bouquet is way too familiar. The way it is done. The way it is designed. The way the little note is placed in the most pleasant and perfect place.
His face is hot. His cheeks are burning and he feels like his face is being tinged with a red colour. He looks like a living tomato.
"Jiminie…" He mumbles quickly because his heart is speaking louder.
"Read the note out of loud, Yoonie." The younger says, enthusiasm is noticeable in his voice tone.
He opens the little note carefully, trying not to ruin the flawless bouquet. He knows what is coming. He perfectly knows it yet his heart still jumps so harshly, it feels hard to secure him in the place. A smile escapes his lip automatically. It is hard to hide he is the happiest.
As soon as he notices his own handwriting, he chuckles.
Jimin is the only person in his mind.
"Will you go out with me?" He reads it out loud and looks at Jimin whose gaze is already fixed at him. Their cheeks are so rosy, they could be called the blushing couple.
"So?" Jimin asks, lowering his face afterwards and avoiding eye-contact as he feels embarrassed.
"Of course, idiot."
Yoongi plans the perfect date because he wants to be the perfect boyfriend. Once they get to the Han River, the clock making its midnight call, they sit in the park. The older boy brought a blanket earlier with them and uses it so they can lay on the ground.
Yoongi extends one of his arms so Jimin can use it as a pillow and lay his head on his arm. He never thought this day would come yet here he is.
Stargazing with the love of his life.
After a few minutes of astronomical discussion and Yoongi's random knowledge about literally everything, Jimin turns his head to his side so he is directly looking at Yoongi. The older boy senses the movements; thus, he also turns his head a tiny bit, their eyes interlocking perfectly. As if they were made to look at each other.
"What's the star that shines the most for you right now?" Jimin asks and then turns his head again to gaze at the dark sky, full of stars and constellations.
Maybe Yoongi should also turn his head and look at the sky to analyse it and find the star he finds the most bright. But why would he when he knows the star perfectly?
"The sun." Yoongi answers calmly.
Jimin humphs at his answer. "It is night time! You can't see the sun!" He whines but Yoongi simply chuckles, covering his face.
"I can see it." He remains calm but protesting his baby's words.
Jimin doesn't bite his answer and simply humphs louder, crossing his arms and looking at Yoongi who hasn't stopped looking at him.
"In my defence, I am looking at the sun right now."
His heart starts beating crazily. Jimin keeps on gazing at him as his cheeks are slowly turning into a rosy colour because he understood what Yoongi meant with his comment. He loves it. He loves to see the younger boy a blushing mess due to his words. He loves the way his chubby cheeks turn cuter. It sounds impossible but Jimin can be even cuter than usual.
"Hyung…" Jimin whines, obviously embarrassed by his hyung's cheeky reply.
Hearing his heart pumping loudly in his chest, it makes him wonder if Jimin's heart is doing the same. He wants their heartbeats to match. He wants their hearts to be together, pumping as if they are meant to be only one. Destined to be together.
"You're the star that shines the most right now."
It is said that if love is pure, their hearts will follow the same speed. Yoongi wants it. He also hopes to be the reason why Jimin's heart is racing at such an inhuman pace because Jimin is the reason why Yoongi's heart is doing that.
"I can't believe I love someone as cheesy as you, Yoonie"
If it was a normal situation, Yoongi would have teased Jimin back yet hearing him saying the words 'I', 'love', 'you' and his own name in the same sentence just said by Jimin makes his eyes widen. He wasn't expecting it.
"I love you too, Jiminie."
It feels nice to let it out. It feels nice because he is saying it directly to the person he loves.
The moment the stars in the sky are no longer important and the only star he seems to focus is on the ground, Jimin leans forward and their lips connect. Nothing more than a heartfelt touch of two lips. But it isn't a simple kiss. Because their kiss transmits love and pureness. It conveys all of their emotions and connects them through a touch. Making them feel as one. Yoongi feels like a sunflower, who embraces the darkness of the moon and loves to waltz under the light of the sun in front of him.
"My Starflower." Yoongi says once they break apart from their kissing. Jimin is breathing loudly, still a little dizzy from their kissing.
Jimin titles his head. "Not Sunflower?"
"StarFlower because the sun is the brightest star we can see and you're the one that shines that most for me."
"Aish…" Jimin whines, turning his back to Yoongi whole covering his face, hiding due to the embarrassing feeling.
Yoongi wants to say so much more. He wants to yell so many more beautiful words to Jimin because he deserves it. He deserves to hear words that can compare to his beauty — even though it is hard. A beautifully unique person named StarFlower.
"Hyung." Jimin calls him. Yoongi hums and the younger boy places his hands on his cheeks and brings Yoongi's face closer to his. His lips touch Yoongi's nose and a shivering sensation spreads through his body.
How nice.
"You know…"
Yoongi nods, smiling. "I know."
