Chapter Text
It's a normal day as usual.
Well, the streets were actually a little crowded.
Shou had recently moved in with his mom, and he was buying food for his pet hamster. A piece of paper was in his hand; consisting of all the chores he still hadn't completed. He would finish them eventually.
Not that it was boring or anything, he really didn't mind completing a few tasks. They were always finished quickly, and sometimes he'd bump into Teru or even Mob and have a small conversation on the way back home.
Though, there was still a sense of paranoia wherever he went places with a lot of people. It didn't matter if they were weak, or strong, or the embodiment of lazy, he always had a weird feeling in his gut that something wasn't right. Maybe it was anxiety, or maybe it was something else.
He kind of wished he paid attention to it more often.
A door swung open, and Shou stepped inside the pet shop. Animals of all kinds surrounded him, almost like a mini zoo.
He made his way to the back where the hamster food was located, along with fish tanks and bird seed. The tanks rested on one side while the animal feed rested on the other.
Someone obviously didn't care where they were placed; because a few of them had small cracks at the bottom.
The different sounds of the animals could be heard, mostly the occasional woof from a dog and chirping of birds.
He didn't really mind it at all. He eventually got used to the mixture of noises and kind of felt bad for the animals. And, well, he would be screaming his head off too if he was doomed to live in a cage forever.
Suzuki actually lets his hamster out very often, much to the fright of his mom. It was a little worrying since it could squeeze through a hole in the wall if it wanted to, but his pet never went missing.
Well; that he knew of at least.
Shou skimmed over the different brands, settling on the same thing he always got for his pet. It was a purple bag with a hamster logo on it and other stuff he didn't bother reading.
He wanted to try to mix it up, wondering if his hamster ever got bored of the same old food, but nothing was cheaper.
He plopped the bag onto the counter.
"Oh, hello Shou! Doin' chores again for your mom?"
He responded, "Yep. I have to pick up some stuff from the grocery store next."
Shou placed the money on the counter, which was then picked up and put into the cash register.
"It's getting late, so you might wanna hurry home now. Take care!"
So he took the food and made his way to the exit.
The grocery store wasn't exactly close. It would be easier to just drop the pet food off at home, but then again he could just carry it with his powers.
"Shou?"
The voice was familiar.
He spun around, and his assumption was correct.
"Oh, hey Ritsu! I didn't think you'd be out late. That's kind of rare for you."
Ritsu tilted his head, "I wanted to go for a walk is all. Your still doing chores for your mom?"
Shou nodded. "I would of done them this morning but I had stuff to study, and it wouldn't hurt to slack off every now and then anyway." He shrugged.
"..What time does your mom even get home?"
"She leaves at twelve and usually comes back home at ten. So, she's probably gonna be home soon."
Ritsu hummed, "Well, do you need help with anything?"
He thought about it. A little help would be really useful, but he could still do it himself. It was a little confusing to him, he wasn't ever scared to ask for help, so why was he now?
"No, I can do it myself. Why do you ask that?"
Kageyama squinted. "You look tired. Like, really tired. Have you looked in a mirror?"
Suzuki huffed, "Pfft. Just cause I look tired doesn't mean I am tired. What, do you care about me?" He joked.
"..Of course I care about you."
"I was joking."
"Oh."
It was silent for a moment. Shou broke the silence. "Well, I gotta go now."
"See you in school tomorrow then."
Suzuki watched Ritsu walk down the sidewalk, before eventually disappearing out of his eyesight.
And for some reason, Shou thought; 'what was i doing here again?'
