It was a truly wonderful feeling to wake up in the strong, protective arms of Zewu-jun, back pressed up against the sect leader's sturdy chest. His inner robe had slipped off a shoulder, be it naturally or because a certain Lan sect leader intentionally did so. Whatever the case, Meng Yao felt as those marvelous lips trickled kisses from his shoulder up to his neck. He instinctively craned his neck to grant the man more area for exploration. Each peck set his skin aflame with a delicious tingling sensation, memories of last night surfacing to the forefront of his mind, until…
"Good morning, A-Yao," Lan Xichen greeted innocently, this time placing a chaste kiss to the side of Meng Yao's head.
A small smile formed on his lips at the gesture as he temporarily glanced over his shoulder best he could. "Good morning to you, Zewu-jun."
Lan Xichen couldn't help sighing in response. He didn't understand why Meng Yao insisted on being so formal. They were friends, more than friends really. Especially after last night. Their time together, giving of themselves to each other in body and soul, had been absolutely incredible. Meng Yao was his first, and hopefully his only. Lan Xichen couldn't ever imagine giving his heart to anyone else, not in the way he had with A-Yao. His A-Yao.
"We talked about this, didn't we?" He reminded the gorgeous man within his embrace. "There's no need to be formal with me. I told you to call me by my birth name."
Meng Yao nodded. "I know, it's just that I'm so used to calling you Zewu-jun."
"But I want you to get used to calling me, A-Huan, yes?" Unable to handle himself around the adorable man, Xichen placed a tender kiss to the soft cheek. He watched with joy as that very cheek dimpled, a telltale sign that his A-Yao was beaming from ear to ear.
In that moment, Lan Xichen wanted nothing more than to see that beautiful face brimming with happiness. He greedily wanted that look directed at him rather than the wall Meng Yao was currently facing. And so, he loosened his hold on the smaller man, gently guiding him onto his back. The dark-haired beauty now gazed in his direction, offering him a light smile. But that wasn't quite what the Lan sect leader wanted, and so he tried achieving his goal through other means.
Cupping a porcelain cheek, he leaned in close and rubbed his nose against Meng Yao's. Not only was he graced by that gorgeous smile he so longed to see, his ears were also gratified by the wonderful little giggle that slipped past those pretty lips.
Oh how he adored the sounds of Meng Yao's laughter. No music could ever compare to the melodic register of his A-Yao's natural instrument. In fact, that precious giggle was one of the most beautiful things Xichen had ever heard in his life.
The first time he'd heard it had been about a week ago, back when he attempted to help Meng Yao with the laundry. Rather than help, he ended up making an absolute mess of the clothes. After that incident, both men agreed that Meng Yao would remain in charge of that particular chore. Lan Xichen was embarrassed, of course, not being able to do something as simple as washing clothes, but it had earned him the most rewarding of treasures.
Ever since that day, Xichen wanted to keep hearing Meng Yao's joyous sounds every chance he got. He wanted to put a smile on that lovely porcelain face, always. And truth be told, he wanted to live a happy, simple life with his A-Yao.
He wanted to get away from the politics, from the matters of war, from the duties and demands that came with being a sect leader. But he couldn't just walk away from it all, it was not that easy.
Setting those thoughts aside for now, he refocused his attention on the precious man who'd captivated his heart. Leaning in close, he captured those soft lips with his own, gingerly stroking Meng Yao's smooth cheek with the pad of his thumb. Lan Xichen wanted nothing more than to spend as much quality time with A-Yao as possible before he would inevitably have to return home.
