Work Text:

Jeffrey hummed as he gazed upon the massive number of used notebook papers strewn about his apartment floor. They were pages upon pages of his writing, everything from notes to actual chapters of his latest story. He sighed and put down the page he was holding.

"Not what I'm looking for," he mumbled, his rabbit like ears sagging. He lifted up another page. The cabbit repeated this process a few more times.

"Ugh! Where is it?" he exclaimed, his long, feline tail swishing behind him.

He huffed in agitation as he threw the papers he was currently holding into the air and flopped onto the carpeted floor, resting one of his arms over his eyes. After laying like that for a bit, Jeffrey's ears perked to the sound of the front door opening and closing then a soft giggling.

"I think you need a break, dear," a familiar, feminine voice commented.

Jeffrey groaned in response, causing another giggle to occur.

"Come on, Jeffrey," the voice cooed. "Join me for lunch."

Another groan left the man's throat.

"It's stuffed crust, supreme pizza," the voice chirped.

The mention of one of his favorites elicited a soft growl from Jeffrey's stomach, causing the cabbit to get up off the floor and head over to the couch where his girlfriend, Rayne was waiting for him.

"I knew you wouldn't be able to resist this," Rayne gestured to the pizza on the coffee table before leaning over and giving Jeffrey a peck on the cheek as he sat down beside her.

"Of course I wouldn't. You're irresistible," he commented.

"Yes. The pizza really is, wait a minute," she halted for a moment. "Jeffrey?"

Jeffrey hummed in response, taking a bite of pizza.

"Did... did you just call me irresistible?" she asked.

Jeffrey hummed for a moment as he pretended to think about it, "No. I don't think so," he remarked, feigning innocence.

"You did!" she exclaimed. "Do it again." Jeffrey shook his head.

"Why not?" she asked.

"Mouth's full," he replied, purposefully taking another bite. "Not polite."

Rayne huffed, "You did that on purpose," she quipped, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Hmm, maybe," he replied. "But, then again maybe not." He smirked.

Much to the cabbit's amusement a growl resounded from his feline girlfriend's throat and her long tail was swishing about.

"Ugh! You can be such a punk sometimes," she huffed, her ears lowered. Jeffrey chuckled a bit at this.

"It's not funny!" Rayne growled, her hair and tail fuzzed out. Jeffrey busted out laughing from this sight, unable to control himself.

"I said, it's not funny!" she exclaimed, punching his shoulder in a playful manner. When he didn't stop she continued, now attacking both shoulders and even his chest.

"Ah! Hey! R-Rae! Stop that!" he exclaimed, trying to block her hits with his arm.

"No! Not until you say sorry," she quipped.

"For what?" he asked.

"For being a punk," she replied, pushing him against the couch.

"I-I'm not a punk," he protested.

"Are too!" she argued, jabbing him in the chest.

"Are not!" he said, blocking her with the nearby throw pillow.

"You are! You can be so snarky and stubborn at times," she remarked.

"Aww, now you're just being mean, Rae," Jeffrey whimpered, his smile hidden behind the pillow.

Rayne growled at his facade, "I can't stand when you do this!" she exclaimed, crossing her arms as her tail thumped angrily. This action caused Jeffrey's control to crumble and he revealed a full smile to her.

"I knew you were faking," Rayne remarked, jabbing the cabbit's arm once more.

Jeffrey chuckled, "I couldn't help it, Rae," he cooed. "You're so cute when angry."

Rayne huffed, squeaking a minute later as Jeffrey blew into her ear.

"That's very cute, too," he purred as he took in the sight of his usually calm, girlfriend's flustered face.

"Y-you--" she began.

"Me?" he pointed to himself, feigning ignorance.

Rayne groaned loudly, clearly frustrated, "Do you enjoy doing this to me?" she asked.

Jeffrey hummed for a moment, "Let's see..." he replied. "... Yes."

Another growl escaped Rayne's throat, "Just eat your pizza!" she quipped, taking a bite of her's.

Jeffrey chuckled again before starting on his second slice as Rayne worked on her first. The silence that fell over them was calming and something that tended to happen regularly. Usually only broken by Jeffrey's occasional humming.

"So," Rayne started after awhile. "What had you so worked up earlier?"

"Earlier?" Jeffrey asked, finishing his last slice.

"When I walked in with lunch you were lying on the floor," she remarked. "You looked pretty upset."

"Ah, that," he said. "I was frustrated."

"About what?" she asked.

Jeffrey began explaining to her how he had been searching his many notebooks for the chapter of his latest novel since she had left the apartment earlier and that unfortunately, he hadn't had any luck finding it.

"I'll have to rewrite that whole chapter again, I suppose," he sighed, face palming as his ears sagged and disappeared into his dark hair.

Rayne shook her head, "No, you won't," she said. "I'll help you find it."

"Really?" he asked.

"Of course," she chirped. "Together, we'll find it."

A slight smile twitched at Jeffrey's lips, "Thanks, Rae," he said.

"Anything for you," she cooed. "Let's get to searching.

With that said Jeffrey hopped off the couch and lead Rayne over to the spread out papers on the floor and began to look through them. They searched and searched, making sure to keep each paper and notebook in two separate piles, one for things they've read and the other for unread.

"Hmm, I don't see it anywhere," Rayne said after awhile.

"Me either," Jeffrey sighed, putting another notebook in the 'Read' pile.

"This is why you should use a laptop like me," she remarked. "It's more organized."

Another sigh fell from Jeffrey's lips, "I know but, I love writing on paper," he said. "It... it just feels right." Rayne nodded at this, knowing exactly what her sweetheart meant.

"Hmm, where did I put it?" he questioned himself.

Rayne smiled to herself as she listened to his mumbling, continuing to look. She stopped as she spotted a paper titled 'This Feeling'.

"What's 'This Feeling' about?" she asked, catching Jeffrey's attention. His eyes widened and a blush covered his cheeks.

"O-oh! You don't want to read that," he quipped, rushing over to her.

"Yes, I do," she chirped, taking in the sight of her frantic boyfriend. "Especially, since you look like that."

Jeffrey growled for a moment. His blush grew darker as Rayne began to read the poem out loud and his long ears acted as a blindfold when she turned to look at him as she finished reading.

"Jeffrey, this was so..." she began.

"Stupid, right?" he asked, cutting her off.

"No. So..." she tried again.

"Foolish?" he remarked, biting his lip.

"No. So..." she started.

"Crazy, then?" he spat, trying to keep from crying.

"No," she said, a soft smile adorning her features. "Try the words sweet, romantic and beautiful."

"R-really?" he sniffled.

Rayne gave him a gentle kiss, "Really," she replied.

Hearing her confirmation, Jeffrey caressed the feline's cheek as he leaned in, planting a gentle but loving kiss on her lips. A soft, rare smile graced his features as he took in the sight before him. Rayne's chocolate eyes looked as if they were shimmering like diamonds, her cheeks had taken on a rosy hue and she wore the brightest smile he had ever seen.

"You're irresistible," Jeffrey purred, the star like flecks in his eyes glowing.

Rayne gave him a quick but passionate kiss, "I knew you had said that earlier," she quipped, smirking cutely.

"I did," Jeffrey admitted, a deep blush coating his cheeks from her kiss.

"To be honest, you're irresistible, too, handsome," she purred, pulling him into another kiss.

A moment or two later Jeffrey broke away, "U-u-um..." he stuttered, unable to form words for the time being.

Rayne giggled at his innocence, "Had enough for now?" she asked. Jeffrey averted his eyes and nodded.

"I understand," she replied. "Want to keep searching?"

Jeffrey shook his head, "No, I'll just rewrite it later," he said, starting to gather up his notebooks and papers.

"Okay," she chirped, starting to help him. "Movies and cuddles after this then?"

Jeffrey nodded, "Movies and cuddles," he agreed, a small smile twitching at his lips.
