Work Text:
“This book is full of many good name ideas,” Isabella said. “But, I’m not sure which one is the best.”
You personally wanted to use a name you had thought of on your own, but you didn’t want to discourage her. So, you flipped through the book with the love of your life and looked at all of the potential names you two could use for your unborn son.
“What about ‘Norman?’” Isabella suggested, pointing to a page.
You shook your head, and she gave a nod of agreement. “You’re right. That sounds like the name of a weirdo.” She went back to thumbing through the pages.
“What about that one?” you said, pointing to the page too.
“You want to name our child ‘Quincy?’ I’m not sure. Do you like the name ‘Ezra?’”
You shrugged and went back to peering at the book from beside her.
Suddenly, it came to you, and you placed a gentle hand on her shoulder to catch her attention. “I know the perfect name, Isabella…”
As she gazed up at you with eager, curious eyes, you told her the name that you’ve thought of. The perfect, beautiful name.
“Ray.”
Isabella says ‘yes’ and confirms that she agrees by throwing her arms around you in a warm hug.
