yellow daffodils

Summary:

"Did you know yellow daffodils represent new beginnings?" Taehyung quizzes, taking it upon himself to slouch over the limited counter space the two now share as he holds the two yellow daffodils in view. His eyes flick to Hoseok and for reasons unknown, the shiver that runs down his spine at the straightforward eye contact feels different this time around. "I want this to be our new beginning,"

Hoseok resembles that of a deer in the headlights, eyes full of surprise and cheeks dusted with timidity. With that sight alone, fondness shapes the easy smile on Taehyung's face, the sight like a breath of fresh air to Hoseok, whose lungs struggle to expand.

"I'll be back on Friday," Taehyung states, but the question etched with a certain softness into his expression suggests that this asks of a response on Hoseok's end, to which is achieved as he sheepishly nods and Taehyung walks out the door, taking Hoseok's heart with him.

Work Text:

Accepting the job offer to work at the local flower shop two blocks away from his university's grand and lavish campus, Hoseok observes, entails a sequence of events that shed light to the abandoned meadow of melancholic flowers wilting away within him, the flowers regaining their shine and shape as they are permitted to grow beyond the vastness of his lungs to his heart, where love blooms once again.

Tucked away in the quaint and home-like corner store detailed with windows, windows and more windows, the ever persistent scent of damp umber brown soil reinforced by the delightful mix and match of the various flowers that shared one and the same roof over their heads. Hoseok is mesmerized by the vibrancy of the flowers, petals soft to the touch dipped in hues so bright and adoring that he takes it upon himself to learn of the very nature of flowers he treasures most, inspired to keep their glow present and growth steady. Shop owner and botanist enthusiast, Kim Seokjin, assures him that additional labour is not necessary, as he is solely employed to smile his way into the hearts of customers and persuade them into providing a home for the flowers in full bloom in the store. Despite this, Hoseok finds himself enamored with his bundle of green friends and gives his job his all, taking in deep breaths to savor the moment of satisfaction that weaves its arms around him like a compassionate hug. He thinks it can't get any better than this: the stresses of everyday college life discarded at the door, gracing smiles brimming with happiness on newlyweds or bringing back the relaxed posture and slow easy breathing to a grieving customer. But, somehow, it does and it comes in the form of Kim Taehyung.

It is only of recent that Hoseok comes to know his name, curiosity getting the better of him as he wonders who could it be that frequents the flower shop, and on a unmistakably schedule too. 3:00 PM on Mondays, 5:00 on Wednesdays and sometimes during a late Friday afternoon. The bell chime rings and Hoseok welcomes him with a friendly smile, a nod of acknowledgement sent in return before Taehyung soundlessly migrates throughout the store, simply observing the flowers, for all their effortless beauty, before he either departs or purchases a single flower. Hoseok doesn't think much of it, or so he says, but in actuality, he finds himself thinking about Taehyung. A lot. Thinks of his head full of mocha curls that his slender fingers run through in an absentminded nature, thinks of his striking pecan brown eyes and how lusciously long his eyelashes flutter against one another, thinks of how his smile holds a wide range of expression that are all deemed angelic in Hoseok's eyes, thinks of how his generous lips are punch pink in color and always moisturized. He wants to kiss them, delicate and gentle, as his heart wrecks havoc on his bruised chest because Taehyung's mere existence sends his heart into a stutter. This is nothing but a mere phase of infatuation, an intense but short-lived phenomenon that by the time winter blankets Seoul in a chilling white blanket of snow, would be reduced to a insignificant memory.

Or so he thinks.

One Wednesday, a little after five pm, with rays of apricot and honey seeping their way through the expanse of the store's windows, Taehyung has made a haste of his experience at the charming establishment and Hoseok is already wrapping his two separate yellow daffodils. They are vivid with happiness, their illumination gracing Hoseok with the lightness of his limbs and the smile on his lips. After he's finished packaging the flowers, he hands them over in exchange for money that Taehyung wordlessly hands over. As he places Taehyung's money in the register, he can't help but get the feeling that Taehyung is different today. Arms folded over his plain white t-shirt, he hums the melody of some jazz song, tapping his foot along as his eyes look anywhere but in Hoseok's direction. Maybe he knows of Hoseok's little crush on him, maybe he's grown uncomfortable with the looks Hoseok swears Taehyung didn't catch wind of, maybe this is his last trip to the flower shop and Hoseok has to kiss his fantasy goodbye.

Better now than never, Hoseok thinks. And, with that, he hands over the receipt to Taehyung and in a leveled voice tinged with a touch of melancholy, says, "Thank you for your purchase. Come again soon."

Taehyung accepts the receipt with the grasp of his soft yet large hand, eyes heavily trained on the sheet of paper with the flowers in the other hand. He stills for a moment, teeth sinking into his lips as he ponders his next move. Hoseok feels himself becoming defensive, concrete walls shooting sky high as his arms cross over his chest and he squints in a missable motion. He wants to ask Taehyung what's going on, but before he can even begin to contemplate how to articulate himself, Taehyung speaks first.

"Did you know yellow daffodils represent new beginnings?" Taehyung quizzes, taking it upon himself to slouch over the limited counter space the two now share as he holds the two yellow daffodils in view. His eyes focus on Hoseok with unwavering determination and for reasons unknown, the shiver that runs down his spine at the straightforward eye contact feels different this time around. "I want this to be our new beginning,"

Hoseok is confused, eyebrows furrowed and lips parted without the utterance of a word, unsure what to make of what unfolds before his eyes. Taehyung, on the other hand, seems to know exactly what's going on and cements that as he hands over one of the daffodils, placing the flower into Hoseok's hand with a gentle touch that sets Hoseok's skin ablaze.

-

It is closing time the following Friday and as Hoseok secures the final lock on Sweet Stems' door, heavy thumps of rushing footsteps approach him and he turns his head, finding his eyes following Taehyung's movements as he runs up to him, hands on his knees and he hunches over and heaves erratically once he's near enough. Hoseok blinks, depositing his set of the store's keys in his sleek charcoal satchel and gazes upon Taehyung, who after a few beats stands tall.

His radiant skin glimmers with a thin layer of sweat, cheeks flushed and hair blown by the wind. Hoseok starts to feel embarrassed over the acceleration in his heartbeat.

"My lecture ran late," The scrunch of his face sends a clear message of mild frustration. He lets out a quick exhale, his smile sheepish as he offers a plan, "If you perhaps are free right now, could we talk over some coffee? There's a quaint coffee shop with lots of options to choose from and feels as homely as this flower shop."

Hoseok isn't actually free right now. The twelve page academic essay he's only managed to halfway work through with a due date marked for the end of the week looms like a grey cloud over his head. But then again, when is he ever going to get invited to coffee with a cute guy?

Never, his actions demonstrate, as reservation promotes the roundness of his cheeks that are dimpled in delight, two nods enough of an answer for Taehyung to huff out a chuckle of satisfaction and lead the way.

-

Taehyung is surprisingly right in terms of the sentiment tied to the ambience of the coffee shop they quietly stroll to, Hoseok fully embracing the tenderness of penny colored brick walls and fairy lights that transform the establishment into another dimension of serenity. Due to the late hours in which the two arrive to the coffee shop, inhabitants are scarce and their conversation is promised to be shared just between the two of them. Taking into account Hoseok's sweet tooth, Taehyung orders two mochas and under ten minutes, their dense mugs are left on their gingerbread brown table as dialogue takes top priority.

"You attend Yonsei, right?" Taehyung questions, bringing his mug to his lips and taking a sip. There's a bit of foam left on his lips, which he's quick to lick away. Hoseok takes note as he nods. "I haven't seen you around campus,"

"Well, I'm in the Department of Nursing," Hoseok answers. "Third year."

"Department of Fine Arts," Gripping one hand with another, Taehyung shifts his enthusiasm into a physical mould. "Which is on the other side of the campus."

"Oh," Taehyung's eyes light up with remembrance, bashfulness configured into a closed mouth smile. "Second year."

Judging by how Taehyung's grown exceptionally well into his model-like features, Hoseok always assumed Taehyung was in the same year and the same age as him. He kind of feels foolish for indulging in countless fantasies with someone so attractive on top of someone younger, who's probably exposed to a different realm of people.

Deciding not to drown himself in a lack of self confidence, he sets his sights on being direct.

"What did you mean," Hoseok starts, clearing his throat. "By what you said on Wednesday?"

"That I want the daffodils to be our new beginning?" confirms Taehyung, eyebrows raised.

Hoseok suddenly feels hot, the surface below his skin taking on a scolding hot temperature. "Yes," he grumbles begrudgingly with a look directed out the window.

A thoughtful hums escapes Taehyung's lips that pulls Hoseok's attention in his near direction, observing as Taehyung mediates on his answer with a long swig of his mocha which is near finished when he places the mug back onto the table. For someone who strikes Hoseok as confident, the small movements Taehyung makes in order to make himself feel obscure is a side of him that's refreshingly relatable to Hoseok. He understands, and gives Taehyung all the time he needs to articulate his feelings without a fault.

"Ever since I first saw you at Sweet Stems," eyes trained on the actions of his hands that play with his opened sweetener, he takes a bit to build up the courage to be candid. "I've been...wanting to see you more. With that being said, I chose to follow through with that want and as each visit went by, though interactions were minor, I learned something new about you almost every time."

"Like," Discomfort folds his lips into a pout, one hand going to scratch his neck as his ears turn rose red. "how kind you are regardless of the treatment you may get from customers. Or, how you've been treating the flowers with more care and taking initiative to make sure things beyond your customers are well maintained."

Taehyung clears his throat, eyes hastily shooting from side to side. "Or, how, um, how bright your smile is. It's-It's something I want to see more of, and maybe," his speech slows, "even be the cause of."

Hoseok coughs, the abrupt abundance of praise too much to bare.

"I know this confession is sudden," To say the least. "But, my intentions are real. I'd like, if you'd let me, for you to see that - by giving me the chance to get to know you as more than the Hoseok that works at Sweet Stems."

Silence assigns itself amongst the pair, Hoseok taking the time to ponder on the prospect of the unlikelihood of his crush confessing his romantic feelings to him becoming very much likely, if not set in stone according to Taehyung. As someone who's always been the one to chase after a person for a chance at romance, the predicament Hoseok realizes he's in is uncomfortably foreign and leaves him gripping at the wind for answers that are not there.

Nonetheless, one answer he manages to snag presents itself as a fact. He is drawn to Taehyung. The incomplete image of him clumsily packed with fantasy fillers isn't enough, Hoseok admits. He wants to get to know Taehyung for who he is, slowly but surely filling his image of him with more fact than fiction.

In view of this, Hoseok can finally face Taehyung, his wish to convey honesty overpowering his shyness. "I'd like to see that through. To get to know you more than the Taehyung who is a regular at work."

Taehyung happily taps his fingers against the table with a boxy beam that's transferable, the joy Hoseok feels transmitted through the tapping of his feet and feeling of breathlessness. The latter in particular, registers as a sentiment that will visit him more often than not as Taehyung makes an effort to be in his life.

-

"I think it's time I get a new tattoo."

Hoseok, who is very much engrossed in his delectable lunch that fills his empty stomach, can't help but stop mid bite, stainless steel chopsticks gleaming from the above circular cotton colored LED lights as grains of fried rice fall back onto his tray. Noticing the halt in his movements, Hoseok's friend, Jimin lowers his phone, directing his gaze back at Hoseok before his eyes awkwardly move from side to side.

"Did I say something wrong?" queries Jimin, tone doused in scepticism.

Sensing an impending interrogation he may face if he doesn't get his act together, Hoseok resumes his previous movements, shaking his head 'no' as he diligently chews a mouthful of fried rice.

"Because I thought I did." Jimin stuffs a peanut butter covered apple slice into his mouth.

As he finishes up the last of his chewing, Hoseok unconsciously begins to squirm, his gaze scattered as his eyes bounce from object to object, anywhere but in the line of sight of Jimin. Jutting his chin out, Hoseok's chopsticks circle around the remainder of his food aimlessly, preoccupied with the thought that he has yet to disclose Taehyung's existence, nor his intentions to pursue a romantic relationship with Hoseok. He's not exactly sure why he hasn't said anything, considering how open he is with his affairs, especially when it comes to Jimin. Somehow, this time, it's different. Hoseok wants to take things slow, sitting back as he observes everything fall into place as opposed to his past romantic interests, where it is all hastiness and instant gratification, which as you can guess, didn't leave the candle of their relationship burning for too long.

But then again, he'd appreciate hearing any advice or opinion Jimin may have on the matter and ultimately feels that it is in his best interest to share.

"Well," Hoseok starts, a hard and obvious swallow traveling down his throat as he wets his lips and gives a jerky nod of assent. There's a certain reluctance and timidity blended into Hoseok's actions - Jimin arches an eyebrow, listening nevertheless. "There's just this guy who I know who could do the work for you,"

"A guy, huh?" Hoseok doesn't even have to look up to see Jimin's facial expression, as he can clearly hear the smirk, intertwined with a tone that is teasing and sly. "What's his name?"

Hoseok crimsons, opting to distract himself from the escalating heat raging underneath the surface of his skin as he collects a generous serving of kimchi. "Taehyung." he answers quickly, stuffing his cheeks until they're full.

"Taehyung," Jimin muses, testing the syllables of his name in a manner that Hosoek cannot avoid but feel restless in response to. "How did you two meet?"

"At Sweet Stems," he makes out as he chewes quicker than usual rather than providing his undivided attention to the topic at hand. At this stage, Hoseok's heartbeat is thudding at max volume, echoing throughout his body as if it is nothing but a shell. He huffs through his nose and bites the bullet. "He gave me a daffodil."

Hoseok is convinced he's miraculously conducted a successful trip back to his high school days as the excitement beaming from Jimin (who he's finally decided to look at) mirrors the behavior that of his female classmates that often indulged in the enthusiasm surrounding crushes. Giggling behind small hands accented abundantly with his favorite additions to his silver rings collection, his eyebrows dance in a way that is bothersome and Hoseok has to battle fighting the smile that wants nothing more to expand across his face.

"It's not a big deal, ok?" Hoseok attempts to clarify but judging by how Jimin's demeanor hasn't changed a hint, Hoseok's statement has flown straight over his head.

"Ok," Jimin echoes, willing himself to calm down as he catches the curious glances of those sitting nearby before locking eyes with Hoseok, cheeks as pink as his manicured nails and tangerine strands of hair tousled in a controlled mess. "Seeing as it is not a big deal, I want you to come with me when I get my tattoo."

Jimin is testing him and Hoseok knows this. Usually, he isn't one to give in so easily to competition, but with how smug Jimin is, chest puffed out and eye contact probing as he tosses his hair back, Hoseok caves with his tongue nudging the inside corner of his lips as he states, "Deal."

The duo shake on their agreement and in an effort to prove this isn't a big deal, Hoseok visibly types a message to Taehyung, offering him business and experience wrapped in one with Jimin's request, to which he is swiftly answers to with an address and an array of animated emoticons of Line Friends' character, Cony, expressing surprise and gratefulness in that order.

-

As it turns out, the address Taehyung sent over text was in fact an apartment building, presumably Taehyung's residence. Considering the amount of sketchy places Hoseok has accompanied his friends in pursuit of permanent ink engrained into their bodies (most notably a rainy alleyway of a busy market by a merchant who didn't bother wearing gloves), this is an upgrade and would most likely be a pleasant experience. Of course, if Jimin wasn't running late.

jimin

where r u? i'm waiting outside!

He gets a response back almost immedialety.

i'll be there soon, go inside w/o me! <33

Hoseok grimaces at the thought of doing this alone, an emerging amplification of butterfly-led rush hour activating his fight-or-flight response. As much as a part of him is yelling frantically to hightail out of the circumference of Taehyung's apartment building, another part is more reasonable, explaining to Hoseok calmly the consequences of his actions, which whether good or bad, would have Hoseok feeling shitty regardless. So, discarding his option of fleeing, he expels a shaky breath and dares himself to walk inside and locate Taehyung's apartment.

After a brief elevator ride to the 7th floor, the doors open and before he knows it, he finds himself standing right in front of Taehyung's door. Amidst the mild quietness of the hallway, Hoseok can hear the faint hums of jazz music, the occasional snap of a finger and vocalization of the song's lyrics in a voice that's gruff and honeyed all together making its way into Hoseok's ears. Lips parted, Hoseok inhales and exhales with a noticeable move of his chest, gradually raising his hand to the door and as he spies the slight shake of his hand, his knuckles meet the surface of Taehyung's door.

"Coming!" Taehyung hollers distantly, the sound of his approaching footsteps resonating within Hoseok with a ting of excitement and terror.

The door opens and Hoseok's robbed of the limited oxygen coursing through his lungs. In between the last time Hoseok remembers seeing Taehyung, which was maybe a week ago, the strands of his then tightly permed mocha brown hair had transformed into an eye-catching, loosely curled sapphire blue. Seeming to have settled on a raven black sleeveless shirt with exaggerated arm holes, the expanse of his upper arms sculpted with soft curved muscles and extensively elaborate tattoos, crafted with the finest hand as even the smallest details stand out. Hoseok holds back the urge to invade Taehyung's personal space without his consent, index finger running along the lines of his tattoos with a snail's pace, cherishing the thought of being so intimately close to Taehyung.

"You made it," Taehyung's tone is bubbly, showing in more ways than his smile as his tan skin glimmers under the muted lighting of his apartment. "I hope you didn't have any trouble finding this place."

Hoseok gulps, throat abruptly dry. "No, not at all."

"Great," Taehyung gestures inside the apartment. "Please, come in."

Hoseok enters, limbs carefully kept to himself as he hears Taehyung close the door behind him. Catching sight of the squash brown wooden shoe cabinet near the doorway, he slips off his shoes, opening the cabinet and is pleasantly surprised by what he sees.

"Ah, I love Line Friends!" Hoseok gushes, beaming as he replaces his black and red Jordans for bumblebee yellow slippers with adorable baby chick character, Sally plastered on the upper vamp. "Especially Sally and Brown."

Taehyung taps his slippers against the hazelnut vinyl flooring and as Hoseok observes, out of all the possibilities in the universe, Taehyung is wearing Brown slippers.

"Brown and Leonard are my favorites." Taehyung grins as Hoseok pops on his slippers with unexpected ease.

"Leonard's pretty cute too," Hoseok stands to his feet, noting the few centimeters taller Taehyung is than him. "Wish he had as much hype as Ryan has."

"Right?"

Conversation flows so easily between the two, leaving no space for excruciating quietness that unfortunately plagued infrequent moments of previous encounters where Taehyung pioneered in making conversation and Hoseok, held back his nerves, couldn't exactly meet him halfway. Hoseok's body relaxes, losing its rigid posture as he allows himself to enjoy this moment for what it is, following behind Taehyung as he leads him further into his apartment, jasmine with a hint of japchae (stir-fried noddles) filling Hoseok's nose as his curious eyes explore every inch of Taehyung's apartment.

It isn't as spacious as the apartment he shares with his longtime friend, Yoongi, but Taehyung makes the best of the space, charming furniture deliberately placed to create the illusion of more space. Distinctive Neo-Expressionism art occupyies the majority of empty places on the walls, a Renaissance painting here and there. In what Hoseok assumes is another bedroom is converted into a miniature tattoo shop, a vast collection of Taehyung's designs along with vintage posters and flashing stickers coinciding with an aesthetic unique to Taehyung on the walls. In the corner, Taehyung's phone sits upon a speaker, the source of music. The room appears to tick off safety precautions Hoseok had read on the train ride there, an lingering smell of bleach-based disinfectant coming from the surfaces of tables and chairs.

"Is Jimin running late?" Taehyung asks, diverting his attention to getting his work station ready.

And, it dawns on him. Jimin's supposed to be here!

His heart accelerates at the sudden realization, pulling out his phone to see two texts from the man himself.

"He's not coming?!" Hoseok exclaims in disbelief, realizing after the fact the excessive volume of his voice as he brings his free hand to his lips and mumbles a sheepish, "sorry."

"How come?"

"Says he forgot he was supposed to be going out with his family since they're in town," Hoseok communicates, purposely leaving out the last text which read, 'guess you and tae will be left alone :( hehe'

There is a tightness in his chest, a groan of frustration on the tip of his tongue. Of course Jimin had 'plans' and couldn't come by, leaving Taehyung and Hoseok alone together. Hoseok has to laugh. He should have seen this coming.

He turns to face Taehyung, his heart the weight of an anchor as he drowns deeper and deeper into somberness on Taehyung's part. He feels sorry for wasting Taehyung's time and effort.

"Since I have everything set up," Taehyung begins, taking one or two steps with wide strides, hands occupied with a spray bottle, a disposable cloth and a razor. He plots himself down onto the charcoal tattoo chair, emptying the contents of his hand onto the tray nearby. "I think I'll continue shading the tattoo I started working on a few months ago,"

Arching his right leg upwards, he carefully rolls the end of his flare pants up, revealing the lush design of an extravagantly outlined and partially shaded red spider lily on his shin. Common throughout Asia, the flower is no stranger to Hoseok as it is often asked for, or advised to dispense for traditional funerals. Despite its disheartening place in society, it is said to be a symbol of reincarnation. Hoseok knows better than to probe, evaluating the topic as too sensitive to question. Him and Taehyung don't have that kind of relationship. Not yet, at least.

"You're welcome to stay. Though, I can't promise to entertain you—" Hoseok takes a nearby rolling stool and moves it closer to Taehyung, taking his seat with a satisfied smile. Taehyung gives a laugh. "-to the best of my abilities."

"The tattoo looks beyond amazing," Hoseok comments, eyes fixated on Taehyung's instinctive and almost relaxed motions as he sprays the green soap and water mixture over the tattoo, using his teeth to ripe open the package with a disposable cloth. Hoseok blushes as his eyebrows rise in shock for finding such a mundane action attractive. He has to clear his throat before he speaks. "I'm curious to see how it'll transform as you work on it."

"You and me both." Taehyung jokes as he begins properly prepping the area before his electric tattoo machine is out and it roars to life. "Here we go~!"

The mere hour Hoseok spends in Taehyung's soothing company as he completes the shading of the spider lily is something from the bottom of his heart, is grateful he enthusiastically agreed to. In addition to the impeccable mood of softly playing jazz music in the background, getting the opportunity to see Taehyung in his element made his heart feel light with inspiration, the passion and pure enjoyment of the task at hand moving Hoseok to invest more in his growing interest for flowers and even plants. To think, he went there to simply prove Jimin wrong, only to have cultivated motivation to do his best and a deeper appreciation for Taehyung. They chatter back and forth, the wall of timidity on Hoseok's end collapsing into a messy pile, allowing for easy conversation that makes the hour they spend together disappear in a blink of an eye. Once Taehyung's finished, an azure blue sky dusted in the tiniest of stars and the fullest moon greets the two as they make their way out of the extra room.

"I had a great time," Hoseok makes clear as he ties his shoelaces. Standing tall and maintaining unabashed eye-contact with Taehyung, his heart shaped smile materializes and Taehyung finds himself mirroring it with his own box shaped smile. The attraction between the pair presents itself in high attendance, the electricity intermediate to them pulling their figures closer and closer together like a magnet. "Hopefully next time, I can be the one getting tattooed by you."

"It would be an honor to tattoo you." Hoseok can see, as clear as day, that Taehyung genuinely means that. The desire to press his lips against his is there, presenting itself as nothing he's ever experienced before, so demanding and near impossible to control.

It is then that Hoseok decides he doesn't need to put himself through such torture as he initiates the first move, taking a step closer to Taehyung. "I'll see you at Sweet Stems," he says in a low, almost distant tone as his eyes busy themselves with flicking from the view of Taehyung's lips to the pecan of his eyes. "Or on campus."

"The sooner, the better."

Taehyung takes a step forward and Hoseok's starting to lose his breath as he vividly catches sight of Taehyung's tongue run across the expanse of his bottom lip as his gaze lowers itself to Hoseok's lips. His chest, bruised purple and blue, takes the beating Hoseok assess as the most nervous yet excited he's ever been.

Taehyung's eyes find their way back to Hoseok's, silence devouring the duo.

"Can I kiss you?"

Tears are on the brink of collecting in the wells of Hoseok's eyes as the unsuspecting question of consent tries its best to make Hoseok melt into a puddle of himself. He has to take a breath, needs to before he unknowingly passes out in Taehyung's doorway.

"Yes."

And, Taehyung sweeps in and they are kissing. Taehyung's large and always warm hands cup the entirety of Hoseok's flaming cheeks, thumbs kindly caressing the space as their lips move in perfect harmony. Lips slightly cold yet undeniably sweet, Hoseok feels himself making his gradual ascent to the welcoming gates of heaven, angels singing their lullaby as the only thing keeping Hoseok tied down to Earth is his wavering grip against Taehyung's hips and waist, shapely and intoxicating. A breathless noise escapes the entanglement of their lips as Hoseok secures his fingers through the loops of Taehyung's pants, drawing him forward.

In the thick of their first intimate experience with one another, Hoseok feels Taehyung smile into the kiss, Hoseok's breath hitching before they share laughter between their lips.

They pull apart, Taehyung's arms broadly circling around Hoseok's neck. Taehyung's case of the giggles proves to be contagious as Hoseok snickers along.

"What's so funny?" asks Hoseok, very much endeared by Taehyung's simper.

"That I'm finally kissing you," Taehyung emphasizes with the buzz of the butterflies in Hoseok's stomach punctuating his sentence. "It feels too good to be true."

"Should we kiss to find out?" Hoseok teases with a goofy grin and the dance of his eyebrows, eliciting a huff of laughter out of Taehyung ahead of him humming in agreement before they kiss, sealing their fate in the comfort of Taehyung's apartment where yellow daffodils begin to grow.
