Work Text:

“Psst!  Isu!”  Wangnan hissed as the man passed his room.  “Are you busy?  I wanna talk to you about something.”

“Okay?”  Isu walked over to the blond, who pulled him inside.

“Can you hide us first?”

Isu gave him a strange look, but he complied, his Observers casting an invisibility net around them.  “Alright, this room will seem empty to anyone passing by.  What do you want to talk about?”

“Viole and Khun.”  Wangnan had met Bam as Viole, so he never bothered to convert to Bam.  None of them minded, anyways.

“What?”

“You’ve seen them, haven’t you?  They’re all over each other!  How are they not together at this point?” Wangnan exclaimed.

Isu thought.  Wangnan did have a point.  Even on the Second Floor, it wasn’t hard to see that Khun had a soft spot for Bam.  The blue-haired genius’ cold demeanor would drop every time he was talking to Bam, and Isu was pretty sure they snuck into each other’s rooms to sleep most of the time, anyways.  And he wasn’t with them during the entire Hell Train, but since Khun woke up from his coma, they had been really close.  Seriously, hugging in the middle of a battle?

(That had been pretty cute, though.  He still had the picture safely backed up on his Observer.  Never could be too careful with Khun around.)

…Yeah, okay, he could see why Wangnan would be frustrated.  “So you want to try and get them together or something?”

Wangnan nodded.  “They’re so in love they don’t even notice it.  The other day, after I finished training with Karaka, I passed by them, and Khun was laying on Viole’s lap.  And at first I was like ‘weird, Khun doesn’t usually like physical contact’ but then again, it was Viole, so whatever.  But then Viole reached down and started playing with his hair .  And not just touching it,” he added when Isu opened his mouth to speak.  “He was braiding Khun’s hair.”

Isu’s mouth dropped.  It was a well known fact that Khun didn’t let anyone near his hair.  The only time Isu had ever managed to touch it was after they helped wake Khun up.  And he was pretty sure the only reason he survived was because Khun was grateful enough to let him touch it just that once, and he was disoriented enough to not care.  The Lightbearer took a shower right after their chat, anyways.

“You sure they’re not dating already?” he asked doubtfully.

“I did consider that,” Wangnan said.  “But then I saw them both sleeping on opposite sides of Viole’s bed, completely apart from each other.  Wouldn’t couples…you know, sleep together?  And I know Viole doesn’t kick in his sleep.”

Isu frowned.  “Khun doesn’t move around much in his sleep either.”

“Exactly!  So the only reason they would sleep next to each other but nowhere close to touching would be because they’re both probably scared to get into each other’s personal space,” Wangnan concluded.

Isu tossed the facts around his head.  It wasn’t far-fetched at all to assume that both Khun and Bam were in love with each other.  Those two were inseparable.  After Khun woke up, Bam was adamant that they share a room.  But Wangnan raised a good point too.  “Did you ever ask them if they were dating?”

“I brought it up to Viole once,” Wangnan thought.  “I asked him if he loved Khun.  His answer was kinda vague, though.  And Khun called him over to review battle plans before he finished, so…”

“Well, okay…”  Isu nodded, thinking.  “Logically then, we should assume they aren’t dating until we get confirmation.  Did you actually plan to do something to get them together?”

“I mean…  I was wondering if there was a way to see if they were willing to sleep closer to each other?  Like maybe if we shrunk the bed or something?”

“You mean, switch it out for a smaller one?  That could work…” Isu eyed the bed in Wangnan’s room—all the bedrooms had same-sized beds.  “I don’t think we’ll be able to move the old one without a Lighthouse, though…”

“Maybe if we just destroy half of it?”  When Isu turned and gave him a questioning look, Wangnan elaborated, “Like, just take a knife and cut up some of it or something.  Then one of them would be forced to move closer to the other.”

“That could work…”  Isu mused.  “Where are Bam and Khun right now?”

“They said they’d be out getting supplies.  I think Endorsi’s chasing after them.  She’s suspicious too,” Wangnan said.  “Viole said they probably won’t be home until dinner.”

“So we have a few hours, then.”  Isu checked the time.  “Alright, let’s try that plan of yours.”

They run over to the couple’s room.  As they expected, it was empty, but Isu grabbed Wangnan’s arm before the blond stepped in.  “Hang on.  Khun usually puts up cameras in his room.  They turn on when he and Bam leave.”  He wasn’t really sure how sharp the cameras were, but most actual intruders wouldn’t think of checking for cameras, so his Observer projection field should be enough.  He snapped a picture of the room and projected an image of the untouched room in front of the cameras.  “Okay, I think we’re safe.  You have a knife?”

Wangnan pulled out a blade.  He didn’t like using knives that much, but most people did carry some sort of normal weapon for emergencies.  Isu had one as well.

“So do we just…stab the bedsheets?  Or…”

Wangnan plunged the knife into the mattress, shredding through the cloth easily, spilling white fluff all over the bed.

“Yeah, I guess that works,” Isu grinned and joined in.

He sort of felt bad for ripping up a perfectly good bed, but honestly, Wangnan had made him curious.  By the time they were done ransacking the bed, the room was full of white cotton.  Half of the bed was very much unusable.

Wangnan shook the fluff out of his hair.  “You think that’s good enough?”

“Should be.”  These were the times Isu liked having a nearly bald head.  No cotton could get stuck in there.  “I’ll set up a camera before we go, hang on.”  A few taps on his Observer, and he figured out how to connect them to the cameras.

“Great!  Let’s see what happens tonight.”  Wangnan rubbed his hands together eagerly.

They exited the room without a problem.  Isu slowly let the projection from his Observers fade, it wouldn’t completely disappear until a good half hour later, so it would be harder to guess a timeframe if Khun looked at the cameras.

Now all they had to do was wait.

Just as they said, Khun and Bam come back later in the night.  They had just started eating dinner when the duo walked in, laughing.  Isu can practically see the adoration in their eyes.  Wow, were they really that oblivious to each other?  He knew Khun tended to lock his emotions up and throw away the key, and Bam grew up quite literally under a rock, but still, it’s been more than ten years now.  Surely one of them should’ve figured it out.

“We ate dinner already,” Bam replied when Isu gestured towards the table, mouth too stuffed to speak.  Khun started taking groceries out of his Lighthouse.  Most of it was just food—meat for cooking, bananas for Rak, some chocolate and other snacks.  When all of that was stored away, he headed upstairs, Bam following right behind.  “We’ll go to sleep early tonight.  Shopping was tiring.”

Wangnan glanced at Isu.  Isu glanced back.  They watched the pair go upstairs and vanish.

Then Endorsi appeared in a flash of pink light.  “Ugh, finally.”

“Wow, you were actually able to follow them,” Anak commented.

Endorsi glared at her, but sighed, stretching.  “They literally had dinner at a rooftop restaurant.  If they’re not dating, I don’t know what they’re doing.”  She looked a little wistful as she spoke, but she had accepted a long time ago that Bam wasn’t going to return her feelings.  As long as he was happy, she could live with that.  “They shopped for necessities half the time and spent the rest of it literally doing every cliche couple thing I could think of,” she rolled her eyes.  “Bought coffee for each other, and then ice cream, they went to go see a movie for God’s sake.  Bam even gave Khun earrings.  Maybe the bed thing is just them being weird,” she directed the last part at Wangnan.

“Maybe…” Wangnan trailed off thoughtfully.

“Well, we can check the Observer later,” Isu suggested.  “For now, let’s finish eating.”

And after dinner, they gathered in the living room as Isu turned his Observer visible to check the camera.  But strangely, there was no one in the room.

“That’s odd, is the Observer malfunctioning…?”  Isu poked the device.

The screen flickered once, twice, and then finally, it showed the image of the two males sleeping together, arms wrapped tightly around each other.  Wangnan opened his mouth to shout, Endorsi slapped her hand over his mouth.  They watched as Khun pressed a light kiss to Bam’s forehead, and Bam responded by crashing their lips together passionately, pulling the blankets over them.

Then Khun looked up, directly at their camera , and stuck up his middle finger.

The screen went black.

“Did they…” Wangnan gaped at the screen.  Isu was equally flabbergasted.

“Alright I’m out,” Endorsi quickly walked away, just in time for the two shrill screeches.

“HOLY SH—”

Notes:

Inside their room, Bam and Khun listened to their friends’ astonished shrieks.  “Did they really think we didn’t know they were watching us?”  Khun almost looked offended.  “What kind of person do they take me for?”

Bam laughed, nuzzling into his neck.  “You owe me for that one night I couldn’t cuddle with you.  Wangnan is finding out now anyways.”

“Oh?  What do I owe you~”  Khun gasped as Bam nibbled on his bottom lip.  Gold irises stared into wide blue.

“I think you know,” Bam smirked.

“Mm.”  And Khun pulled him back down for the kiss.
