Not Who I Appear to be-Omegaverse

Summary:

Second Genders weren't really that big of a deal.

With quirks providing as much trouble as it did help, people didn't really have time to care or discriminate people based off of these second genders.

Alpha, Beta, Omega.

Everyone still acted the same, they were all human beings, after all.

Though, Izuku Midoriya always thought of second genders in a certain way. He observed things closely and knew that he had to hide who he was.

He didn't need anyone knowing who he really was.

Chapter 1: Getting Situated

Chapter Text

The boy nervously made his way to his destination, his green curls bouncing up and down with every step he took.

He had every right to be nervous, as his class was getting dorms today. That would mean that someone might find out what his second gender was, which he was not happy about.

In the world of super humans he lived in, he didn't think that there would be something else to it. Being a hero was his dream, making the world he lived in an absolute dream come true. Of course, quirks weren't the only thing that was special about the society he lived in. Almost everyone received their quirks at the age of four, while at the age of thirteen, you would be given the identity of your second gender.

These second genders are alpha, beta, and omega. Alphas were usually the powerhouses, being separated into "Full Alphas" and "Sub-Alphas". Full alphas are the more dominant of the two, meaning they can easily get a sub-alpha to submit, but sub-alphas can still make betas and omegas to submit. Betas still had dominance pheromones like alphas, but it was barely noticeable so it almost didn't count. This doesn't exactly mean that betas and omegas couldn't be just as strong as alphas. The other two genders had evolved to be a little stronger than what they previously were. Any gender could mate with any other gender as well, but the best pairings were normally omegas with alphas. Betas and omegas, however, were placed on a similar level of power, the world seeing them as equals. Each individual also had their own scent, but those could easily be hidden using scent blockers, which looked like square bandages that you would put on the scent gland. The green haired boy rubbed his hand near his neck, making sure the one he had on was all the way on. Then he continued to make his way towards the school.

No one had known about his second gender, other than his mother. Everyone just assumed that he was a beta, and he preferred to keep it that way. He took a deep breath before walking into the UA gates, now making his way to the dorms where his things were waiting, along with some of his classmates. He quickly checked his phone. Ok, maybe not some of his classmates were waiting, but in fact, most of them. He scrolled through the sea of messages he received from his classmates, as if they were in distress or something.

The boy sighed and put his phone back in his pocket, realizing that he was almost at his destination anyways. They were given the day off of school to get settled into the dorms, also having the weekend to get familiar due to it being Friday.

The boy walked into the dorm, getting bombarded by some of the scents of the others, along with some of his classmates. "Midoriya/Deku!" Some of his classmates yelled. He was almost tackled to the ground, but kept his balance as his friends hugged him. These friends included Uraraka, Kirishima, Asui, and Kaminari. He giggled, restraining himself from letting out his scent. Sure, he had the scent blockers, but even with them his scent was too strong. If he had released his scent freely, they wouldn't be able to mask it. He felt happy and wanted to express that, but quickly stopped giving off a goofy smile and returned to his neutral face.

"Since when do you smile like that?" A spiky haired redhead nudged Midoriya with his elbow. The taller boy looked down at the redhead with a playful smirk, rolling his eyes. Midoriya had always been seen as the short boy when he was little, being a couple inches shorter than the average boy in his class. Once middle school had rolled around, he grew a couple inches, even surpassing his childhood friend in height by the time they were out of middle school. He'd remembered that summer after he had a major growth spurt, coming back and shocking his classmates to realize that he had grown a whole three inches over the summer. Currently, he stood at a proud 174 centimeters(5'8"), a little bit taller than Yaoyorozu but still shorter than Todoroki.

"What, I can't smile like that or what?" The greenette implied while looking into the ruby red eyes of the shorter boy. He turned away, seeing that his friends let him out of their grasp, and crossed his arms playfully, "Guess I won't smile if you think it doesn't suit me." The brunette who has waited the arrival of her fellow classmate began to whine, "Nooo! Kirishima what did you do? That was literally the happiest he looked! He even giggled. Tell him sorry!" The brunette ranted onto the redhead, Midoriya smirking at their playful banter. There was a sarcastic gasp that was heard across the room. Midoriya looked in the direction of the overly dramatic gasp and found that it was none other than Ashido who had emitted the sound.

"Did I hear that right? Midoriya giggled? Please tell me someone got that on tape," the pink skinned girl exclaimed, probably loud enough for the other classes in different dorms to hear. The green haired boy restrained his laughter as the brunette responded, "Unfortunately not. I'm pretty sure it isn't going to happen again anytime soon, seeing that a certain someone had to open his big mouth." Midoriya watched as the brunette eyed the redhead. Not being able to contain his laughter anymore, he clasped his hands over his mouth, smiling widely at his classmates' childish behavior. "I'm gonna go unpack now," The greenette managed to say as he speed walked to the elevator.

Midoriya made his way to his room that was, thankfully, on the fifth floor away from most of his class. It's not that he didn't like his class, it just made hiding his second gender easier. He walked in, the smell of his scent coming from his belongings was unbelievably strong. Thankfully, you couldn't smell it from outside, so he was safe for now, as you can easily identify someone based on the type of scent they gave off. Yes, everyone has their own unique scent, but omegas would give off different scents than alphas and betas and vice-versa.

It had been about an hour, Midoriya was almost done unpacking until he heard a knock on his door. He panicked, thinking someone might try and come in his room. "Midoriya? The class was wondering if you could come to the common room. They said something about playing a game?" The deep voice said from the other side of the door. The greenette sighed in relief, knowing the voice belonged to a person who was respectful enough not to barge into someone's room. Midoriya smiled to himself, "Ok Todoroki! You can head to the common room, I'll be there in a minute!" He knew Todoroki wouldn't pry the fact that he didn't want to come out of his room just yet so he suggested to meet downstairs. There was a pause before the boy on the other side of the door mustered out a response, leaving Midoriya in his room and heading to the common room.

Midoriya sighed, knowing that it would be more than difficult to keep his second gender a mystery to his classmates. He brushed off the thought for now, realizing that he would get to spend some time with his friends once he goes downstairs. He swiftly changed into his pajamas, his top was a plain grey long sleeve, with green plaid pants and white bunny slippers. He knew the slippers were a bit childish, but couldn't refuse his mother when she had been so excited to give them to him. He didn't want to be rude and buy another pair, so he just stuck with them. They were pretty cozy so the greenette couldn't really complain.

After getting ready and grabbing his phone, Midoriya slipped out of his room and headed to the common room. Once he walked into the common room, he felt as if some people were staring. He looked around to see that, sure enough, their attention was drawn to the slippers that he wore. He decided to brush it off and ask what game the class was playing. This seemed to snap some people out of their thoughts, Ashido announcing, "Alright! Now that everyone is here, we can start the contest!" Midoriya wore a puzzled look on his face, tilting his head at the words that flowed through the pink girl's mouth seconds ago.

"What kind of contest?" The ash blond sitting in the corner spoke up, now interested in the topic of the conversation. Ashido smirked mischievously, knowing that she had gotten the boy on board with her idea, "Wellll...I thought it would be great if we would have a contest to see who has the best room." She looked around, looking to see if everyone was going to participate until her eyes landed on a certain green haired boy. "Midoriya? Are you alright? Your face looks really pale!" Ashido panicked, going up to the taller boy to try and make him feel better. The class turned to look at him, seeing that he did look rather pale.

"I can use my quirk to cool you down if you need to," Todoroki suggested, getting up to help the slightly shorter boy. Before he could move any further towards him, Midoriya spoke up, fear laced in his voice, "It's just that...don't you think that it would be an invasion of privacy, Ashido? We all have our own dorm rooms for a reason. Personally, I'm not really comfortable with people in my room and I don't think-" He was interrupted by Kaminari, "Well if it's because you're room is still messy, we won't care. Hell, my room is probably messier than yours right now." Frustrated, the green haired boy furrowed his eyebrows, burying his face in his hands. "It's not-" Midoriya cut himself off, and the class stayed quiet, waiting for him to say something but there was nothing.

"Stupid extras. Forget about the fucking contest. Let's just play a game or something," the ash blond blurted out to end the silence in the room. The class agreed, starting to form a circle to start the game. They decided to play two truths and one lie. Uraraka, who was sitting next to Iida and Tsu, decided that she wanted to go first.

"Alright, so I like the color pink, I.." She listed off the three things, but Midoriya couldn't help but space out. He was brought back to reality when the redhead next to him waved his hand in front of his face. Midoriya blinked a couple of times before looking at his classmates, "I'm sorry, what was the question?"

"Midoriya, are you seriously okay? You've been acting off ever since you got here," the heterochromatic eyed boy pointed out. All attention was on the greenette, but he still composed himself.

"Yeah, I'm alright. I'm just...thinking," Midoriya replied. He sat up straight and proceeded to pick himself off the ground, "While you guys are playing, I'll make dinner. Does gyūdon sound good?" The class watched as he walked to the kitchen, looking in the fridge for ingredients. He received no response so he looked up to see a look of shock and confusion on his classmates' faces. "What? Do you want me to make something else than?" Midoriya asked.

"It's just...you can cook?" Jirou asked, along with her classmates nodding with her response. Midoriya sighed as he looked back in the fridge, turning away from the class, "Yeah. So is gyūdon fine?" Once he made sure that everyone was fine with the dinner choice, Midoriya got to work while the rest of the class played different games. After about half an hour, Midoriya finished cooking the food. Currently, he was setting the table ready to serve the food.

Some of the class turned their attention to the boy, hearing the clanking of the bowls and cups go against each other. A certain brunette scrambled up from her sitting position on the floor, "I can help you, Deku! You shouldn't have to make dinner and set the table!" She reached the kitchen and looked up at the taller boy, who was busy serving the food and placing them on the table. He continued despite his friend's protests, his lips curving into a small smile at his friend's offer to help. "It's okay, I'm almost done anyways," Midoriya implied, his smile disappearing and his neutral face setting back in. The brunette, however, missed the smile on his face, it made her heart flutter in a good kind of way.

"Deku.." The brunette started as more people came to help with the table. The greenette hummed in response, his eyes still focused on placing the bowls of food he had served. "Why don't you smile more?" Uraraka questioned, gaining the full attention of Midoriya at this point. He looked at her with a confused face, tilting his head at the question. He noticed some of his classmates behind her, waiting for an answer as well. He set down the last bowl at the table and sighed, but stayed silent.

"You know, I've been wondering the same thing round face," the familiar ash blond walked up to the boy who was slightly taller than him. He crossed his arms, waiting for an answer from the greenette. Midoriya just looked at the ash blond and replied, "Remember when we...actually, we should eat first." He averted his gaze and focused on his classmates behind Bakugo, "You can start eating if you want. I didn't know what you wanted to drink so I just set the cups up." Some of his classmates nodded, getting the rest of the class to let them know about dinner. Bakugo, however, was not finished with their conversation. He pulled at Midoriya's shirt, pulling him slightly downwards, "We aren't-"

Bakugo stopped once smelling a scent that was faint, but noticeable. It was intoxicating, it was like a drug and Bakugo wanted more. It smelled sweet, like vanilla and strawberries. Although, it wasn't enough to pick out what his second gender was. Midoriya pushed away, still having a clam appearance but his eyes showed fear. "I'll be right back," The greenette spoke as he made his way to the bathroom.

Bakugo stood there, unable to move at that point as if he were glued to the floor. He had an expression unfamiliar to his classmates who had watched the interaction. His face showed shock, something he has never displayed before so someone decided to ask him, "Bakugo, why do you look so shocked? You're the one who started the conversation with him-" He was interrupted by a faint mumble from Bakugo. The redhead stopped in the middle of his sentence to try and make out what the ash blond said. "I didn't catch that, what did you say?" Kirishima asked the ash blond.

"His scent..." Bakugo mumbled. The rest of the class stopped their conversations, waiting to hear what else he had to say. "You smelled it? Doesn't he have a faint scent since he's...actually, what is he?" The ash blond nodded at the first question, then heard the second question, his eyebrows furrowed at it. "I...don't know. The bastard never told me cause he found out during summer," Bakugo snarled, staring at the floor where the greenette had stood seconds ago.

Uraraka stood up from eating, her face suddenly flushed red, "I'm sorry, I have to go to my room." Her classmates nodded, understanding her situation. She quickly bowed and made her way to the exit. Unfortunately, she wasn't paying much attention to her surroundings, causing her to bump into a wall. She pushed off of it, her face turning beet red at her realization that it wasn't a wall, but instead the well toned chest that belonged to her crush.
