clumsy

Summary:

Namjoon tends to lose things, but he'd never lose Seokjin.

For #SummerNamjin20

Work Text:

"Can I have a cheesecake?"

Seokjin pushes Namjoon by the chest, "Ugh, shut up" but then he pulls his boyfriend back by the lapel of his shirt and kisses him, "you used to give me your card back then"

Namjoon laughs and makes like he's pulling out his wallet from the back pocket of his jeans, a second later he freezes though.

Seokjin takes a step back, "No" he protests, "Please don't"

"I had it right here, I swear" Namjoon starts patting around his jacket pockets and everywhere else fruitlessly; his wallet is not there.

He blushes, and the apologetic look he gives Seokjin is way too adorable for him to stay angry, "Ok, let's go"

There was no other way, if Namjoon had forgotten his wallet they had to go back to find it, even if that meant losing their reservation.

Even if that meant walking back to the apartment in the evening heat.

They're supposed to be celebrating their first anniversary, an arbitrary date though because they did not pick the day of their actual first date, but that one where Seokjin shouted at him outside the coffee shop he used to work in. Back then Namjoon had forgotten his wallet as well, Seokjin would call it a coincidence if he didn't already know how clumsy his boyfriend was.

Over the time they've been together Namjoon has lost, forgotten, and broken many things.

Seokjin remembers their first date, he had been so excited and restless even hours before Namjoon picked him up; at least he had been on his day off so he hadn't ruined any orders by being fluttery.

He just liked Namjoon so much, and he'd been hoping for a date for months, it felt like a dream coming true. Though the date hadn't gone that well; Namjoon took him to see a movie and he resented that he couldn't talk to him for an hour and a half, then they went to eat something and Seokjin was happy he could finally talk to him, but they were too nervous and it ended up becoming awkward.

It was alright though, Seokjin texted Namjoon that night before he went to bed, he promised he'd have fun, he still accepted a second date.

Their second date went a bit better, Seokjin brought a picnic basket and a blanket, and sat with Namjoon in the shadow of a big tree. They ate and they talked and it was a little less awkward though they were still very nervous, Seokjin could even feel it in the prickling of the palm of his hands.

But when Seokjin texted him that night Namjoon didn't reply, a week went by and Seokjin started to worry, and then he felt sad, but then he also got angry that Namjoon had ghosted him. It wasn't until a week later, when Seokjin lost all patience and texted him a very angry paragraph calling him a coward and a loser, and a liar that he finally got an answer; apparently Namjoon wasn't trying to ghost him, but he'd lost his phone somewhere at the park they'd hung out in, and his number.

Namjoon tends to lose things, but he'd never lose Seokjin.

"Come on, if you hurry up we can still make it in time to keep our reservation" Seokjin calls after Namjoon who rushes inside his apartment the second they get there; he's gone so fast he forgot the keys, still dangling on the doorknob. Seokjin sighs, Namjoon is seriously a walking hazard.

"How are you still alive?" Seokjin yells after Namjoon as he takes the keys.

He notices that Namjoon changed his keychain from the blue koala that Seokjin gave him a few months ago, a little white animal has taken its place.

"What is this?"

Seokjin catches up with Namjoon, who's still rummaging through his stuff looking for his wallet.

"An alpaca," Namjoon barely glances at him, "It's cute, right?"

It is cute and it has a tiny red bandana around its neck, but Seokjin pouts, "I didn't know you'd gotten rid of Koya"

Namjoon drops the stained shirt he had been holding, a pause on his search to look at Seokjin with a grimace, "Oh no, I ruined it…"

"What?"

Namjoon then covers his face in shame, "It was meant to be a surprise, I was going to give it to you during our dinner", he pulls an identical set of keys with the little blue koala keychain, "These are my keys, those are yours"

"I want you to move in with me" Namjoon goes on because Seokjin hasn't said anything yet, he's looking down at the keys with a weird expression; Namjoon is almost worried.

It takes him a few minutes, but then Seokjin is throwing his arms around Namjoon's neck and kissing him. He lets his hands wander around his boyfriend's arms and the nape of his neck, then one of them goes down, down, down…

And there it is, Namjoon's wallet, inside the pocket of his jeans that he probably didn't think to check.
