Work Text:
Yoongi took in a deep breath, chocolate brown eyes softly closing with the action. The dewy air surrounding him was laden with cedar-sweet smells. He breathed in one more time and the whiff of mint wafted up to him. It was vault still and restful, the only sounds were the bumbling of bees and the heavy echo of a raven crawking. The air hummed around him, tenderly grazing his bare arms and making him shiver.
In that single peaceful moment, Yoongi felt the healing power of nature Namjoon had been telling him about. It was something he desperately needed after the stressful months he’s been through. He needed to disconnect. To spend time in nature to reacquaint himself with the towering trees, the soft grass and the mirroring lake.
Yoongi opened his eyes and was met with the celeste blue tint of the mesmerizing sky. He let out a restful sigh, the soothing warmth of the sunlight gently caressing his skin. He felt serene.
After a few more moments of enjoying the blissful harmony that was encompassing him, Yoongi stretched his limbs on the lounge chair he has been lying on for the past hour. He lazily opened back the book on his lap, continuing to read from where he left off before.
From time to time, his feline eyes would peek from the beautifully written pages to the sublime figure sitting cross legged a few meters in front of him. His straight, defined back was turned to Yoongi, but he could still see the man slowly moving his hands, taking in deep breaths of the same sap sweet air Yoongi inhaled. The man’s curly brown locks were ruffled by the light wind, messily sticking in different directions. It made Yoongi yearn to thread his long slim finger through the soft strands. A small smile took over Yoongi’s features, his chest swelling with the overwhelming feelings he held for this man.
Yoongi’s eyes fell back on the inked pages, getting absorbed in the words written on them.
He felt a warm presence nearing him not long after, but Yoongi didn’t move his eyes away from the pages. Then he felt the weight settling on the chair, next to Yoongi’s stretched legs, gently moving them to the side to make some space for himself. Yoongi observed, in his peripheral vision, how the man just sat there and stared at him, the soft and fond gaze caressing Yoongi’s skin and making him shiver just like the faint breeze.
Yoongi raised his head after a few seconds, the man’s eyes on him already making Yoongi squirm in his seat because of the intensity they held. The moment their eyes found each other, Yoongi’s heart trembled with the love he felt for the other man.
“Hi, hyung,” the man grinned, his rosy lips stretching into a boxy smile that made Yoongi’s chest soar.
“Hi, Tae,” Yoongi said, biting his lip to suppress the big smile that was fighting to take over his face. “Did you finish meditating?” he asked, closing his book to offer all of his attention to Taehyung.
Taehyung nodded, his curls moving with the action. “I gathered all the positive energy I needed,” he beamed.
Yoongi could see all that positive energy radiating from Taehyung. It was comforting and it made Yoongi want to drown in his embrace, to feel that warmth wrap around his soul and soothe any worries he had.
Taehyung was the one with the brilliant idea to come on vacation in this idyllic location. He wanted to feel the nature, to drown in this beautiful calmness.
It was also because he noticed how stressed Yoongi was these days. All the pressure from work was wearing him down and Yoongi started losing himself in this busy life.
Taehyung hated seeing him so drained. So one day, he told Yoongi that he needed to slow down.
“Sometimes we get so caught up in life that we forget that we don’t always have to be busy,” Taehyung said that day. “We need to remind ourselves that it’s okay to slow it all down.”
And although Yoongi hesitated at first, Taehyung was resolute.
Yoongi accepted that he needed a break so he suggested that he stay at home for a couple days, but Taehyung immediately protested. “You cannot heal in the same environment that made you sick, hyung,” Taehyung advised.
The younger’s conviction made Yoongi go along with him and now that he could feel this liberation that disconnecting from their everyday life brought, he didn’t want to leave. He wanted to stay here, surrounded by the fresh smell of the trees and bathing in the unabashed gaze of his lover.
“Thank you,” Yoongi suddenly spoke. Taehyung’s brows shot up in confusion and surprise, his palm falling on Yoongi’s thigh, caressing it over the thin material of his sweatpants.
“For what?” Taehyung asked, voice sweet and melodious. The heaven-leaking light fell down over Taehyung’s breath-taking features and added a golden tint to his beauty, making Yoongi lose his train of thought for a moment.
He regained his senses when he felt Taehyung’s hand gently grip the flesh on his thigh.
“For helping me heal,” Yoongi answered, looking directly into Taehyung’s eyes and sharing his gratitude through them.
Taehyung smiled at that. He leaned down and his lips pressed against Yoongi’s in a slow and loving kiss that left Yoongi breathless.
Yoongi loved this feeling with Taehyung; how his presence made him feel light and high, floating in complete calmness. Taehyung had a wild spirit, but a soft heart and such a sweet soul. The way he was so sure of himself, he never needed to make Yoongi feel unsure. Such a beautiful way a man’s foundation can let your heart call him home.
For Yoongi, Taehyung was unexpected. He truly didn’t expect the man to have this effect on him, his heart, his mind, his feelings. He was the calming sound of the forest, the pitter-patter of drizzle on a spring morning in Yoongi’s brutal, destructive hurricane lifestyle. Taehyung was his healing.
And in this moment, Yoongi just wanted to get lost in this soft, sweet, wild, burning existence of him.
Yoongi sighed, pleased to be surrounded by all these beautiful things; sunlight, goodness, nature and Taehyung.
He learned that he should never forget to enjoy the little things because they were never as little as we thought. Yoongi learned to always find something to be grateful for first thing in the morning and again right before bed. And that something happened to be Taehyung most days.
