Green tipped hair, pink eyes and cheeks.
Pink petals, green stems as far as the eye can see.
A sparkle that blinds my sight as the setting sun twinkles off straight white teeth. The red of pulled up smiling lips reflecting the horizon, as the moon lifts higher beside them.
The wind carcasses the back of my neck seconds before the warmth of fingertips replaces it’s path, rubbing soft, burning hot circles.
Goose bumps break out over my skin, pushing the hairs on my arms up and out, adrenaline surging through my blood. My heart’s beating faster, louder in my ears.
“Ah-“
A startled look passed across my face as the gasp filters through my lips. Those shining pink eyes sparkle with delight, reminiscent of the stars that appear above, their sparkle shooting toward us from millions of lightyears away.
The fire is crossing my neck to my shoulders, up behind my ears and is replaced with nails as sharp as knives. They thread through my hair, so close to cutting me wide up, exposed and revered. It’s dangerous and exhilarating.
I can still barely move or speak. My jaw’s clenched, my teeth grit and my lips quivering.
Gentle hands move back down behind my ears fingertips settle against my jaw, slowly, teasing, and the knives disguised as nails scratch softly across my twitching cheek. I inhale and feel my nostrils flare. All of a sudden the twitching stops and my mouth relaxes, in complete contrast to my heart beating faster.
Harder.
If I thought it was fast before, I’m not certain it’ll stay contained behind my ribs. The drumming is a deafening noise in the already silent valley, pumping louder and louder in my ears. My stomach knots and it’s both pleasant and awful.
Those pink cheeks darken and red lips shift from an amused mischievous tilt to anxiously bitten between sharp, stark white. The moon is higher above us now, a soft purple separated by blue and pink clouds toward a midnight sky.
Neither of us moves, I’m stuck and enamored. I’ve become a lost man- stranded in the dessert and hydration comes in the form of green tips flowing freely in the breeze.
Bewitched and turned to stoned, my hands, shaking something fierce rest uncertainly heavy on small narrow hips, and when had that happened?
My eyes catch on red, redbloodred-lips under red, redscarlettred- cheeks. Focused on cloudy darkened fuchsia eyes, half lidded under heavy looking, long mascara covered white eyelashes.
I’m captured by the small catious downturn of perfectly manicured eyebrows, to the small bunny like wrinkle of a flushed nose. Everything seems as if in perfect detail.
I can feel this becoming a memory, transforming into a dream to be replayed again and againandagain in perfect clarity for years to come.
This moment which could have lasted hours, picks back up, only to shift faster as the space between us disappears.
Those bitten lips were so. Soft.
Unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, velvet and sweet and fire. My body combusts, bursting at the seams, while flames lick their way through my veins; and something like a whine but deeper erupts from my throat as the flames reach my lungs.
