Work Text:
The sky was painted with a faint gray color, drops of rain were shared by the scenery. It was quiet in Morioh.
Surprisingly, it wasn’t humid today. The conditions of the town out of most days was gratifying, although it would be better if there was color.
Years have passed, and many memories have been shared by two people, Noriaki Kakyoin and Jotaro Kujo. From moments of laughter to devastation and sadness, they both were still together. Joseph was present, but it was irrelevant. At least the old male was safe. Jotaro did care about that. A killer was roaming free and ruining the atmosphere in the peaceful place. It was unfortunate that he has been unidentified and anonymous. Jotaro has tried several times to try to find who this person exactly was, however, he never succeeded. He worked with his family member, Josuke, along with his friend Okuyasu. There was never a day where everyone in the city wouldn’t achieve a sense of security, but today was the day one wanted to hang with another. Josuke, Rohan, Koichi, Yukako, and of course, Jotaro and Kakyoin. The floral bushes were decorated adequately while the two males walked, every unique color seemed to fit in.
Ever since Kakyoin got attacked by Dio in the past, therefore he had to bring a cane with him. The redhead was still stable and well, although some complications were bothersome. Jotaro was the one that helped Kakyoin with the little things, such as getting a small item and more. Josuke and the crew sat outside of the cafe, waiting patiently for Jotaro and his friend.
“What’s taking them so long?” Asked Josuke. He rocked his body back and forth in the chair he was sitting in, pouting after he was finished.
“Beats me, I’m sure they’ll be here soon-”
“Hello everybody,” Kakyoin said in a calm tone. He tilted his head at a small degree, greeting Josuke with a smile.
Jotaro tugged his hat, a hidden grin was introduced.
Rohan was in a corner and scoffed at the redhead. He didn’t want to think there was another person in town that liked the same things as him. Art was something that was his, and no one could own that spot but him.
“Rohan,” Kakyoin glared at the artist, an ominous manner was current for a moment before greeting Josuke and Okuyasu.
“How are you both?”
“We’re doing great!” Blasted the teen next to the other with a pompous hairstyle
“Tired, I stayed up playing games,” Josuke said as he sipped tea.
Okuyasu patted Josuke’s back in mid-action
“Woah Josuke! You could’ve gotten caught by your mom!”
Josuke coughed up the tea due to the amount of force Okuyasu slapped on him. He stared at Okuyasu, the other snickered silently.
Kakyoin chuckled. He thought it was a great friendship. Jotaro looked at Kakyoin, the smile of Jotaro’s shone brightly behind Kakyoin’s back.
“Hello, Mr.Kakyoin” A voice popped up. It was a much smaller male with grey hair.
“Greetings Koichi, how are you and Yukako?”
“We’re doing fine” Came across a female voice.
Her slender body walked and stood out beautifully, a scowl rested on her face.
“Hello to you too, Yukako.”
“Good afternoon, Kakyoin.”
—————
Everything settled down within a short amount of time. The weather was still cloudy, but nonetheless pleasant. Rohan eventually left. His only intention was to say a quick hello and leave. Koichi and Yukako stayed for a minute before leaving before saying their goodbyes, happily holding hands. They planned to watch a movie together. Okuyasu and Josuke were not the last ones to leave, but rather Kakyoin and Jotaro instead. Originally, the two boys had intended to leave before the redhead and the other male. Unfortunately, it happened because of a conversation the teens and the short male had. It was defined as triggering due to Jotaro and that one night in Egypt. Kakyoin was not taken aback by all of the questions. They were kids after all, who were curious about what happened to the redhead so long ago. After the conversation, the three spoke about different topics such as games and more.
Jotaro was the first to excuse himself out of the table. Kakyoin apologized to the two and left with Jotaro. The gloomy environment continued to surround the setting, but thankfully it stopped raining. Kakyoin was confused about what ensued in Jotaro’s mind to make him leave so suddenly. While it may be true that the black-haired male was upset about what occurred on that horrific day in Egypt, he didn’t think it would upset him. Did it? It was hard to tell. The slight humidity was bothersome to Kakyoin, although Jotaro didn’t seem phased by it. The weather seemed to be perfectly fine for him. When the two men walked close together, Jotaro coughed silently and decided to talk. He acted as if everything was normal and okay.
“That conversation was weird.”
Kakyoin looked at Jotaro. He squinted at him. The redhead was perplexed. “Didn’t he get upset a while ago?”
Kakyoin stared back into the direction the two were walking together.
“What do you mean?” Kakyoin asked.
The moment was taken by silence. Jotaro lowered his eyebrows, forming a small frown. He wasn’t looking at Kakyoin, but rather at the sidewalk.
“How come you talked to Josuke and Okuyasu about what happened to you like it was nothing?”
Kakyoin’s eyes widened for a short time. His assumption was correct.
“That’s not what they all were talking about Jotaro..”
Jotaro hummed. He thought wrong then.
“Jotaro,”
Kakyoin stopped walking and let his arm out to stop the other. Once the two were standing, the short male let go. He turned his head to meet with the taller male’s eyes.
“Are you still traumatized?”
He gazed into Kakyoin’s. He wasn’t sure himself.
“Not really, it’s just odd that you all were talking about that situation casually.”
“Well it did happen a long time ago, didn’t it?”
Jotaro shrugged it off, not wanting to speak much after that.
“Well?” The redhead raised a brow, waiting for an answer.
Jotaro exhaled. He was annoyed with this and uninterested in Kakyoin’s mood.
“Not now Kakyoin,”
Kakyoin tugged gently at Jotaro’s sleeve, looking at him seriously.
“Jotaro-”
“I said not now!” Jotaro slapped the hand that Kakyoin had, letting the grip go.
Kakyoin gasped while Jotaro proceeded to walk away. The redhead eyed at him intensively, trying to calm himself down. Stillness fell between them both after. They continued to walk, eventually going on the elevator and to the hotel room. Every door that was opened was not held by one another. The two males did it separately. Jotaro’s hands were sweaty and frigid, he regretted what he did. Kakyoin had a frown, the beating in his heart started to accelerate once they made it up to the room. He was planning to talk to Jotaro about this, whether it made him uncomfortable or not.
The sound of the hotel door clicked quietly, the existence of one another was very much felt. Kakyoin sat on the sofa, trying his best to not add the discomfort he already had in his back. Kakyoin was a strong person, that’s how he wanted people to see him. Never weak nor mess up. He was quiet, waiting until Jotaro came back from doing whatever he was doing. Once the redhead felt that Jotaro was near him, his rich yet firm tone fell in the room.
“Do you want to explain what happened?”
Jotaro raised an eyebrow, his bored expression turned into one of interest.
“What?”
“Why did you push me?”
The black-haired male froze. Although he felt horrible that he did an action like that, he thought Kakyoin would have accepted what he did with time. Even though Jotaro had changed his old ways for the better, there have been some habits where he couldn’t get rid of. While pushing one away was definitely something that was fixed, he wasn’t sure what got him. The chat between Josuke, Okuyasu, and Kakyoin was something that scared Jotaro a bit too much.
“Answer me, Jotaro.” Kakyoin’s behavior of being calm shifted into something threatening. He didn’t mean to, but the mere act of touching someone in a gentle manner then getting slapped away without a reason why was silly. It was simply child’s play at this point.
“I apologize.” Jotaro spoke dryly. He didn’t know what else to say besides getting atoned by the other.
Kakyoin let out a sigh out of frustration. He was irritated by everything.
“You can be annoying sometimes-AGH” Kakyoin stood up, not knowing until later that he wasn’t holding on to something. A small thump hit the floor. The cane stood by the furniture, untouched. No wonder why he fell.
Jotaro came running to the other, startled with the sound. He started to speak while going to him. The quietness broke quite easily. He felt like he should’ve been more near him.
“Kakyoin I’m sorry. Forgive me it’s my fault-”
“No Jotaro. It’s the same thing over and over again. You always have an issue and never bother to tell me why, plus you keep treating me as if I were a child!”
Kakyoin didn’t mean to snap back that badly, but he wanted to show a point to Jotaro that he was okay.
Jotaro hesitated for a moment. He opened his hands out to Kakyoin, his fingers bent out of confusion. He was worried about Kakyoin. The sight of seeing him on the floor was not likable in his opinion.
“I-”
Kakyoin softened the time in his eyes and face. He gently pushed the hand away from him.
“You what Jotaro? Why do you always keep acting so wordless in situations like these?”
Jotaro didn’t say anything. He felt so dumbfounded.
Kakyoin sighed. “Come down here.”
Jotaro did what he was told, sitting down formally in front of Kakyoin. The redhead did the same, straightening himself up from the floor. He held Jotaro’s hands.
“Did I upset you back there?”
Jotaro looked at the male on the floor, he stared longly into his eyes. The pretty shade of purple was something that caught his attention.
“I got nervous.”
“You should know I’m here now.” The red-haired man spoke fondly, the expression in his voice was soft and nurturing.
“I do, but it’s just. The memory is still there. I didn’t enjoy going back there. I love you Kakyoin. I understand that event happened years ago, I really do, but it’s just,”
“Everything's okay Jotaro-”
“I don’t want to lose you. I’m sorry for what I did.”
“Jotaro, I’m healed now. Sure I may have difficulties doing simple things, but I’m alive. My heart is still beating.”
“That may be true, but-”
Kakyoin hugged Jotaro, he skimmed his back.
“It’s okay. I’m not going to leave.”
“You’re here now?”
“I’m here now.”
“Do you love me?”
“Yes Jotaro, yes I do.”
Kakyoin shared a warm breath on Jotaro’s neck, giving the anxious male some ease. Jotaro held Kakyoin tight, their clothing started to become a bother in the moment. It was correct that the redhead was crippled, but the relationship between the two never faltered in the end.
——————-
On a night where things were peaceful, there was a conflict between the two. Even when the television played quietly and the smell of coffee being brewed meant that things truly were calm, there was some sort of skepticism going on. Morioh still had it’s murderer wandering about and enjoying their time uncaught. Kakyoin was the first person to notice that something was up, while Jotaro didn't. He looked out the window, admiring the view before stumbling across a person that kept staring directly at him. He blinked in suspicion. The person didn’t go away, it was only that this time he was walking somewhere. Kakyoin decided to speak out to Jotaro
“Hey Jotaro, there seems to be a person outside.”
“That seems weird. It’s late outside isn’t it?”
Kakyoin had his tongue on his teeth, he was completely captivated by this person. He didn’t listen to Jotaro
“I’m going to check it out, stay here alright?”
Jotaro put down his cup of coffee he was making and took his focus off of it.
“No Kakyoin I don’t think that’s-”
“Quiet down, I’m going to see.”
“But wait for a second, Kakyoin. Don’t go without me just wait for a little.”
Silence was present.
“Kakyoin there’s a murderer out there you’re going to get yourself killed-!”
Jotaro stormed out of where he was and went to where the other was. He dropped the cup after noticing Kakyoin wasn’t there anymore. The mug clashed into the hardwood floor, many pieces were scattered. He looked around quickly, starting to fret.
———————
What Kakyoin felt when he approached a man with blond hair scared him. Even though Dio was defeated so long ago by Jotaro, it gave him chills down his spine. Before the small male spoke to wonder who this mysterious person was, all that was given was a small yelp before disintegrating into thin air. The yellow-haired male looked at the redhead with distaste, knowing in his heart that he may have been put into jeopardy after this. He cursed under his breath, walking away to the other side casually.
———————
Jotaro kicked the door open, frantically searching outside to find the man he cared about so much. Kakyoin was the first person he took interest in. He remembered the first day when he met the redhead, Jotaro wanted to give him a second chance at life. Kakyoin gladly took it, becoming a strong person in the end. Jotaro liked how the other explained to him different customs in different places in the world. It was nice. Every moment spent with Kakyoin was nice, but, where was he now?
“Kakyoin?”
Jotaro felt like dissociating, at this point everything felt like some simulation. It had to be some dream that went wrong. The mistake of being too slow to catch up to his friend choked him up. Panic started to arise. Heavy emotions overwhelmed him. Even with his body reacting like this and on the verge of screaming, Jotaro still tried to search for Kakyoin.
“Kakyoin..?”
Nothing but gusts of wind were answered. The crisp cold hair stung his eyes, he grimaced.
After making a realization of what happened to Kakyoin, he felt numb.
He never forgave himself.
