A Hawks Nest

Summary:

Occcasionaly bird instinct would take over, and Keigo would want to do nothing but build a nest and cuddle with you in it. Especially if that cuddle time involved wing preening.

Work Text:

You couldn't help the sigh that escaped as you returned home and saw the pile of blankets in the middle of the foor, a smile twitching at your lips as Keigo walked from the bedroom, his arms full of clothing, blankets, and pillows.

Keigo froze as he saw you, his eyes wide in surprise.

"Baby bird... you're home early!" He said happily, dropping the items in his arms and striding over to you. He wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you close, nuzzling happily at your neck.

Little chirps escapes his mouth, and you giggled quiely, your hands resting against his chest.

"That time again huh?" You asked, pressing a gentle kiss to his shoulder, causing his wings to shudder.

He nodded against your neck, his nose brushing behind your ear and his hands rubbing at your back.

Every so often he got like this. His bird instincts took over and he wanted nothing more than to build a nest for you and him.

The comission had never allowed him to act on his instincts when he was younger, and had fed him hormone suppressants to stop them.

But now he was free of them, Keigo could act upon his instincts, and you encouraged it. You wanted him to be himself, and if that meant for a week every few months you slept in the living room in the nest he built, then so be it.

You untangled yourself from his arms, much to Keigos dismay, and walked over to the pile he had dropped to the floor, picking up as much as you could.

"Alright then, birdie. Let's build you a nest.' You said, sending him a smile.

The way his eyes lit up, and his wings ruffled happily made your heart skip a beat. You loved seeing him so happy.

Keigo picked up the rest of the items and carried them to the nest he wad building, and with your help, set to work placing everything.

Soon, a few of his feathers were added to the mix, and the nest grew more and more comfortable.

You noticed your favourite hoodie at the centre of the nest, and a soft smile crossed your face. He only ever put things that smelled of you in the centre, that way, he would have your scent right beside him for when you couldn't be there.

Keigo reached over and tugged on your arm, pulling you into the nest with him. You let out a small laugh at his action, causing Keigo to let out a whine, his wings ruffling again.

"Do you want me to preen your feathers for you?" You asked quietly, noticing a few of them were askew.

"Please, baby bird. That would be lovely." Keigo murmured, pulling you onto his lap and spreading his wings, giving you access to each feather.

He rested his head on your shoulder, his eyes closing and his arms wrapping around your waist as your fingers trailed through his feathers.

You hummed quietly as you set to work, your fingers trailing lightly across his wings. You straightened the feathers, brushing any lingering dust from them. You were used to this, and it was something you truly enjoyed doing.

It showed how much trust Keigo had in you, to allow himself to be so vulnerable in front of you after everything he had dealt with warmed your heart.

Your fingers drifted between the feathers, and you heard Keigo let out a happy purr before chirping in content.

His entire body was relaxed to the point that even his grasp around your waist had loosened. This only happened when he was truly relaxed and you were touching his wings.

His mind would go blank, and he would just sit there, completely content and happy.

Keigo nuzzled at your neck as you finished preening his wings. You smiled and ever so gently pushed him backwards until he lay down.

He wrapped his wings around your body, then rolled onto his side, pulling you with him and curling up slightly, pressing gentle kisses to the side of your neck.

A soft cooing escaped him as he held you close, and you sighed happily, your own eyes closing as you leaned in, enjoying the soft moment, the feeling of warmth emanating from Keigos wings slowly lulling you to sleep.

"I love you, my baby bird." Keigo mumbled tiredly, his arms tightening around you as he slowly drifted to sleep.
