Work Text:

Kim Dokja just got out from the shower. There was a towel thrown over his head as he walked to the bed with his phone in his hand.

“Dry your hair.”

A voice interrupted his scrolling. Kim Dokja looked up and was greeted by his lovely husband scowling at him from the bed.

Kim Dokja smiled at the sight of him. Yoo Joonghyeok had taken a shower before him, so he was already in his pajamas. He had a pair of thin-framed glasses resting low on his nose bridge and a laptop set out in front of him. He was probably setting up a schedule for his next week at work, something he usually did on Thursday nights.

Kim Dokja pulled up the calendar on his phone. Who would’ve thought—today was Thursday.

“Are you working?” He asked even though he knew that he was.

“Mn.”

“Are you almost done?” Kim Dokja walked to Yoo Joonghyeok’s side of the bed and sat on the floor.

“Why?” Yoo Joonghyeok looked down at his husband, who had a stupid smile on his face.

“So you can dry my hair for me.”

Yoo Joonghyeok sighed. As much as he acted like he hated doing these sort of things for Kim Dokja, he secretly enjoyed being asked to do such simple things for him.

“Give me five more minutes.”

Kim Dokja nodded his head and just watched Yoo Joonghyeok as he typed away. Yoo Joonghyeok had graduated from being a gamer and was now the head of a popular international gaming company. Kim Dokja insisted on getting a job as someone who would help come up with new game plots because of his expansive imagination, but Yoo Joonghyeok refused. He stated that he was enough to provide for the two of them, so Kim Dokja was able to just stay home and rest.

Kim Dokja never really did get to rest though. He spent two out of five weekdays with Yoo Joonghyeok at his work and the other three days he spent taking care of his four kids: Lee Gilyoung, Shin Yoosung, Biyoo, and Lee Jihye. The weekends were for him and Yoo Joonghyeok to relax together, sometimes with company.

Yoo Joonghyeok shut his laptop and took off his glasses then placed them on the nightstand beside his bed.

“Aw,” Kim Dokja sighed, upset. “You look handsome with your glasses on.”

This caused Yoo Joonghyeok to sigh as well but, besides that, he ignored Kim Dokja’s comment. He turned so that his legs were hanging off the bed and pulled Kim Dokja closer to him. Kim Dokja smiled and rested his back on Yoo Joonghyeok’s legs as he started rubbing the towel all over his hair.

“Are you busy tomorrow?” Kim Dokja asked from below him.

“Why? Is there something you want to do?”

Kim Dokja shook his head. “I just want to spend the day with you.”

Kim Dokja spent almost everyday with Yoo Joonghyeok, but it still never felt like enough. He wanted to spend one day holding his hand, one day hugging him, one day planting kisses all over his face, one day feeding him, one day playing with his hair, one day admiring how handsome he was, one day telling him stories that he had probably told him hundreds of times before, and one day thanking whatever higher beings out there for blessing him with such a perfect husband.

He wanted to hold him in his arms while being held by him. He wanted to look him in his eyes and tell him how grateful he was for him. He wanted to make him happy.

Yoo Joonghyeok stopped rubbing his head and spoke, tearing Kim Dokja away from his thoughts.

“I don’t have to go to work tomorrow.”

Kim Dokja smiled at the fact that Yoo Joonghyeok was willing to take the day off to spend it with him, but he declined.

“It’s okay. I don’t want you to fall behind.”

“I won’t fall behind.” Yoo Joonghyeok scoffed as he started drying Kim Dokja’s hair again. “I’m already three weeks ahead.”

Kim Dokja let out a hearty laugh and squeezed himself closer to Yoo Joonghyeok so he could rest his head on his leg. Yoo Joonghyeok pulled the towel back so he could plant a kiss on Kim Dokja’s head.

Kim Dokja looked up at him. “So you’ll spend the day with me?”

Yoo Joonghyeok nodded and he got up to hang the now wet towel in the bathroom. He walked back to Kim Dokja, who was still sitting on the ground, and bent down to pick him up. Kim Dokja giggled in his arms and Yoo Joonghyeok sat down on the bed and laid Kim Dokja down beside him.

A small smile tugged at Kim Dokja’s lips as he looked up at his lover. Yoo Joonghyeok was pushing Kim Dokja’s hair out of his face and then he quickly planted another kiss on his forehead. Kim Dokja giggled again and rolled on top of Yoo Joonghyeok, who was now under him. He held his face in his hands and beamed down at him. Yoo Joonghyeok’s usual nonchalant expression brightened, as his lips were slightly being pulled upwards. Kim Dokja noticed this and pecked at the corner of his lips, causing Yoo Joonghyeok to belt out a laugh.

If people could actually have heart eyes, Kim Dokja was sure he’d have them right about now.

“I love you.” Kim Dokja blurted out, then tilted his head and planted a kiss on Yoo Joonghyeok’s lips. He really felt like he could tell him those three words constantly for the rest of his life and it still wouldn’t be nearly enough to truly express his feelings.

Instead of replying, Yoo Joonghyeok held Kim Dokja’s head in his hands and kissed him back. It was supposed to be a short peck, but Kim Dokja practically melted into it, and who would Yoo Joonghyeok be to refuse him.

Yoo Joonghyeok prodded at Kim Dokja’s bottom lip with his tongue as if to ask for access, which Kim Dokja allowed. Kim Dokja’s hands started roaming and stopped at the buttons on Yoo Joonghyeok’s shirt. He was able to undo two buttons before Yoo Joonghyeok’s hands wandered down to the back of Kim Dokja’s thighs and lifted him up so that they were both seated. Suddenly, there was a loud thump that startled Kim Dokja.

Yoo Joonghyeok gasped and his hands shot to hold the back of his head that fell into Kim Dokja’s chest.

“Oh no.” Kim Dokja laughed and wrapped his arms around Yoo Joonghyeok. “Did you hit yourself?!”

Yoo Joonghyeok groaned in response. Kim Dokja kissed the back of his head, which had grown a small bump after hitting the headboard of the bed. Kim Dokja laughed as he tried his best to ease the pain by kissing the bump better, but that didn’t help get rid of the pain at all and only resulted in making Yoo Joonghyeok flustered.

“Should I get you an ice pack?” Kim Dokja suggested, but Yoo Joonghyeok refused. He removed one hand from his head and used it to wrap around Kim Dokja’s waist in order to bring him closer. Kim Dokja giggled as he wrapped his arms around his husband.

“Let’s just stay like this for the night.” Kim Dokja told Yoo Joonghyeok.

“Kim Dokja.” The man spoke from where he was against Kim Dokja’s chest. “My head is throbbing.”

Kim Dokja bursted into laughter. Yoo Joonghyeok sighed, annoyed, and pushed Kim Dokja off of him then turned so that his back was facing him.

“Wait, no!” Kim Dokja tried to ease his laughter. “I’m sorry! Look at me?”

Yoo Joonghyeok peeked over his shoulder and saw his lover looking at him with puppy dog eyes. He sighed and gave in. He was soon laying face-to-face with Kim Dokja.

“Can I tell you a secret?” Kim Dokja teased as he twiddled with one of Yoo Joonghyeok’s hands.

“What?”

“I think I have a crush on you.”

Yoo Joonghyeok scoffed and pulled Kim Dokja into his arms.

“Can I tell you a secret?”

“Hm?”

Yoo Joonghyeok brought his mouth close to Kim Dokja’s ear and whispered: “I think I’m in love with you.”

Kim Dokja felt like he was walking directly into the sun. He was filled to the brim with warmth and his cheeks were tinged red. He buried his face in Yoo Joonghyeok’s shirt and felt him laughing against him.

“Let me see you.” He said. Kim Dokja shook his head and tried to dig himself even farther into Yoo Joonghyeok’s chest.

“Dokja-ya. Look at me.”

Dokja-ya. Kim Dokja’s weakness was Yoo Joonghyeok calling him that. After years and years of having called him ‘Dokja-ssi’ or ‘Kim Dokja’ or even just ‘Oi’, Yoo Joonghyeok only ever called him ‘Dokja-ya’ when he was being tender and loving.

Sometimes, if he really wanted Kim Dokja to lose it, he would even go as far as…

“Jagiya~.”

“Noooo.”

Kim Dokja whined from where he was squished in Yoo Joonghyeok’s arms. He was trying to hide himself as much as he could without breaking away from him. Yoo Joonghyeok’s chest was bobbing up and down in laughter. He moved his hands so that they rested on either side of Kim Dokja’s head, and pulled him into one last forehead kiss.

“Good night.” He said, his eyes filled with absolute love and affection as he looked at his husband. “I love you.”

Kim Dokja flushed and rested his head into Yoo Joonghyeok’s hand.

“I love you too.”

Yoo Joonghyeok placed one last kiss (yes, this time it really was the last one for the night) on Kim Dokja’s head before pulling him close into his chest.

Soon, only the sound of their steady breathing could be heard in the room. The two stayed wrapped in each other’s arms until the warmth of the morning sun poured into the room—similar, but not identical, to the warmth they were filled with when they were together.
