Work Text:

Silent.

A simple word to describe the current atmosphere in the UA dorms. Usually, Friday afternoons were no where near as peaceful as they are now, instead they’re filled with the yells and cheers from classmates or the powerful explosions from a certain someone.

Not today though – or at least, not at the moment. While their classmates were off training and most likely getting scolded by Mr. Aizawa, (Y/N) laid propped up against their bed’s headboard, blanket wrapped warmly around them, trapping the heat within.

This morning they woke up feeling a little nauseous, a sniffle and headache accommodating it. An agreement was made that it would be best for (Y/N) to stay back and rest for the fastest possible recovery. Their boyfriend, Bakugou, didn’t 100 percent like the idea of leaving his lover alone, though he soon just went along with it, begrudgingly at that.

It had been 5 minutes since boredom struck them and another 2 before they reached their limits. Yes, the quietness of it all was nice but without their friends there was a lack of entertainment for them. So, instead of wasting away doing nothing, (Y/N) made the decision to grab a book they’d been meaning to read for a while, cracking it open and starting to read.

Time ticked by quickly, the novel’s astonishing plot making it hard to put the book down, but easy to ignore one’s surroundings, and it wasn’t long before Class 1-A returned back from school.

“Man!” Mina stretches, the slight sound of her joints popping echoing in the room, similar noises coming from many others as well. “Mr. Aizawa sure went hard on us with today’s training, I’m gonna be sore for days!” Kaminari, who was walking along with her, nodded in agreement, a loud and tired sigh escaping past his lips as he flopped stomach first onto the common room couch.

“Quit whining raccoon eyes!” The pink skinned girl jumped, not expecting to hear the familiar angered growl of her ash blond friend. Bakugou pushes passed his classmates, heading straight for the elevator on the girl’s side of the dorm. All day he’d been worried, though he would give no hint to it, wanting nothing more than to be by his lover’s side. It may have been a simple cold but the blond just wanted to help get them back on their feet.

Mere steps away from the metal elevator doors, one of his friends whispered something teasingly, not intending for him to hear.

“He’s off to play prince charming. I swear he’ll get on his hands and knees just for (Y/N)…”

Yet he did. And just like that, a fuse was lit within Katsuki Bakugou.

“I WOULD NOT! WHAT THE HELL, COME HERE YOU!!”

Up in the sick teen’s room, their eyes continued scanning the book, moving from word to word without falter.

Boom

“GET BACK HERE DUNCE FACE!!!” the explosion boy shouted, seeming to rattle the very walls and foundation of the dorms. (Y/N) stopped reading for a moment, eyes trained on the last word they read.

“Hm,” they say, not looking up “That didn’t sound good.”

For a second (Y/N) debated putting the book aside and venturing down the stairs to calm their boyfriend and keep him from destroying their living space.

Then again… that would require getting up, and (Y/N) was ordered to stay in bed.

“He’s their problem…” they smirked, plugging in headphones to drown out the promised screams of death and cries of mercy, returning back to the book.

(Y/N) would save their friends, no doubt about that… it would just have to wait until the end of the chapter.

Which was another 20 pages…

And it just so happens that (Y/N) was a slow reader…

Oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
