Work Text:
“Woah.”
Jimin smiles as he watches Taehyung drop onto the king-size bed.
“This is even prettier than in the pictures,” he says happily and takes a look around the suite they’re going to inhabit for the upcoming eleven days. It’s bright. The walls are kept a simple white, in contrast to the bright blue sheets dressing the bed and the accentuated blue decorations. Vases are placed on the desk and the dresser across the bed, paintings held in blue and cream colors are hung up on the walls and singular specks of orange and red are strayed here and there.
Jimin opens the glass door leading to the balcony from which he can already smell the sea. He sees it crashing against the cliff that closes the beach to the right side, just for it to stretch out further on the other. Jimin stretches his arms above his head, he feels a breeze tickle his stomach where his shirt rides up slightly.
He’s a bit exhausted from the journey here. At the same time, he’s curious to explore the hotel and the surrounding town. He’s itching to go see the sea and dig his toes into the sand of the beach.
He’s tired, but it’s nothing compared to the excitement he feels bubbling up in his stomach.
“You gotta come over here, Chim,” Taehyung beckons him, “This is probably the most comfortable bed I have ever laid on!”
“That’s what you say about every hotel bed,” Jimin laughs but joins his boyfriend eventually. A contented sigh escapes his throat as his back hits the covers. It really is the most comfortable bed he can imagine.
As soon as he’s in reach, Taehyung wraps his arms around him and grins at him.
“Not true! The bed in L.A. was a big no-no.”
“Ugh,” Jimin shudders, “my back hurts just from thinking about it.”
Taehyung nods. His hand cupping Jimin’s face, caressing his cheek with his thumb. Gaze soft and lips stretched into a gentle smile that Jimin can’t help but mirror. He feels the familiar pull, feels his body aching to be closer, even when he’s already enveloped in Taehyung’s arms.
It’s like he can’t ever be close enough.
So he inches closer, until there’s no space left between them, and tilts his head back, so he can keep looking at Taehyung. He reaches out and lays a hand on Taehyung’s neck, pulling him closer. Jimin’s thumb brushes over the small crescent moon tattooed just below Taehyung’s ear, causing a shiver to run through both of them.
“Love you,” he whispers against his soulmate’s lips. Smiles when he feels their lips brush. Jimin loves this, loves the intimacy of it.
Loves it all the more when he feels Taehyung’s reply on his lips, too.
“Love you the most.”
And Jimin doesn’t argue against it like he used to. Let’s Taehyung say it, just as Taehyung had started letting Jimin say it as well.
They’re comfortable enough, sure enough of themselves and their love, to know that it’s equal in the most beautiful way.
After a not so short nap, thanks to jet lag and exhaustion taking over in the end, they get ready to explore the town. It’s already late evening when they freshen up and leave the hotel. The long flight still sits heavy in their bones and they’re aware they won’t be able to see much during the few hours that are left of the day.
Which is fine. They have more than enough time to do that on another day.
For now, they’re content with walking through the tight alleyways of Positano, hands held loosely and swinging between them. They’re cheerful. The streets are colorful. And it smells mouthwateringly good everywhere they pass by.
“I’m starving,” Taehyung whines after they’d walked past the sixth restaurant and Jimin’s glad he’s bringing it up, because he, as well, could need some food. The last thing they’ve eaten was a sandwich on their stop in Istanbul.
The next restaurant they find is where they decide to have their dinner.
Not much later, they clink their wine glasses, the most delicious looking pizza on the table between them.
“To us,” Taehyung offers and Jimin agrees. He repeats the toast and throws the brightest smile at Taehyung before he reaches for the first slice of the pizza.
“Oh my god,” Jimin moans. He’s only ever imagined the taste of real Italian pizza. But now, reality hits him. “Best fucking pizza of my life,” he champs before taking another bite. Ignores the amused face Taehyung gives him. When his boyfriend lets out similar noises after having a bite he swallows the laughter that threatens to escape him in favor of getting more food in.
It’s only when they are finished and their stomachs are full that they speak up again.
“Beautiful,” Taehyung mumbles, gaze wavering across the street, where, between a yellow and a blue house front, the sun sets above the sea and paints the sky in shades of orange and pink.
“It is,” Jimin agrees. His eyes stay on the view for a while, before they sway back to Taehyung. He’s on his third wine and on top of the jet lag dizziness he now feels a little tipsy. “Taehyungie?” he whines softly, grabbing Taehyung's wrist.
Taehyung hums as he turns to him.
“Let’s go back to the hotel?”
His boyfriend nods with a gentle smile, gets up - a little more composed than Jimin most likely would have been able to - and takes his hand. Giggling and excited for the days to come, they stumble back.
As soon as his back hits the mattress, Jimin already drifts off and dives into dreams full of ease and happiness.
As curious as they are for the city and its surroundings, on their first day after arrival, jet-lag and the remains of stressful workdays still weighs down on them.
Hence, over breakfast, they decide to take it easy, relax a little at the beach. Let the sun shine down on them and bathe in the pleasantly cool water of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
They’re over the moon when the concierge tells them that there’s a part of the beach specifically for guests of their hotel, including a beach bar. He wishes them a nice day as they skip out of the lobby.
As soon as their toes dig into the white sand of the beach, a deep sigh falls from Jimin’s lips. It’s been so long since he’s been to the sea. Even back in Korea, he hasn’t been able to visit his hometown in a while and as much as he loves Seoul, he often misses the wide beaches and rough sea of Busan.
Next to him, Taehyung is grinning widely. He looks almost as if he was vibrating, as though he’s holding himself together with all his might not to run across the beach screaming in joy like a child. For now, Jimin lets him keep his composure, but later, he’ll drag him into the water, allowing them to let out the children inside them, knowing well that his boyfriend won’t be able to hold back anymore by then. And it’s okay. They’re on vacation, in a country they haven’t been to before, in a beautiful town with a stunning view. They’re allowed to be happy. For now, they can be carefree and childish.
The sun burns on their skin if they don’t move for too long, it’s hot and usually, Jimin would think it’s too much, too hot. But on the beach, with cool water just a few meters away, waiting for him to dive in and float around, it’s beyond pleasant.
It’s exactly what he needed after the stress of everyday life back home. What he needed after finally finishing the huge deal that’s been sucking every bit of energy out of him. He lets out a sigh and throws his head back to let the sun shine down on him. A shiver runs through his arm and down his spine, making him open his eyes and glance at the spot the shock originated from. Jimin smiles when he sees Taehyung pressing a soft kiss on his wrist - just above the small sun.
“It’s glowing,” Taehyung whispers against his skin. And he’s right, Jimin notices. The tattoo has a soft glow to it as if it wanted to fill with more color. He places a finger on Taehyung’s chin and gently nudges, gesturing for his boyfriend to turn his head. And there, he sees. The moon glowing softly as if it’s trying to be a real moon.
“They haven’t done that before, did they?” Jimin asks. He can’t recall any occasion.
“Mine did. The day we met. I remember getting really surprised when I saw myself in the mirror,” Taehyung says. “It was different, though. A little softer than now… I think? I’m not sure.”
Jimin is confused, but he doesn’t give it too much mind. They’re close and content and only focusing on each other, it probably has to do with that.
But then again, they’ve been on multiple vacations, just the two of them and their tattoo’s never glowed.
Jimin decides to not give it too much thought. If it’s something of importance, they’ll figure it out eventually. So instead of racking his brain in the scorching heat, he pulls his soulmate close and presses his lips against his for a deep kiss, filled with all the love and joy he feels at this moment.
“I’ll get us some drinks,” Taehyung announces and Jimin hums sleepily. It wasn’t too hot under the sunshade that they’d been able to save themselves after an elderly couple had left the beach, and he’d thought it would be a nice opportunity for a nap. Taehyung’s voice pulls him out of his slumber just enough to mumble, “Sex on the beach, please.”
He registers a low chuckle and wakes up fully as Taehyung leans over him and whispers into his ear.
“There are too many people around for that, but maybe later?”
Jimin squeaks and while sitting up he looks around to check if there’s anyone near enough to overhear them but luckily there isn’t. Doesn’t save him from blushing deeply, though.
Taehyung laughs and gets some distance between them as Jimin hushes him and tries to hit his boyfriend weakly. “Don’t worry, babe. One sex on the beach, got you!”
While waiting for him to come back, Jimin drifts off once more, but it doesn’t last long, because when Taehyung approaches their beach chairs again, he’s the one screeching.
“What the fuck are you being so loud for?” Jimin whines, his hands thrown up to cover his ears dramatically.
“The bartender!!! Jimin, oh my god, babe, he’s so cute! Can we adopt him, please? Pretty please?” Taehyung begs and Jimin sits up, turns and stretches his head to look over to the beach bar, although he can’t see it from where he sits.
“Are you sure you’re talking about a guy and not a puppy, Taetae?” he laughs and accepts the cocktail Taehyung hands him. After taking a sip, he sighs content. It’s really good.
“Very positive! As positive as I’ve ever been!”
“Okay, calm down, babybear. Might get jealous,” Jimin jokes, but Taehyung is quick to reach for his knee, pressing it reassuringly.
“You know you’re the love of my life, baby, but I swear if you see him you’ll know what I mean! Maybe you should go get the next drinks.”
Jimin agrees, even if only to see who’s gotten his boyfriend so hyped. He’s not really jealous, he knows their relationship is strong, and he’s not new to Taehyung’s ability to develop crushes in the shortest time. They’re not deep, Taehyung just likes to appreciate the beauty of people and if anything, that’s one of the things that Jimin loves so much about his boyfriend.
He doesn’t get to go to the bar to get them new drinks, though. Because barely half an hour later, there’s a young man walking towards them. He’s got fluffy black hair, only half visible under the white cap he’s wearing that casts a shadow on his feline eyes. The man’s in jeans and a black t-shirt with the logo of the hotel. The shirt looks a little too big on him and Jimin feels bad because that must be really warm.
“Hey,” the guy says and Jimin feels Taehyung slapping his arm a few times. He’s quick to catch on when after they’ve returned his greetings, the man asks if they maybe want another drink. “The bar isn’t busy, so I figured I could go around and ask. Saves you the way,” the man says and Jimin notices how deep his voice is. “Usually we have waiters, but I think one of them is sick and the other one is needed inside today. Anyways, can I get you anything?”
Jimin tries hard to hold back the coo that’s building up inside him as he listens to the man. He’s cute. When he looks to his right, he catches Taehyung grinning at the man and he can’t help but do so as well.
“Oh, sure,” he decides to reply before any awkward silence can form. “I’m Jimin, by the way! And this is my boyfriend Taehyung! Uhm, I think, I’d like - Are you okay?”
The bartender’s lips had formed a surprised ‘o’ and at the question, he shakes his head shortly. “Yeah, yeah, I am, thank you! It’s just, that’s Korean names, right?”
“Oh yeah, we’re from Seoul,” Taehyung explains, “We’re here for vacation. O- obviously… Don’t mind me, I’m talking nonsense.”
“Never would’ve guessed,” the man laughs and Jimin thinks it’s a nice sound. He maybe wants to hear more of it. “That you’re on vacation, I mean. My name’s Yoongi. I’m from Daegu, lived there until I moved here three years ago,” he says, now comfortably switching to Korean. Jimin doesn’t know why but he suddenly feels at home. Next to him, Taehyung bounces from where he’s sitting on the beach chair, “Oh! I’m from Daegu, too! And Jiminie is from Busan! We moved to Seoul and met there a few years ago, found out we’re soulmates and have been inseparable ever since!”
Yoongi smiles. “Okay, uh, I think I should get back to Hoseok soon. My coworker, he’s Korean too, by the way! So, yeah, your orders?”
“Mmh… a tequila sunrise for me, please. Tae?”
“Me too!”
Yoongi nods and turns, promising they’ll receive their order in no time. Before he’s out of earshot though, Jimin speaks up again. A certain, indescribable, yet familiar pull making him say what’s on his mind.
“You think we could talk some more later? When you’re free? And if you want, of course,” Jimin asks, smiling widely. Yoongi seems a bit taken aback by that but he grins and agrees, “Oh sure, of course! It’s nice meeting someone from home. If you want, we could talk more, I guess. Later, or… Whenever really.”
“You’re cute,” laughs Taehyung and Jimin joins in when he sees Yoongi blushing deep red.
“I’ll just… go get your drinks,” Yoongi says, shoulders straightened.
As soon as he’s out of sight, Taehyung collapses against Jimin. “Did I promise too much?” he sighs dreamily. Jimin chuckles as he wraps his arm around Taehyung’s shoulder and kisses his head.
“No, you didn’t, angel.”
When Yoongi brings them their cocktails, he’s gone as soon as their hands get a hold of the glasses. He apologizes, saying it’s busy at the bar now. The beach has filled in the past minutes, Jimin’s noticed that already. It’s a bit after 4 pm, meaning the sun’s not as scorching anymore. That and the fact that it’s a time at which most people come back from their shopping tours or trips and it’s the perfect time to be at the sea between a nap and dinner, makes other hotel guests fill the beach.
It’s a bit sad that they can’t talk more to Yoongi now, but they’ll find some time for that.
They don’t go back to the beach for the next three days. They’re busy exploring the town and all the little corners and secrets it has to offer. The need for being closer to the sea is a constant in Jimin’s chest and he’s not sure what exactly causes it in this intensity. For now, he decides to ignore it for the sake of their plans. They’ll go back there soon again and he’ll be able to dig his toes in the sand and run into the waves.
Maybe not only that's what's pulling him in, but he stops the thought there.
On Sunday, they find a cute little café that they spend a whole afternoon at, basking in the atmosphere and sipping on coffee out of fancy little cups. Taehyung looks happy talking to the elderly owner serving them. They talk about the area and the man gives him tips for trips to go on as long as they’re here. At some point, the man’s wife comes up to them and joins the conversation. Taehyung and Jimin find out the couple are soulmates as well. The woman tells them it hasn’t been that long since they’ve found each other. Only five years ago, they had crossed paths and the other’s presence in their respective lives had improved them in an instant and together they had fulfilled their dream of this little café.
When they leave in the evening it feels like they have grandparents in this place so far away from home now. The couple had been so accepting and welcoming, didn’t bother the fact that they’re two men in love, but instead were very heartwarming and lovely.
The next day, they just saunter about. They find joy in the tiny alleys of Positano, the familiarity the people here seem to have with each other. It’s a small town, so everyone seems to know the others. Obviously, a lot of tourists are on the streets as well, but it’s easy to tell them apart from the people who live here. Everyone they talk to is kind and helpful, always up for some recommendations of places to visit.
The boutiques and small shops are inviting and the sellers bright and lively.
Jimin buys some souvenirs for their families and friends back home, while Taehyung finds a liking to the light articles of clothing offered and the variety of hats in one of the boutiques.
They come back to their hotel room packed with full bags and the slight worry of how to fit all this in their suitcases on the way back home, but their hearts are full of joy.
On vacation, away from home is where they’ve always felt the lightest. Their home is comfortable and they love to be there as well, but it comes with the heavy weight of responsibilities, and every now and then, they like to escape for a while.
They couldn't have asked for better weather. It’s sunny and warm, just around the border of too hot, but not yet crossing it. At night, the countless stars seem to shine brighter. Everything is so perfect that Jimin thinks maybe all of this is just a dream and he’ll wake up eventually to the alarm that wakes him up in time for work. But that doesn’t happen and instead, every day is better than the last.
Taehyung is happy like a little boy when they visit the small art galleries scattered across town. The café’s owners had told them to stop by when Taehyung had talked about his passion for arts, they’d given them recommendations for the newest exhibits and ones that were a constant in Positano’s culture. All the galleries are really tiny and barely fit more than a few people at the same time, so sometimes they have to wait a bit to go in, but it’s worth it. Seeing this expression on his boyfriend’s face makes anything worth it for Jimin. Everything’s so pretty, and Jimin feels slightly overwhelmed by this place’s beauty in the evening.
After walking all day, they end the day in their hotel room.
Jimin’s pushed on the bed after an intense make-out session in the bathtub of the adjacent bathroom. They’ve had some wine, sunk into the hot water and waited for the exhaustion to wash away. And it did, when Taehyung leaned over and started to kiss Jimin’s neck, hands traveling underneath the water. Not long and Jimin had found his way onto Taehyung’s lap, kissing him deeply with intent, rocking his hips against Taehyung’s. If possible, he’d wanted him to fuck him right then and there, but Jimin wasn’t prepped, so once they were panting and growing eager, Taehyung had pulled Jimin up and towards the bed, naked and wet, not a care in the world.
There they are now, Jimin underneath the love of his life, moaning and gasping for air as it gets knocked out of him with every sharp thrust of Taehyung’s hips. Their chests are pressed together and Taehyung swallows each one of Jimin’s moans, kissing him hungrily, feeling up his body.
Jimin holds him close, wants to feel him everywhere, wants to taste him and hear each of the noises he makes.
He moves to meet Taehyung’s thrusts and when he clenches around him teasingly, Taehyung lets out the most feral moan. It’s music to Jimin’s ears and the sound goes right to his cock, intensifying the need for some friction.
His hand goes down, caressing along Taehyung’s side until it dips underneath him and closes around Jimin’s cock. He gives it a few strokes and knows it won’t take him much longer. Taehyung’s hard thrusts hit his sweet spot and his back arches, pressing him right up to him. All his senses are flooded with Taehyung. He feels him, hears him, smells him, he’s all he sees and all he wants.
Taehyung’s mouth goes to Jimin’s shoulder, leaving a breathless kiss on the collarbone before he buries his head in the crook of Jimin’s neck.
With every pump Jimin gives to his length, he clenches more around Taehyung’s cock, making his soulmate whine and moan and eventually bite into Jimin’s shoulder roughly. The pain of it mixed with all those other sensations is what pushes Jimin over the edge. He spills between them, making a mess on both their stomachs. While coming, he pulls Taehyung even closer, until there’s no space left between them, riding out his orgasm with the friction his cock gets rubbing between their bodies.
Taehyung follows shortly after him. Moans once again muffled between kisses.
A whine escapes Jimin’s lips when Taehyung pulls out of him and gets up to get a towel from the bathroom. He lies dead tired, limbs following Taehyung’s nudges on autopilot as his boyfriend cleans him up.
He opens his arms for Taehyung to fall into once he’s discarded the towel somewhere on the floor to be taken care of tomorrow and the latter does exactly that.
Yawning, he shuffles closer to Jimin, sweetly pecking his cheek before whispering already half asleep, “Love you, Minnie.”
Jimin smiles sleepily and before he can even reply, he’s already fallen asleep.
Eventually, they head to the beach again. After having been active the past days, they think they deserve some time doing nothing under the sun.
Before they look for a place to settle, they stop by at the bar. In unspoken hopes of seeing a certain bartender. Even though neither of them is vocal about it, neither of them would deny.
Back when they started getting to know each other, Taehyung had told Jimin that he was polyamorous. Jimin hadn’t known what it meant at the time, but Taehyung took the time to sit down with him and explain to his new-found soulmate. At first, Jimin was a bit thrown off, insecure and worried that he might not be enough for the man he was meant to spend his life with, but with time, he understood it wasn’t like that.
Taehyung had a habit of developing crushes easily and Jimin realized that he was okay with it. Nothing happened out of their relationship, everything was communicated between them, and if Taehyung wanted to get closer to someone he liked, he made sure to include Jimin and be as open as possible. At one point Jimin had found himself liking a boy Taehyung introduced to him as well and he freaked out, terrified at the thought of falling out of love with his soulmate. Taehyung had noticed and sat down with him, talked him through it and at the end of it, Jimin knew that he couldn’t be more in love with Taehyung.
They’d talked and thought it through and Jimin realized that maybe, he was polyamorous as well.
The guy they’ve liked left before anything could get serious because he wasn’t okay with being with them, as they were soulmates - and no matter how much they tried to assure him that it didn’t mean he was being left out and they had enough love inside them to include him - he left. It was okay, they got through it together and eventually moved on.
After this, nothing serious had happened. They had some summer flirts, even brought some home with them, but it never went further than a few nights spent together.
Jimin is curious how far they could take things with Yoongi.
He’s very handsome, both Taehyung and he agree on this, plus he’s funny and he lives far away from where they do, so it could be a little fun and then they’d part ways.
Like always.
“Hello there.” Jimin hears from next to him. He’s leaned against the counter of the bar, and right in front of him is Yoongi. “What can I get you?”
They both name the first cocktails that come to their minds - a Mojito for Jimin and a Swimming Pool for Taehyung- and while Yoongi turns around to gather the needed ingredients, they keep conversation.
“Oh, that’s a really nice place, I like to go there when I get a day off and can gather the energy to leave my bed,” Yoongi tells them when they mention the café they were at the day before. “The owners are a lovely old couple, you probably met them, right?” he continues and Taehyung nods.
“They were very welcoming, I barely felt like I’m not from around here, they treated us like we’ve been regulars for years.”
Jimin smiles at the memory of the lady telling them to come back whenever they’d like, she’d make sure she’d have the blueberry muffins ready that Taehyung liked so much.
“They are like that.” Yoongi’s voice is low and barely audible with the sound of the blender overpowering it, but Jimin still caught it. “They tried to unofficially adopt me when I had just moved here, despite me being twenty-five already,” he chuckles.
Jimin can imagine that. The couple seemed like the type to take in a lost boy who’d just moved to another country. He smiles and takes the glass Yoongi’s holding out for him.
Before he can grasp it, it falls onto the counter, the glass bursting and the contents spilling. He doesn’t take too much notice of it, though, because he’s too focused on the sharp pain in his wrist.
He can’t believe it.
But when he looks down at his wrist, he finds the sun tattooed there with color.
Before he can further think of anything, Taehyung had cradled his hand in his and inspects the change. The sun’s not only outlined with a bright orange anymore, it’s full of a vibrant yellow.
“Yoongi,” Taehyung mumbles, questions over questions written in his eyes.
Only then does Jimin look up and he sees Yoongi with an expression that’s beyond shocked. In his hands, he holds up his left foot.
“Can- Can I see?” Jimin asks quietly.
Yoongi just stares back for a second, before he pulls out his phone from his jeans pocket. He types down a few sentences at rapid speed, then puts down the phone.
“Oh fuck,” Yoongi breathes. He gets out from behind the bar, walking slowly, carefully, and when he’s in front of them, with no bar counter in between them, he rotates his foot, so they can see the inner side of his ankle. There, they find a set of three small stars, outlined in a pretty yellow, almost the same shade as the one Jimin’s sun had just filled in with.
It’s only an outline. Just like Jimin’s sun had been before.
Just like Taehyung’s moon is still.
“You,” Jimin whispers, looking between his boyfriend and Yoongi, “I think you two should touch.”
“What?” Yoongi’s face is painted with the same nuance of shock as before. Jimin guesses it’s normal, remembers Taehyung and him the same way when they had first found out they were each other’s soulmate.
“Taehyung is my soulmate. But… apparently, so are you? And my tattoo is fully colored, while it’s been only outlined before. Like yours now. And Taehyung’s. Maybe,” Jimin says, trying hard to make sense of any of this, “maybe it’s because I’ve touched both of you. Maybe yours will fill out too once you’ve touched!”
“I’ve never heard of something like this,” Yoongi mumbles.
“Me neither,” Taehyung says and Jimin shakes his head. He hasn’t either.
Never has he come across more soulmates that included more than two people. But it makes sense, he thinks. When he thinks back to Taehyung and his’ talks about a possible third party in their relationship. Maybe they were waiting for Yoongi without realizing it. They were fine as two, didn’t necessarily search for an addition, they just went with it whenever there was an opportunity. Maybe Yoongi really is meant to be with them.
“Hey, Yoongs! What’s up? I came as quick as I could,” someone says from behind Jimin. He turns around and his eyes meet a brunet man around Taehyung’s height. He’s talking in Korean, so he’s probably the coworker Yoongi had talked about a few days ago.
“Hey Hoseok…,” Yoongi begins. His voice clearly affected by the current events. “I’m sorry, but can you maybe cover up for me? Just for a bit, I just… I need a moment.”
The man - Hoseok - glances at Taehyung and Jimin, then back to Yoongi, his brows furrowed in confusion. “Of course. But are you okay? Did something happen?”
“I don’t know. Yeah. I’ll explain later, okay?” Yoongi takes a step towards them, lays a hand on Hoseok’s shoulder. If to calm Hoseok’s worries or his own, Jimin doesn’t know. “Thank you, I owe you!”
Hoseok nods. “Take care, see you later,” he says and pulls Yoongi into a quick, but tight, hug.
“Let’s go somewhere calmer,” Yoongi says and walks past the couple. Jimin catches Taehyung’s eyes and sees how nervous he is. His own heart is pounding hard in his chest. He holds out his hand for Taehyung to take and together they follow Yoongi.
They walk for a few minutes until they arrive at a small round spot where two alleys cross. In the middle of the crossing, there’s a small fountain that’s surrounded by benches. Yoongi sits on one of them and gestures to them to do the same.
Once they’re all sat, Yoongi speaks up, quietly, almost hesitant.
“This is not how I imagined it.”
Jimin swallows. Maybe Yoongi doesn’t want this. He tries to prepare himself for a rejection. “How did you imagine it?”
“I don’t know… Less complicated?” Yoongi sighs. “You live in Korea, I live here. You know each other already, while I don’t know you, neither do you know anything about me.”
“Jimin and I didn’t know each other either, when we first found out about us being soulmates,” Taehyung says, “That’s something we had to get on to later. Something we can catch up on.”
“Right. We could figure it out, if you want,” Jimin agrees.
Yoongi looks up, looks right into Jimin’s eyes for a few seconds. Seconds that feel like they’re melting Jimin. He’s nervous, scared that Yoongi won’t want them. It’s dumb, he doesn’t even know the man, but there’s something about him that makes Jimin want to know him. Something that pulls him in. Some would say it’s the bond, and maybe it is. Jimin doesn’t know. He just knows that Yoongi might be good for them.
He’s still holding onto Taehyung’s hand and when Yoongi’s gaze wavers to Taehyung’s eyes, Jimin feels the hold on him tighten.
“What if I don’t?”
Jimin pulls his lower lip between his teeth. They’ll be fine. He knows that. They have each other.
“Then we’ll respect that and leave you alone,” Taehyung replies. He sounds calm, but Jimin’s hand gets squeezed harder.
Yoongi nods and a shy smile spreads on his lips. “Thank you.” He then takes a deep breath and looks down at his fumbling hands. When Jimin looks closely, he notices a slight tremble. “I think I want to,” he whispers. Carefully, he looks up. “Won’t hurt to try, right?”
Jimin nods quickly and smiles back, the hand wrapped around his relaxes. When he sees Taehyung’s relieved grin, Jimin’s chest feels full. Full of the love he knows. Full of the excitement to discover a new one.
“Let’s - Uhm. Should we...?” Yoongi says, eyes cast on Taehyung. Slowly, he extends a hand that Taehyung stares at for a few seconds, before he reaches out as well. Jimin watches how their hands connect, how they both shake a little, how the moon on Taehyung’s neck fills out with a bright, whitish-yellow, while Yoongi’s stars are colored in a more vibrant yellow, how both of them gasp at the same time.
Yoongi and Taehyung stare at each other, breathless, still holding each other’s hand.
It feels like the right thing to do when Jimin lays his own hand on top of theirs and squeezes them gently.
He smiles.
It feels right.
Taehyung shakes when Jimin looks at him. He tries to hide it, but Jimin knows him better.
“Nervous?” he asks as he sits on the bed next to him. Taehyung nibbles on his lower lip, then nods.
“Incredibly.”
Jimin smiles empathetically. He’d lie if he said he wasn’t nervous as well.
“He’s our soulmate, Jimin. He belongs with us and he’s not immediately scared off by us being a couple already. I don’t wanna fuck this up,” Taehyung explains. “I don’t want him to feel like he has to catch up on anything or like he’s standing out in any way. I want to get to know him the way I want him to know about us. Together and individually. I want him to see me for me, see you for you and see us for us. To see the three of us for what we could be.”
His fingers dance and draw patterns on Jimin’s thigh as he speaks. He’s scared but he sounds calm. Taehyung is sure of himself, knows who he is and that’s something Jimin has always admired. Even in times of doubt and worries, he still knows who he is and where he belongs. Jimin tends to lose himself more.
“I’m sure we could make it work.”
“What about the distance? If he likes us and we feel comfortable about everything… What are we gonna do about this?” Jimin wonders. It’s something that has occupied his mind during the night when he was processing the happenings of the day.
“Long-distance is hard but I’ve heard of soulmates who managed to keep it up…” Taehyung mumbles. “I’ve thought about it as well. We always have each other, but what if he feels lonely here?”
“Right,” Jimin sighs.
“We’ll have to see. Let’s not plan a future that Yoongi hasn’t agreed on yet.” Taehyung has a soft smile on his lips as he says this. Though nervous, he wants to give Yoongi a chance to back out if he wants. Jimin takes the hand on top of his thigh into his own and gives it a comforting squeeze.
Yoongi awaits them where the sidewalk borders the beach and they have the prettiest view of the sunny, blue sky above the sea. It’s just about to slowly start setting towards the horizon when they get there. Jimin can’t help but think about how stunning Yoongi looks as he stands there, back rested against the rock wall of a house. How soft his cheeks look and how kissable his lips seem.
If Yoongi looks like that underneath the sun, Jimin really wants to know what he looks like under the moon and the stars.
“Hey there,” Yoongi greets them once they’re close enough. He smiles, his eyes cast down slightly. Hands clenched and pressed to his sides. They’re not the only ones who are nervous, it seems. Jimin returns the smile and gets a bit closer.
“Hi! Nice to see you again! We were really excited about tonight.”
When Yoongi blushes, Jimin thinks it’s one of the cutest things he’s ever seen.
“So where are you taking us tonight?” Taehyung asks. Yoongi doesn’t reply, though. He just grins mischievously.
Jimin and Taehyung find themselves on a boat twenty minutes later. Yoongi’s driving and if anything Jimin’s the one blushing now. He tries not to think about how attractive it is that he can drive a boat. Taehyung sits next to him on the small deck and kisses Jimin’s cheek with a smack. “He’s so hot,” his boyfriend whines. Jimin laughs but then agrees. “He is… Did you see his hands? I’m -”
He gets interrupted by another playful kiss - on his lips this time.
“Don’t make me horny now, babe,” Taehyung whispers quietly.
Jimin chuckles. “Not my fault you’re still a hormonal teenager in your mid-twenties.”
His boyfriend pokes out his tongue at him.
“As if you’re any better. The date hasn’t even started and you’re already fantasizing about his hands. Don’t pretend, baby, I know you better than that.”
“Oh shut up!” Jimin whines and falls into Taehyung’s side. His boyfriend opens his arms and pulls him in a little more, holds him tight and kisses his temple as they both look at the peaceful sea in front of them.
“We’re almost there,” Yoongi says as they approach him after a while. Taehyung had felt bad that he’s all alone while they’re cuddling on deck, so Jimin had dragged him up and towards the captain of the night.
Taehyung places a hand on Yoongi’s shoulder, making the older blush slightly.
“And where exactly is ‘there’? And are you gonna tell us now why you asked us to bring some clothes and all?”
“Yeah,” Jimin laughs, “just admit that you’re kidnapping us.”
Yoongi chuckles nervously. His hands clasp tighter around the ship’s wheel until his knuckles turn white.
“It’s okay if you say no, we can go back later, no problem at all! But I thought…” he halts and Jimin smiles endeared. He nods, asking Yoongi to go on.
“Maybe, you know since you won’t be here for that long, I thought… Hobi, my coworker, you’ve met him, he has a beach house on Capri. A really pretty island. He gave me the keys for the weekend, told me to take some time to get to know my soulmates. Covers my shifts until the day after tomorrow, so if you want? We could stay. If not, we can just eat, enjoy a few hours here and go back.”
Taehyung turns to Jimin, eyes almost glassy. Jimin’s smile widens and before he can think about anything, he’s already wrapped around Yoongi, Taehyung joining in and wrapping around him. It lasts only a few seconds before Jimin pulls back, looking at Yoongi carefully. “Was that okay?”
Yoongi grins. “More than okay, actually,” he mumbles before pulling both of them back in. “I take that as a yes?” The words are almost inaudible as Yoongi’s face is squished against Taehyung’s shoulder.
“Of course, cutie,” Taehyung smiles into the embrace.
“We’d love to!”
“Alright, here we are,” Yoongi announces as he turns the key around in the lock. He pushes the door open, gets in and holds it for them to step in. Jimin walks in after Taehyung, holding onto his hand, backpack thrown over his shoulder.
Yoongi closes the door behind them and starts showing them around. The house is small but pretty. It’s comfortable and bright. Cream-colored walls and light furnishing. The living room has a glass front facing the beach, which currently is painted by vibrant oranges and yellows, a glass door leading to the terrace that ends with stairs going down to end in the sand. There’s a staircase leading a gallery that seems to be used as the bedroom. A fireplace in front of the two sofas invites for comfy winter nights. The adjoining kitchen is closed from the living room only by the kitchen island. Jimin imagines sitting on the sofa, cuddling with Yoongi as Taehyung whirls around the kitchen island, the smell of his kimchi jjigae filling the room. The bathroom is as bright as the rest of the house, a big bathtub sitting in the corner.
It’s homey and inviting and Jimin likes it a lot. Just as Taehyung does, judging by his wide eyes and huge square smile.
Jimin drops his backpack in a corner of the living room and twirls around in the space of the living room. If the hotel room had been a dream already, this was heaven. And spending time here with not one but both his soulmates is a dream come true that he didn’t know he even had.
He startles when arms around him stop him in his motion, but when he recognizes it as Taehyung’s embrace, he falls into it easily.
“Yoongi hyung, come over here,” Taehyung giggles, and as soon as Yoongi’s in reach, he’s pulled into the hug and twirled around with them. After a few minutes, they’re all a laughing, breathless pile on top of the sofa and while Jimin’s catching his breath, he wonders if this is okay with Yoongi. If they’re moving too fast. But then again, he invited them for a whole weekend on their first date, a bit hugging won’t be too much then, right?
He’s proved correctly when Yoongi extends his hand and strokes his cheek gently. His other hand is buried in Taehyung’s hair, ruffling it playfully.
Yoongi looks at them, gaze going back and forth between them until he exhales slowly and ends it in a smile. “You’re too cute. How will I deal with this?” he breathes while lightly pinching Jimin’s cheek. It makes the latter smile and blush like a tomato but Jimin also feels his heart flutter in his chest and Taehyung presses a kiss to his stomach from where he lays on it. If Jimin could name a perfect moment in his life, it might even be this one. Though it’s nothing big, nothing spectacular, it’s everything he needs.
The next thing Jimin knows is that it smells fantastic.
The lights are dimmed and thanks to that he’s able to comfortably open his eyes. He finds Taehyung still lying on his stomach, fast asleep. Unlike before, the space next to him is empty, the hand playing with his hair gone.
Now the smell of grilled meat and spicy seasoning fills the air and gives away where Yoongi would most likely be.
Jimin is once more grateful for the open kitchen when he stretches his neck and, as expected, sees Yoongi over there, cutting vegetables on the board in front of him. He decides not to say anything, to keep watching for a while instead. Yoongi looks really attractive when he cooks. He enjoys the sight of flexed muscles on his arms when he’s cutting or goes to stir in the pot on the stove.
Jimin takes in the melodies he hums while doing so and decides he really likes the focused expression on his face. Except for the noises of Yoongi working the kitchen tools and the subtle whirring of the ceiling fan, it’s quiet in the house.
Jimin looks down from time to time to check if Taehyung’s still sleeping. He looks peaceful and calm. He hopes his boyfriend is dreaming something sweet right now, hopes that even in his sleep he feels happy.
Like this, he dozes off again. He doesn’t get deep enough to dream, still hears the soft melodies falling from Yoongi’s lips, still feels the weight of Taehyung’s head on his stomach. Jimin feels safe and comfortable - like there’s nothing that could make him any more content; because right now he already has everything he wants.
He feels light, like he’s walking on clouds.
Jimin wakes up again to a hand carefully scratching the top of his head. He leans into the touch, wants more of it, but it pulls away too soon. When he whines and looks up to accentuate his pout with puppy eyes, he meets Yoongi’s gentle eyes.
“I made us dinner. Wanna get up?” Yoongi says quietly, as to not pull Jimin out of his slumber too quickly. Jimin nods and when he tries to get up, he notices the weight on him is gone. A look to the left tells him why. Taehyung sits next to him. He must’ve only just woken up as well, judging by the wrinkles on his puffy face and how he keeps rubbing his eyes. Like on autopilot, Jimin falls into Taehyung’s space. It’s habitual. It’s them.
“Yes, hyung, thank you,” Jimin mumbles. He presses a kiss to Taehyung’s cheek, then pushes himself up from the couch. Still sleepy, he’s a little wobbly on his legs. He sways and Yoongi catches his hand, stabilizing him with ease. But even when Jimin stands, Yoongi doesn’t let go of him. Jimin doesn’t mind, just turns his face and grins. He takes Taehyung’s hand and pulls him up to join them. It’s a bit harder, as his boyfriend seems to have no energy just yet, but eventually, they all sit down at the dining table at the corner of the living room closer to the kitchen.
Yoongi had already prepared everything before he woke them up, so all that’s left now is to dig in.
It smells just as good as it did when Jimin observed Yoongi preparing and it looks even better. On the table, there’s stir-fried pork and rice and lots of side dishes. Jimin wonders how Yoongi managed to prepare this much when it can’t have been that long that they’ve been sleeping. He also thinks about all the ingredients he must’ve taken care of before. Yoongi had mentioned that he went here before to prepare everything and make sure the house had everything they needed, but with the trip here and back and the preparations, it seems like a lot of work.
“Thank you so much for the meal, hyung,” he says between two mouthfuls of pork, “This tastes amazing! You should’ve woken me up earlier, though. I could’ve helped you cook!”
“You’re welcome! Oh, and thank you too. Don’t worry about it, it wasn’t too much work and you looked like you needed sleep. I wanted to do this for you, it’s all good.”
“Next time we’ll help you! Or better, next time we’ll treat hyung!” Taehyung exclaims determined before shoving another bite into his mouth to happily chew on it.
It’s raining in the evening, so they decide to spend the night inside. Yoongi wanted to take them out, but maybe they’d be able to do that tomorrow. Jimin and Taehyung tell him that even if they didn’t, it’s still going to be okay. They’re here for him after all. Whatever they end up doing will be great, because they’ll do it with their soulmate.
Like this, they end up huddled together on the couch again. Jimin and Taehyung are usually touchy with each other, but apparently Yoongi doesn’t mind that at all. Initiates a lot of skinship himself by now. As shy as he once seemed, hesitant hugs and stolen glances, now he reaches over himself to take Taehyung’s arm and wrap it around him, while holding Jimin’s hand on his lap. While doing so, he’s beet red and glowing, but he looks happy. It’s a bit chilly, but unfortunately not enough to use the fireplace. Instead, Yoongi had brought a huge woolen blanket and spread it over the three of them.
Quietly, music plays in the background. Jimin doesn’t know the songs, but they sound melodic and nice. He thinks he might recognize some of them from Yoongi’s humming earlier that day.
They don’t do much more than that. Cuddled together, they talk in calm voices.
“I don’t really know,” Yoongi tells them, “I just packed a suitcase, called my parents on the way to the airport. I was thinking of going abroad for a while, but at some point, everything looked so grey, so boring and unadventurous… I had to leave. Hoseok had been living here back then already and he offered me a place to stay would I decide to come here. He helped me get the job at the hotel, actually. I have my own place now, but I couldn’t have done it without him.” He’s playing with Jimin’s fingers as he talks. “I was thinking of going back home soon. I wasn’t sure when exactly, but I felt like I should.” A chuckle. “Maybe it was because I had to find you? But then I procrastinated too much, so you had to come find me.”
“And we did,” Taehyung whispers. He looks at Yoongi fondly. Jimin knows he gets Yoongi’s flight reflex. Taehyung himself was always getting restless when he was stuck in one place for too long. Until now he never talked about wanting to move abroad, but if he couldn’t fly out for a vacation or at least a weekend trip in too long he’d always get itchy to get away.
Yoongi smiles. “You did. What about you two?”
“Mmh…” Taehyung thinks for a second. “It’s not really spectacular, really. I had just moved to Seoul and my friend Jungkook dragged me to a party in my first week of college.”
Jimin watches as Taehyung talks animatedly. It might not be a story out of a fairytale, nothing out of the ordinary, but he knew how much he loved to tell it anyways.
“So there was this… fallen angel. Because honestly, no human could look like that!”
At this, Jimin proceeds to hide his face on Yoongi's shoulder. Even after all those years his boyfriend still managed to make him flustered.
“And Jungkook pulled me right to him and I was like… freaking out? Only on the inside, of course, because I can keep my shit together.”
“Whatever makes you sleep at night, babe,” Jimin chuckles into the fabric of Yoongi’s shirt.
“Don’t interrupt my story, Park Jimin! Anyways, as I said, I can keep my shit together, so I was completely calm while facing the most beautiful human being I had ever laid eyes on.”
Yoongi giggles at the whine Jimin releases, but he keeps looking at Taehyung intently, seemingly invested in the storytelling.
“You can imagine the emergency alert in my brain when I found out that said fallen angel apparently is my friend’s best friend and he explains we’ll spend lots of time together because we’re his best friends so we should be friends as well! I was about to faint. Anyways, we found ourselves a booth to sit and I excused myself to the toilet because I needed to… breathe.”
“While he was gone I yelled at Jungkook for keeping his god of a friend from me for so long,” Jimin throws in, his free hand reaching for Taehyung’s. They hold each other’s hand on top of Yoongi’s lap, next to Jimin and Yoongi’s clasped hands.
After leaving a peck on Jimin’s wrist, Taehyung continues, “In the bathroom, I noticed that my tattoo was weirdly glowing. I had never noticed it doing that before and I was confused. I had never heard of glowing tattoos either, but I decided to ignore it for the night and check again the next day. It never came to that, of course.” He grins. “When I came back to the booth, we fell into easy conversation. Jimin had gotten us some drinks and as our only connection was college - which we didn’t wanna talk about while at a party - and Jungkook, we exchanged stories of things we had done with him. It was funny and at some point, I made a joke about Jungkook’s classmates that he had whined about before and Jimin high fived me for it once he was done choking.”
“That’s when we found out we’re soulmates,” Jimin hums. “We were inseparable a bit later. Which might be on Jungkook too, since he was very eager for us to get close. Impatient little bunny.”
Taehyung chuckles. “You’ll have to meet him when you’re in Seoul, hyung!”
After turning his head towards Taehyung, Yoongi nods quickly. “Of course I wanna meet him! He sounds nice!”
“He’s the best,” Jimin agrees. “After you two, obviously.”
“Sap,” comes from Taehyung teasingly. Jimin only shrugs. For them, he’d gladly be the biggest sap.
“That’s beautiful,” Yoongi says, voice a little dreamy. “Sounds like… you? If that makes sense.”
“Us?” Jimin tilts his head, to be able to look at Yoongi.
The latter hums. “Yeah. Uncomplicated, funny. Effortless and easy. Just you. From what I can tell so far.”
Jimin swallows down the butterflies, squeezes Taehyung’s hand and finds his gaze that seems to reflect the same fondness that Jimin feels himself. He leans back into Yoongi and finds Taehyung doing the same.
They stay like that for a while, until Taehyung is about to fall asleep on them.
“You can have the bed, I can take the sofa. I don’t really mind,” Yoongi says while picking up some of the empty glasses to bring them to the kitchen. When he comes back, he hands them a bottle of water.
“What?” he asks when he finds both of them pouting.
“Really? The bed looks big enough for all of us. Wanna cuddle,” Taehyung whines sleepily. With one hand he holds onto Jimin’s arm. Yoongi searches for Jimin’s eyes. Taehyung is sleepy, he’d say things like that. But when Jimin looks at him the same way Taehyung does, Yoongi bites his lip.
“Are you sure?”
Taehyung nods vehemently. “Absolutely!”
Jimin mirrors the action, albeit a bit softer. “Come with us, Yoongi hyung. You don’t have to be alone anymore.”
That seems to do the trick because Yoongi doesn’t hesitate any longer. He ushers them upstairs.
Once they’re all settled, once they’re all tangled limbs, soft breaths and sleepy, soft words, Yoongi whispers, “I’m so happy you found me.”
They fall asleep like that. The next morning they all swear they’ve never slept better.
After having breakfast, that they’ve prepared together, they get ready and leave the house. Jimin and Taehyung had begged Yoongi to show them around on the island and who was he to say no? He told them about the Piazetta, and the Via Tragara, about the Blue Grotto and the lighthouse. They want to see everything, but sadly the day only has so many hours. Taehyung decides he wants to go on a walk and see as much as they can. So, as soon as they packed some water bottles and sandwiches into a backpack that Yoongi slings onto his back, they set off.
Jimin trots a few steps behind Taehyung and Yoongi. He takes in the views the island has to offer. It’s a sunny day without any clouds up in the vibrant, blue sky and the air is buzzing with this certain summer feeling. His chest feels light and his steps are bouncy. Everything feels right. Going on a walk with two people who are meant to be with him, two people that - even if he only met one of them a few days ago - mean the world to him. Two people he’d do anything for. The two talk animatedly in front of him, he catches only some words but it’s enough to know they’re talking about Daegu and their favorite spots. Jimin wonders if maybe they had crossed paths as kids before. Maybe, if things had gone differently, Taehyung might have found Yoongi before meeting him. He thinks about the differences it would make.
It doesn’t really matter. It’s good the way it happened in the end.
That way they’re here today, on a path between two beautiful and huge gardens, surrounded by colorful flowers and underneath a breathtakingly pretty sky.
They’re here today. Together.
Jimin catches up to the other two, throws an arm around Taehyung’s shoulder and bumps into Yoongi playfully.
“Can we stop by an ice cream parlor later?”
“No, no. Go sit!” Taehyung shouts and proceeds to push Yoongi out of the kitchen. Even with Yoongi leaning back into the push, it doesn’t seem to cost Taehyung too much strength. When he’s past the kitchen island, Yoongi gives up with a huff and swings himself on one of the bar stools.
“Okay, I’ll sit. But I’ll sit where I can see you properly.”
Jimin turns away from the men to hide his blush. He’s cutting spring onions and garlic while Taehyung prepares the kimchi Yoongi had fortunately brought.
“No good household without a good kimchi supply,” he said when he whipped out the jar. “No matter where in the world.”
Every now and then Jimin glances up from his cutting board and whenever he does, Yoongi looks at either him or Taehyung. Never does he seem distracted or bored. His full attention is on them. Butterflies go wild in his stomach as he catches Yoongi’s infatuated smile towards Taehyung. He wants to have this on a daily basis. Wants to be with both Taehyung and Yoongi as much as he can. His hands keep itching for theirs and his ears tingle when one of them speaks. Heart skipping a beat when they look at him like they do. Because they see him.
There’s no point in rejecting the knowledge he has anymore. He’s deep in love with Taehyung and now - now he’s falling hard for Yoongi.
Jimin puts down the knife and circles the island. He feels Yoongi’s eyes on him, so he meets them and keeps their gaze until he’s in front of the stool Yoongi’s sitting on. Like this, Jimin has to look up slightly to face Yoongi.
“What’s -,” Yoongi starts, but Jimin talks faster.
“Can I kiss you?”
Next to them, he hears cutlery hitting the countertop. Taehyung’s attention is on them for sure. Jimin feels a bit bad for going at it first, but the need is so much, he needs to ask, needs to feel Yoongi’s soft-looking lips on his, needs to be as close as he can be.
“Mmh?” Yoongi asks with a dumbstruck expression on his face.
Jimin lays a hand on Yoongi’s thigh, takes another step until his hips lean against Yoongi’s knees.
“I want to kiss you. Can I, please?” he whispers, watching Yoongi intently.
And all he needs to close the distance is the tiny nod Yoongi gives him.
Jimin’s chest is on fire. His unoccupied hand finds its way into Yoongi’s hair to pull him closer while he leans forward. The moment their lips meet, Jimin lets out a deep sigh he didn’t even realize he had kept in. He barely registers Yoongi’s arms around his neck, too caught up in the taste of his lips. It feels right when Jimin slides his lips against Yoongi’s to deepen the kiss and it feels good when Yoongi pulls at his hair slightly. Jimin leans in closer, squeezes his thigh and when Yoongi lets the smallest gasp slip, Jimin’s tongue enters his mouth.
Yoongi kisses back just as desperately, deepens it further. According to the way he kisses he must have wanted this for a while as well.
By the time they break the kiss, both of them are breathless. Jimin’s lips feel tingly and he thinks he might be floating.
“That was hot,” Taehyung breathes. He’s leaned on the countertop, the forgotten utensils next to where his hands rest. Jimin grins at his boyfriend and grins sheepishly.
“Sorry, babe. I couldn’t wait anymore.”
Taehyung shakes his head. “It’s fine, Jiminie. I get it.” He smiles.
“Come over here,” Yoongi whines, grabby hands reaching for Taehyung. The latter gives him a curious expression and slowly walks over. When he reaches where the two are, Yoongi grabs him and pulls him in. A hand on Taehyung’s cheek, the other one on his hip, Yoongi slides down the barstool and stands on his tiptoes to kiss Taehyung. He pulls away to whisper with his voice slightly roughed up, “Wanna kiss you too. Wanted to kiss you both,” before clashing their mouths together again. It’s needy and touchy, their hands roaming over one another’s chests and backs while their lips slide against the other’s.
Yoongi falls into Taehyung when the latter pulls back, let’s himself be embraced and a grabby hand pulls in Jimin as well, making Yoongi end up sandwiched between the two boyfriends.
A giggle breaks from Yoongi’s throat. “I've wanted to do that since I first saw you. Even before touching you, I wanted to kiss you so bad,” he mumbles. “I still can’t believe this is real.”
Jimin grins. “Should’ve heard Taehyung gushing over the cute as fuck bartender when he came back from the bar to our beach chairs. I think it’s mutual, baby.”
What is heard next is a mixture of Taehyung protesting and pretending he didn’t sound like he’s fallen in love at first sight and Yoongi spluttering over the use of the pet name which results in Jimin falling over laughing, making the three of them stumble and having to break the embrace to stabilize themselves.
“Alright, you casanovas. What about dinner?” Yoongi reminds them, cheeks glowing red, hair messy.
He’s so beautiful like this, Jimin thinks. He can’t wait to see Yoongi in all kinds of states. Sleepy, clingy, hungry, moody, annoyed, amazed, passionate. Jimin wants all of it. He wants all of Yoongi.
Taehyung is already back at the stove, about to turn it on, when Jimin shakes out of it. He goes back around the kitchen island and stops next to Taehyung, meets him for a kiss, something full of familiarity, but also excitement for the new to come. A kiss that’s more teeth than lips because they both smile so wide into it.
Yoongi is in the bathroom washing up while Jimin cleans up the kitchen. While he’s puzzling their glasses into the dishwasher, arms wrap around him from behind. Jimin straightens up and turns around to face Taehyung. His boyfriend smiles at him gently, bringing a hand to Jimin’s face, cupping the cheek.
“Are we going to ask him?”
“On the first date already?” Jimin jokes, but Taehyung nods seriously.
“I want to. But if you don’t, we don’t have to, Jimin. We can wait. I just… I don’t want to lose time when we’re only here for another few days and we don’t know when we can see him again. It might have only been a week since we met him but he feels so right for us. I think he really belongs with us, Jiminie.”
Taehyung’s eyes are wide and he’s pouting, and he’s so adorable, Jimin wants to kiss the pout away.
So he does exactly that.
“Let’s do it.”
“Really?”
“Really. I want to be with him, too. So bad, Taetae. You two are everything I want and I know it’s not been that long, but he’s so sweet and lovely. Also,” Jimin says while hugging Taehyung close, “you asked me to be your boyfriend after four days.”
“Right,” Taehyung laughs, “We’ll do it then?”
“Yes!”
Taehyung leans forward and starts kissing every spot of Jimin’s face and neck he can reach, until Jimin’s a giggling mess, smiling brightly at his soulmate.
The moon is high up on the sky when they’re out on a beach stroll. Yoongi is in the middle of them, holding onto both their hands. It’s almost like it’s never been different. Like they’ve always been like this.
Yoongi talks about the first time he’s been walking this route three years ago. He’d been spending a weekend off with Hoseok and was feeling homesick. At night, he’d go out for a walk, until at some point he found himself in the place he’s bringing them to right now.
“It’s really pretty, I’m sure you’ll like it!”
“Oh no, Taetae! He found out we have a weakness for pretty things!” Jimin whines dramatically, making his boyfriend chuckle.
“Not hard to figure out,” Yoongi retorts easily, “I mean look at your soulmates.”
Taehyung cackles. “Confident! I like!”
“And it’s true!” Jimin agrees.
A little later they arrive at what seems like the end of the beach. Or at least an interruption in it in the form of a huge cliff. They stand in front of a crevice, making an entrance to what might be a cave. Yoongi stands in front of it and waves them inside as if he was holding open a door.
“Come in, come in. You won’t regret it,” he promises.
Jimin scoffs, “If we don’t die that is.”
“We’d die together, though. That’s kinda romantic.”
“Taehyung’s right,” Yoongi grins. “Come on now. I’ve been here dozens of times and nothing’s ever happened, we’ll be fine!”
They head inside and once they’d entered, Yoongi catches up to the front again. He’s walking ahead of them, guides them along the dark path, enlightened by the flashlight he’s brought with him.
It takes another few minutes, but eventually Yoongi halts and they find themselves inside a small grotto, at the shore of a small lake.
When he looks around, Jimin sees the opening on the ceiling that allows sight of the night sky. As Yoongi switches off the flashlight, Jimin notices the moon’s soft glow reflecting in the lake. The millions of stars somehow seem to look even prettier from here. The water is calm and smells of salt. It’s a bit chilly inside the grotto, but it's also breathtakingly beautiful.
“I don’t know how many people know about this place,” Yoongi says quietly. “I found this coincidentally, showed it to Hoseok who didn’t know about it before. Never met anyone here. There’s a bigger and pretty famous grotto on the other side of the island, the Blue Grotto, but… I’ve been there and this here just speaks to me more.”
“It’s incredible,” Taehyung breathes.
Yoongi reaches for his backpack and unclasps the straps holding the picnic blanket to the bag. Now Jimin understands what Yoongi brought this for. He spreads it on the ground in safe distance from the water and lays down on it.
“Come lay down with me, let's watch the stars for a bit.”
Jimin gets down and next to Yoongi and not long after, Taehyung joins as well.
It turns out not one of them has any idea about star constellations, so instead, they try to make out any shapes or figures. It’s fun and at some point, Taehyung finds a constellation that looks like the stars on Yoongi’s ankle. They decide to do some research in the next days and find out if it actually is some constellation and what meanings that might have.
"Thank you for showing us this," Jimin murmurs. His hand searches for Yoongi's on the blanket and once he finds it, he holds it tight. "I have no words for how perfect this moment is. How much this means to me."
Yoongi turns and in the darkness, Jimin can barely make out his face, only some parts of it highlighted by the reflected moonlight.
"My pleasure, Jiminie," he says with a smile. "I've always wanted to share this place with someone important to me. I didn't think it'd be my soulmate, let alone soulmates."
He leans in and presses a peck to Jimin's nose.
"I'm happy it's you two."
"We're the happiest," Taehyung says as he shuffles over to hug Yoongi from behind. Yoongi leans back into it and sighs.
"You're leaving soon," he whines. "What am I gonna do then?"
Jimin boops his nose, with some difficulties due to the lighting.
"You'll be fine. We'll text and call as often as possible. I'll make the group chat as soon as we're back! And we can come to visit you on our next vacation and you can come to visit us whenever you're free."
He ruffles Yoongi's hair and the latter chuckles, seemingly relieved. Jimin wonders if he worried about them seeing this as only a summer fling. How silly, he's literally their soulmate.
"We'll make this work, Yoongi. And if you ever decide to go through with your thought of moving back to Korea, we'll gladly await your arrival!" Jimin promises.
"Exactly," Taehyung agrees quietly. "And on those terms, we want to ask you something, Yoongi."
Yoongi stretches his neck to try and look at Taehyung. Jimin takes the opportunity to bury his face in the crook of his neck. His heart is beating like crazy in his chest.
“What is it?” Yoongi asks.
Taehyung smiles as he extends his hand to cup Yoongi’s cheek gently.
“You’re so cute. And pretty. And as you already noticed, we like pretty things. We also like funny and smart. We adore shy, but also the sass that I know you’re capable of. We adore you.”
Yoongi’s frozen in their embrace, waiting for the rest.
“And we want to be with you. Long-distance or not, no matter the difficulties that might come upon us. We want to call you ours, and we want you to call us yours. And if that’s what you want too… Do you want to be our boyfriend?”
A shaky “What” falls from Yoongi’s lips before he surges forward to catch Taehyung’s lips in a quick kiss. His hand squeezes Jimin’s tightly as he brings out, “Yes. Oh my god, yes, please.”
Jimin sits up and brings Yoongi up with him. He waves at Taehyung to follow them and once they’re all sitting, he leans into Yoongi’s space, demanding to get a kiss as well.
“Boyfriend,” he whispers when they pull apart. Yoongi grins brightly at him.
“Boyfriends,” he agrees, looking back at Jimin, then Taehyung. He hugs them and squeals a little, making the other two laugh heartily.
They stay like that for a while, leaning into each other and holding tight, before they lie down again and look up at the sky, filled with millions of stars and the brightest, prettiest moon taking its place up there, following up after a day that was enlightened by the warmest sunrays.
In the morning, they refuse to get out of bed. They only have so much time on the clock and they want to use it to the fullest before they have to part ways for the time being. So, they stay underneath the blankets, exchanging giggly kisses and shy touches. Sweet talking the hours away and forgetting about time and place until all they can think about is them and their time together.
They talk about memories and sweet nothings, ask questions and tell anecdotes and just exist in each other’s space.
When eventually, they have to get up and ready to leave back to Positano, Jimin thinks he knows a lot about Yoongi now, just as he should know a lot about them.
Yoongi has to cover the night shift on Sunday on short notice, so after dropping Jimin and Taehyung off at the hotel, he has to head to the beach. It looks pretty in the night, enlightened by fairy lights and lanterns. Originally, Taehyung had already planned a few bars to go to and try, to get the whole experience. But now, they think they prefer Yoongi over any other kind of experience. They know, he’s got to work and they don’t want to keep him from doing that, but that doesn’t mean they can’t spend a comfortable night at the beach.
As soon as they get into their hotel room, their bags for the weekend are dropped to the floor and they go check their suitcases for something pretty to wear. Jimin quickly finds a loose, slightly see through blouse he combines with tight, light blue jeans. Taehyung goes for a fitted black t-shirt that he tucks into his black jeans, the fastened belt hugging his waist. Jimin almost drools at the sight of his boyfriend, revels in the way the shirt stretches over Taehyung’s pecs.
Taehyung proceeds to ruffle his hair to make it even fluffier, while Jimin parts and gels his. He applies some makeup and eye shadow and once they’re both done, they take a look at each other and grin widely. They’re not going to the beach for the water, today, that much is obvious.
Jimin finds an unoccupied bar table, close enough to the bar to keep eye contact, but far enough to not be too obvious. He hops on one of the stools, while Taehyung sits across from him.
“Can you believe tomorrow is our last day here?” Taehyung sighs. “I don’t want to leave.”
Head shaking, Jimin agrees, “Me neither.”
The night is beautiful. All the days and nights here had been beautiful. Jimin can’t imagine a Positano where the sun doesn’t shine now, where the stars don’t shine brighter than anywhere else in the world.
There’s a light wind, carrying away the heat of the day. Music plays from the speakers spread across the beach section. A stray cat wanders about in the distance.
Jimin had seen a lot of the world. But nowhere had been this wonderful.
He doesn’t even think he’s biased because this is where they found Yoongi. Though, that also plays a huge part. The town and its view and everything around is just genuinely breathtaking.
“Already missed me?”
Yoongi approaches them, a smug grin spread across his face.
“Nah, we’re just enjoying our vacation, you know. Taking a break after long, exhausting days on trips,” Jimin muses, causing the others to cackle.
“Our day was literally the most relaxing one we had in a long time,” Taehyung laughs and when Jimin leans over to whisper that Yoongi wouldn’t need to know that - loud enough for the latter to hear as well, of course - they all break out into laughter.
“It’s a bit busy, so I can’t stay with you,” Yoongi says apologetically. His eyes wander up and down his boyfriends, and as he starts biting his lip, Jimin smirks mischievously.
“You look absolutely stunning.”
“So do you, babe,” Taehyung returns, checking out Yoongi, even though he’s still wearing the same jeans shorts and black shirt as he did before.
Nonetheless, Yoongi reddens. “Thank you.”
Taehyung stands up to peck Yoongi’s cheek. “We’ll come to pick our drinks in a bit, okay? Don’t worry about us, we’re fine. Just here to watch our hot boyfriend at his job and enjoy some cocktails.”
“O-okay,” Yoongi splutters. “What do you want to drink, though? I could prepare it for you before you come.”
“Surprise us.” Jimin grins. Keeps grinning even when Yoongi has already left again. “We’re so lucky,” he murmurs, fingers squeezing the hand Taehyung had put into his.
After a few drinks and a couple of hours passing, when Jimin almost falls asleep on top of the table, Taehyung helps him up. They walk past the bar to wish Yoongi a nice rest of his shift.
He looks really happy to see them and Jimin would love to just take him with them to cuddle up in the huge comfy bed that’s waiting for them.
“Goodnight then, cuties. Sleep well, yeah?”
Jimin nods sleepily. He’s surprised when Yoongi surges forward to kiss him. It’s soft and warm, the slide of their lips slow. “You’re so cute like this. Wanna see sleepy Jiminie every day,” Yoongi admits when he pulls away just enough to speak.
Taehyung smiles as he leans forward to meet Yoongi halfway. Jimin finds watching the two of them kiss is just as nice as kissing either of them himself. He’s heavily enamored and before he knows he’s smooching both of them on their cheeks while they’re still kissing each other.
“See you tomorrow?” Yoongi asks carefully. On Tuesday morning they leave, so tomorrow is the only day they have left together.
“Of course,” Jimin promises, pressing another peck to Yoongi’s lips. “Just text us when you’re free.”
“See you tomorrow, hyung!” Taehyung says gleefully before he starts ushering Jimin towards the hotel.
“Did he text?” Jimin asks for maybe the twenty-fifth time. He’d turned off his phone an hour ago because he couldn’t stop checking it and didn’t get anything done. Now he keeps asking Taehyung about it instead.
“Nope, still nothing. Babe, I’ll tell you immediately when he does. You know that, right? You don’t have to ask all the time.”
“I know,” Jimin whines. He’s puzzling another souvenir in his suitcase, the t-shirt that will go above to prevent damage already to his right. Taehyung’s almost done packing. Departure’s early for them, so they want to have everything ready to save some valuable minutes of sleep in the morning.
“Oh!”, Taehyung exclaims, holding his phone an arm’s length from his face. “There we go! He's asking us to come to the pier!"
"Oh? Are we going on the boat again?" Jimin wonders at which Taehyung only shrugs his shoulders.
"Don't know, but let's go? Are you ready?"
Jimin hums, jumping up and running to the bathroom where his toiletries and makeup still are. He hurries to brush his teeth and refresh the lipgloss he applied earlier before he rushes out again.
"Let's go!"
Yoongi's nowhere to be seen once they arrive at the pier. Since he knew they're coming and they know the boat already, they get on it already. They've barely stepped foot on it when Yoongi rushes towards them from behind the cockpit.
"You're here!"
He throws himself into their open arms, entangling the three of them in a hug.
After pulling back, he smiles widely.
"Come, I want to show you something."
Yoongi guides them around the cockpit to the front deck which now is decorated with lights and flowers. There's plenty of purple wisterias, twined around dimmed standing lanterns and the reeling. Roses in red and white are arranged in vases. Some of the petals are scattered around the makeshift bed in the middle of the deck. It's made of blankets and pillows, possibly the most comfortable thing Jimin had ever seen. It's big enough to fit all of them easily.
He turns towards Yoongi, who's already looking at him expectantly.
"Hyung… Did you make this for us?"
With a blush spreading on his cheeks, down to his neck, Yoongi nods. He scurries around, pushes a small table closer to the blankets.
"I prepared this, so we could spend a beautiful night together," he murmurs as he fluffs up one of the pillows. "I'll miss you a lot, and I don't want you to forget me, so I thought why not make some more memories."
Jimin's glad he notices the teasing hint in Yoongi's voice when he talks about them forgetting him. If he ever meant something like that, Jimin would have to make sure he knows how precious he is and how memorable he and everything that happened at this place is to them.
"Sit down if you want, I'll be right there." With that, Yoongi goes into the cockpit, leaving them alone on deck.
"He's perfect," Taehyung whispers dumbfounded, followed up by a desperate whine. "Why can't we just take him home with us. This is unfair!"
"I'd gladly hide him in my suitcase if I could," Jimin sighs.
After toeing off his shoes, he lets himself fall into the pillows. It's just as comfortable as it looks which surprises Jimin slightly since the blankets are still on top of the wooden floor. Yoongi did an amazing job with this. He could sleep here, under the wide sky.
"I'll start the boat! We're going out a bit," Yoongi shouts from inside the cockpit.
Taehyung lets him know they heard and a few seconds later, the boat comes to life beneath them. As Jimin rolls around, Taehyung throws himself over him playfully. They proceed to roll around together, bumping against the other and giggles bursting from their chests. When Jimin's gaze goes to the cockpit window, he catches Yoongi's eyes on them, fondness clear on his expression.
They don't drive far, and they stay close to the coast. When Yoongi stops the boat again, they have the best view of the town. It looks somewhat small from there, depicting the familial feeling Jimin and Taehyung had picked up from it already.
It's not long until Yoongi joins them again, carrying a picnic basket with him. Music's filling the air now, setting a comfortable ambiance. He plops down next to them, gifts them the brightest smile he can manage and opens the basket. Jimin's eyes widen at the abundance of food he gets out and spreads on the blankets. There are sandwiches and fruit salad, grapes and rice, a container of kimchi and some grilled pork. Lastly, Yoongi pulls out a bottle of wine and glasses and places them on the table next to the makeshift bed to securely pour them some.
Once each of them has a glass, Yoongi holds his one up. His eyes are intense as he looks at them.
"To us," he toasts, "to finding soulmates, to finding love unexpectedly, to finding you."
He grins as he sees his boyfriends blushing madly. Then, he licks his lips nervously.
"And to me moving back to Korea in November."
"What?" Jimin and Taehyung yell at the same time. This is the last thing Jimin had expected, yet he can't say he's not delighted by the news.
Yoongi chuckles. "Yeah. You know I've been thinking about it. I guess all I needed to go through with it, was the last push. And that push came in form of you two. We've only spent a few days together, but I already don't want to let you go. I can't go earlier since I have to settle things here, and find a place to live over there and all that, so that's the soonest I can do."
"We'll miss you so much until then that you seriously won't get rid of us for a while. I hope you're aware," Taehyung warns.
With the brightest eye smile, Jimin adds, "I'm so happy!" He lifts his glass to clink it against Yoongi and Taehyung's glasses. "To us!" he repeats joyfully, Taehyung following right after.
An hour later, they’re a pile of tangled limbs and well-filled stomachs. Except for the quiet music and the rushing of the sea, it’s quiet. They’re settled in a pleasant silence. Jimin feels Yoongi’s heart beating from where he lays on his chest, feels Yoongi’s hand on his lower back and Taehyung’s arms wrapped around his waist. Hears their soft breathing. Together, they watch the sun set and paint its own colorful picture.
If this moment would never end, Jimin would be okay with it. Would embrace it wholeheartedly. For now, he doesn’t think about their departure, doesn’t think about having to say goodbye to Yoongi for the next four months after just having found him.
Right now, it’s only them and this night.
So when he hears wet smacks and heavy breaths from above him, he only smiles before sitting up to watch his boyfriends. He lets himself fall into them when Yoongi pulls him in. It gets darker around them as the air grows hotter. When the sun’s gone and the boat is only enlightened by lanterns and fairy lights, when Jimin’s senses are flooded with pleasure and his skin tingles with every touch, hands holding onto anything he can reach, he knows there’s nothing he could ever want more. There’s nothing that could make him feel more loved than those two men. They’re all he needs, all he wants and he wants to give them his everything.
They end up sweaty and breathless, holding onto each other like lifelines. Not once do they let go for the rest of the night. It’s desperate, full of need, of involuntary worry and offered assurance.
Falling asleep like that, Jimin feels at ease. He knows this isn’t the end of anything. It’s the beginning.
Despite the positivity Jimin tries to keep up, melancholy overcomes him when Yoongi drives them to the airport in the morning. Taehyung tries to up the mood by cracking jokes about how horrible the flight will probably be. Small seats, no leg space, overpriced food and drinks. It works a little. Yoongi tells them he’ll keep them in his prayers so it hopefully won’t be too bad.
Time flies by when you don’t want it to, so, soon after they arrive.
At the check-in, Jimin throws himself into Yoongi, buries his head in his shoulder and inhales deeply, trying urgently to memorize his scent. “I’ll miss you.”
Yoongi pulls away to bring Jimin’s hand to his lips. He kisses the sun, then the back of his hand. “I’ll miss you the most.”
Taehyung joins their hug, holding onto them just as desperately.
“Goodbye, hyung,” Jimin says when they have to go. But Yoongi shakes his head. “No.”
“No?”
He smiles, cups Jimin’s cheek and kisses him. Soft and gentle. Slow. Pulls Taehyung in to kiss him too, to say not goodbye but -
“See you soon.”
