Chapter Text
//Flashback Starts//
Fire spread out everywhere. His fellow villagers was shouting and screaming as they tried to find their loved ones in this chaos. Chaos that they didn't expect. It happen all of a sudden. It was in the middle of the night. Everyone was sleeping in their respective home when the loud sound of many horses galloping into the village can be heard.
It was weird. There should have been guards situated at the gate of the village, informing the villagers about incoming intruders but there were none whatsoever. Those intruders jumped down from their horse and entered the home without permission. They ordered for the villagers to gather outside out of their home. Now, this should had alarmed the villagers but they did as they were told. Those 'intruders' were actually soldiers of their beloved kingdom, the symbol of the kingdom shone proudly on the silver armor. Besides, this had happen way too often so the villagers was used to that.
His village, the beloved Certias, is no ordinary village. Those who was born or raised here, all have special abilities. To be exact, extraordinary abilities. Seeing that this world, everyone was born with special powers. Flying, being a halfa(half-human/half-animal), telepathy, etc, etc. Certias however has more than that. The villagers may have different powers but they all share a certain power-The power of Dinah.
What does it mean to have the power of Dinah? They have the power to change/control the flow of blood. That's right. Blood. The most important thing in the human body. Without it, you can't even move your body. You can't win against a fight if your blood goes against you. Hence why the villagers was protected by the Kingdom.
Many families groggily walked out from their home and stood in front. A brunet peeked out from a tree where he hiding and noticed that his family is already outside. When the soldier's back is turned, he quickly sprinted out from the tree and run to his family. The other families chuckled softly as they noticed their little 'prince' had snuck out again after his curfew. The brunet's father frowned disapprovingly at him when he joined them. His mother just giggled when the brunet makes a face, knowing that he would get lectured yet again by his father. When all of the families of Certias finally emerged out from their home, the Captain turned to address them.
"Fellow Certiasn, forgive us for the late announcement. Our beloved King has decreed a new rule that concerns all of you."
The entire village stay silent as they patiently wait to hear what the king had planned for them. The brunet felt a shiver run down his spine. Why did he have a bad feeling about this? He glanced around to see that most of the soldiers were standing between the houses and them. The little 'prince' gripped on his father's pants, hiding behind his father. His parents who noticed his strange behavior, looked at each other . Their eyes filled with worry and they hid their child from view. Upon seeing that, the other villagers did the same as well. The Captain and a few others noticed this, thoughtfully look at the brunet. Just then, a Lieutenant passed the Captain a roll of parchment. The Captain shook off his thoughts, unrolled the parchment and smirked.
''From this day forward, the Village known as Certias and its people....will no longer cease to exist.''
A spark can be heard immediately after that and the villagers turned around to see their beloved house was on fire. Stunned, the villagers could not do anything but stare at what used to be their house and the soldiers. As the shock soon wore off, the brunet's father glared at the smirking Captain.
''What is the meaning of this?! Why does the King do this to us?! What have we done to the King?!'' He bellowed.
''The answer is quite simple, former Colonel of the Alynthi Kingdom, Nikolai. The King has finally came to his senses and decided all of you are a threat to the world.'' The Captain sneered.
''We have no done harm to the King OR the Kingdom! We didn't even do anything that disobey the Kingdom's rules!'' The brunet's mother exclaimed.
''Do not lie, Nana! We have Intel that your powers are evolving tremendously. Sooner or later, all of you would plan to overthrow the balance of our Kingdom!''
''We have no intentions to-!''
''Silence! Our King had already decreed the rule. We shall follow his orders to the very end!''
At the Captain's signal, the soldiers took out their weapons and attacked the villagers whom fought back. The Captain himself summon his sword which shone with power and charged at them. The brunet's father, Nikolai, summon his spear. Nikolai cut himself with spear. With his blood covering the spear, the weapon glowed and Nikolai blocked the attack. The young brunet watched in amazement as he watched the deadly blade dance of his father and his opponent. He had nearly forgotten that he was in the middle of a battlefield. Sensing someone approaching him, the brunet turned to see a soldier lunging at him. The soldier suddenly froze before being knocked down by something. The brunet looked behind to see his mother had knocked down the soldier by using her magic-enforced sling-shot.
''Stay close to me, my son.'' Nana said .
The brunet nodded and they watched Nikolai knocked down the Captain. Nikolai panted and run towards his family. The family looked around. Already, there were many who had died from the fight. One of the villagers limped towards them.
''Nikolai, Nana! You need to get out of here! I heard them calling for reinforcement!''
''Are you mad?! We can't leave you all like this. We'll fight too!''
''Nikolai, no, Leader. You have heard what that guy has said. Someone has betrayed our secret. Your son can't be here any longer. It's obvious that someone has used our secret against us. Even though we do not intend to overthrow this kingdom, the King believed that we intend to do so. Do not forget that the King has never trusted us from the very beginning.''
Nikolai scowled but Nana placed her hand on her husband's shoulder, calming him down. There was silent communication between the parents and the villager before they looked at the young brunet. Nikolai sighed and nodded.
''Forgive me for being harsh, my friend. We can't afford to lose both of our leaders and the little 'prince' to that King.'' The Villager sadly said.
''I understand. Thank you for being with us to the very end.''
The Villager smiled,''Always, Leader. I shall forward your words to others.''
The Villager nodded at Nana before going down on one knee, his left arm placed across his heart as he bowed to the 'prince'.
''May our heart be your guiding key, my 'prince'. ''
The young brunet blinked at those words. He watched as the villager stood up and run back into the battlefield. Nana hold her son's hand tightly as they fought their way from the village. Nikolai blocked the close attacks while Nana summoned a force-field around her family, protecting them from any stray attacks. The young brunet teared up as they pass by quite a number of corpses-some of them were his friends that he had played with before.
The family finally reached the gate. Nikolai untied the rope that secured their horses from wandering off. Nana climbed on her black horse. Nikolai carried his son up and passed him to his wife. Once his son was seated properly, Nikolai climb onto his own white horse. The family take one last look at their once beloved village before riding off. Minutes into their ride, the brunet shifted in his seat. Glowing, orange eyes looked up at his mother.
"Mother,can we go faster?"
Nana blinked before glancing behind. Seeing movement behind them,Nana looked at Nikolai who nodded. The two picked up the pace. When it became apparent that their pursuers would not give up, Nikolai's eyes turned black, the movement around them slowed down and suddenly froze. Their pursuers also froze in place. Nikolai could see their pursuers were two of the best trackers of their Kingdom. He turned to look at his wife and son who looked back at him.
''We can't keep this up, Nana. He had send them out to hunt us down. He really want us gone.''
''What are we supposed to do now, dear? Seeing that the trackers were send out, it means that we can't go to the other village. The whole Kingdom would be looking for us.''
''.... You and Rowenna is still in contact , correct?''
Nana nodded before realizing what her husband is suggesting.
''Dear, are you suggesting that we-!''
''We have no other choice, Nana! We're branded as outcast of Alynthi now. We're not safe here anymore.''
Nana couldn't refute her husband's word. Nikolai was about to calm her when he noticed the surrounding around the pursuers started to change a bit.
''Nana, we have not much time. You need to get our son across the border, far away from Alynthi. We can't let our son fall into this kingdom's hand. You can sense it, don't you? Alynthi is slowly being poisoned with dark entity.''
Nana nodded. Neighboring Villagers that was once friendly to them turned their back on their village. Contempt and disdain for them. For no reason at all.
''Wait, don't you mean 'we'? You're coming with us, right?''
Nikolai only smiled lovingly at her, ''Forgive me, Nana. I need to get them off our trail. I won't let them follow you to where you're going.''
Nikolai kissed his son's forehead. The young brunet as if sensing that it's his last time seeing his father, grabbed onto Nikolai's hand. Nikolai chuckled and stroke his son's cheeks. He looked back to his wife whose eyes was brimming with tears. Nikolai stroke her cheeks and smiled lovingly at her. The two lovers shared one final kiss before riding off to their separate ways. Nana looked back one last time at her husband's confident back before riding off. Nikolai stayed a little longer before riding off just in time before his magic broke.
~Page Break~
''Just a little longer, darling. Just hold on.'' Nana whispered to her son.
It has been hours since they last fled their village and Kingdom. Nana looked down to see her sleeping son. They had pass through the borders and she could almost see the Raveryn Kingdom just ahead of her. Suddenly, her son woke up with a start and wildly looked around. She soothe her son but her son could only frantically looked at her.
''Father! Father is-!''
The young brunet was cut off by a stabbing pain that they both felt. Tears filled her eyes once again. Nana hugged her son. She just lost her husband-her other half to the kingdom she once loved. She's not going to lose her son to them as well. Tucking her son close to her, Nana urged her horse to go even faster.
When she finally reaches the gate to the Raveryn Castle, dawn is slowly approaching. The Guards who is on duty heard the sound of galloping hooves and looked down to see a hooded figure.
''Who goes there? What business do you have with our royal family?''
''I came from Alynthi Kingdom. I wish to speak with Her Majesty as soon as possible.''
Upon hearing that, Nana is quickly granted permission to come in. The Guards is all well-acquainted with Nana. After all, the only one they know who would come from the Alynthi Kingdom is Her Majesty's closest friend. She would often came by to visit Her Majesty. Nana is ushered to a very familiar waiting room. Minutes later, the door burst opened. Rowenna, the Queen of Ravaryn Kingdom and Nana's closest friend came in and hugged her. His Majesty and Rowenna's husband came in soon after.
''I'm sorry if I disturb the both of you.''
''You're not disturbing us, Nana. Are you alright?!'' Rowenna brushed off Nana's apology and gripped her shoulders.
''Seeing that Nikolai is not with you, I suspect that the rumors we've been hearing is true.'' Rafeal, the king, stated.
Nana looked away and nodded. Rafeal frowned while Rowenna gasped and hugged her friend. The three of them didn't speak for a while. Once Nana had calm down and had explained what had happened, she looked at her friends.
''We cannot go back to Alynthi anymore. My husband sacrificed himself to protect me and our son. Your Majesty, I would like to seek protection under your Kingdom.'' Nana bowed to Rowenna and Rafeal.
The King and Queen looked at each other before looking back to Nana.
''You do not need to ask, Nana. We wish to help you not as a King and Queen of Ravaryn, but as a friend to you and Nikolai.''
Nana raised her head and wordlessly thank them. Rowenna smiled at her before looking at the brunet who was shying away from them. Nana smiled at her son.
''These are Mother's friends. Come and greet them, darling.''
The brunet peek his head out from behind his mother and quietly greeted them. Suddenly, a knock can be heard before a servant seek permission to enter. Once given, the servant entered and bowed at them, holding a 4 moth year old baby in her arm. Rowenna walked forward and took the baby before walking back towards them.
''Nana, ****, this is ******. Our little prince .''
Nana cooed at the baby . The brunet slowly came out to look at the baby. The baby, upon seeing the brunet ,babbled out happily. The baby reached his tiny arms out at the brunet.
''Looks like ****** wants you to hold him.''Rowenna said in amusement.
The brunet looked at his mother who nodded at him. Rowenna carefully placed her baby into the child's arm. The baby looked at the brunet curiously. Tiny hands reaches out and touched the brunet's cheeks. The three adults looked on in astonishment as a blue glow engulfed the two. Visible white and green strings twirled around the two. The brunet's naturally blue eyes glowed orange and transparent ribbon-like wings appeared from behind the brunet. The brunet's hair changed into midnight blue. It stayed like that for a while before vanishing.
''That's the...."
''Guardian bond. I heard that it rarely happen . To think that those two have that.'' Rafeal whispered.
Rowenna shook off from her stupor and smiled at Nana.
''It seems that all of this happen for a reason. Welcome to the Ravaryn Kingdom, Nana Subedar and-''

A brunet knelt down in front of a gravestone, placing a bunch of white carnations and Chrysanthemums on the grave before him.
''I hope that you're happy up there with Father, Mother. I'm been doing well ever since you pass on. Life been pretty hectic now. I've been practicing what you had taught me but it's a little hard without your guidance. Uncle and Auntie has been helping me get through it all but I.....just wish that you didn't have to go so fast.''
The brunet stayed silent for a while. Upon hearing that someone is calling out for him, he dusted himself off and stood up.
''Well, Martha's calling for me. I got to go now. I'll came and visit you again when I'm free. Goodbye, Mother.''
A strong wind blow through his hoodie, ruffled his brown locks. Smiling blue orbs looked back at the gravestone one last time: Here lies Nana Subedar A wonderful Mother and Close friend
