Most people think Shigaraki isn’t afraid of anything. The man can be reckless. But he does have fears, they plaque him nightly. He fears being captured, locked away. Forced to live the rest of his days in Tartarus. Never accomplishing his goals. Knowing the heroes caught him.
He also feared losing you. You two had become very close very quick which was rare for the volatile leader. Although your relationship hadn’t yet reached the intimate stage it was clearly headed there. It’s just Shigaraki wasn’t used to being able to touch someone and didn’t quite know how to handle these kinds of feelings. So it was slow going, it wasn’t like he didn’t want to, he definitely did, he was just different.
He was raised without much emotions and certainly never shown how to Express or act on them. You were fully aware of this and were willing to wait. You too had a messed up childhood which left you with many emotional scars. So taking things slow worked for you. You enjoyed each other’s company talking, playing games, watching movies. Sharing tender kisses, warm hugs, but nothing farther.
You were Shigaraki’s happiness, his center, he felt warm and at peace when around you. Hence why he feared losing you so much. His fear had started bleeding into his sleep, what little he got, it infected his dreams. He would wake up in a cold sweat, hands shaking, heart pounding in his chest, having to repeatedly tell himself it was just a dream, you were fine. But the dreams got worse.
Originally they started out with you getting taken into custody and questioned by the heroes, which in return lead to you giving up Shigaraki. Then it was another villain finding you and stealing you away. The last few nights they turned darker, just as Shigaraki would save you from the other villain he would embrace you tightly, forgetting about his quirk for the briefest of a second to watch you crumble in his arms, trying helplessly to grasp at your decaying body tears streaming down his face.
He woke up screaming. This was the most vivid one of them all. Usually he would make an excuse to call you so he could hear that you were OK, yet this time he had to see you. Quickly getting out of bed he was down the hall in front of your door in a heartbeat. Not bothering to take the time to knock he slowly opened the door quietly letting himself in.
Approaching your bed he could just make out your sleep, alive, form. You looked so peaceful. The thought of going back to his empty bed pained him. He would surely have another nightmare. He wanted to be with you. You would make things better. You must have felt something off because you awoke, startled at seeing someone over your bed you nearly screamed in fright.
“It’s just me” you heard Shigaraki’s scratchy voice in the darkness.
“Shiggy what’s wrong are you OK” he heard the concern in your voice as you spoke.
“Really bad nightmare” he muttered.
You were more than aware of his bad dreams. He had called you many times when they had woken him before, but for him to come to your room, it must be really bad.
“Can I sleep here, with you” he asked, his hand scratching at his neck nervously. “I just want you to hold me, please Y/N.” He pleaded.
You moved over motioning for him to join you which he quickly did. His body pressed intimately against yours, arms wrapping tightly around you as he buried his face in your neck breathing in your calming scent. A small whimper left his lips.
“Do you want to talk about it Shiggy” you offered.
“Another villain took you, they did horrible things, then I saved you and…and…I…I.. killed you, you slipped through my fingers as I hugged you I’m sorry” he sobbed in your arms, his tears wetting your neck. Never had you seen him cry. He was so shook up. Your hand running through his soft locks trying to calm him.
“Tomura, it’s ok, it was only a dream. I’m right here. You would never hurt me. Besides you have your gloves right. I trust you completely love” you tried your best to soothe his fears and insecurities. You rubbed his back reassuringly.
“It was so real” his voice breaking as he spoke.
Pulling away he looked into your loving eyes, telling you how much he loves you. That you are the best thing in his world. Then leaning in he plants a deep kiss on your soft lips.
“Never leave my side” he ordered.
“OK” you agreed.
“I think I should sleep here from now on, if it’s OK” he hoped you would agree, which you did. He had been given a taste of affection and was not going to let it go.
You enjoyed having him next to you. Cuddled up close, his warm blanketing you. Encased in each other’s arms all night. Waking up together. Needless to say your relationship took another step. It wasn’t long at all till you became lovers.
