Work Text:
Sou Hiyori and Sara Chidouin were looking at each other in a cafè.
They were sitting at the same table, one in front of the other.
A strawberry parfait placed between them, in the middle of the table.
They stayed still like that for a while, until Sara softly whispered to him.
'Hey...feed me that. I'm pretty sure that's very couple like.'
Easy for her to say that, she wasn't the one who needed to do something so embarrassing.
‘We don't need to go that far…it’s not like we’re dating for real…’
He whispered back.
And she looked at him with eyes that seemed to say ‘You are the one who asked for this.’
Or at least so it seemed to him.
After all, he was the one who told Kanna Kizuchi he had a girlfriend in the spur of the moment when asked about his love life.
She looked at him so expectantly he didn’t have the heart to tell her he never had a lover his entire life.
But then she started wanting more details. Photos of his dates. Kanna seemed particularly interested in this kind of topic.
In the end he had asked Sara to pretend to be his girlfriend for one day to make his story more convincing.
He didn't really want to ask her, well, he didn't really want to ask anyone, but he didn't have much of a choice. Or so it felt like to him.
Of course, she would just tell him to tell Kanna the truth, so he lied to her it was to win an online contest for couples and a promise he'd split the prize with her if he won.
But dating, even if it was just fake, was harder than he had expected. He wasn’t good with this stuff at all.
And even Sara lost her usual assertiveness in this situation.
He wasn’t sure if it was because she wasn’t good with dating herself, or because of the disappointment of having him as her partner.
He figured it was probably the latter.
He eventually tried to feed her that parfait.
He brought the spoon close to her face trying to contain his embarrassment but…she wouldn’t open her mouth.
“…Miss Sara?”
“Uh…y…yeah!”
"Geez, try to focus."
She opened her mouth and closed her eyes instead.
He wasn’t really sure himself, but from what he had heard from Kanna, that was the ‘expression of a maiden in love waiting for a kiss'.
Of course, Sara Chidouin was neither a maiden in love nor waiting for kiss, but it still made things more awkward for him. He suddenly wished he hadn’t listened to Kanna's stories.
Why couldn't Sara just make a normal expression?
He averted his eyes himself and finally managed to feed her. Then, he quickly brought back the spoon to the parfait. Then he focused on trying to calm down.
He wondered how real couples could do something like that without feeling embarrassed at all.
And then she finally opened her eyes again.
Oddly enough, Sara seemed to be fairly embarrassed too.
But that didn't prevent her from speaking up to him.
“What about the photo? Aren’t we supposed to send couple-like photos to win that contest? Did you forget?”
“Ah.”
"And you told me I was the one who needed to focus..."
