Cherry blossoms land silently on his head, contrasting the dark green and wild curls. Big green and soft eyes look at the sky. The sun is rising and it is cold, but that does not ruin the moment.
It is perfect.
Shouto can't help but stare at the boy in front of him. He is saying something, but Shouto can't understand. He is too focused on the smile.
A happy smile.
A smile he wants to protect for the rest of his life.
I love you...
The curly haired boy slowly turns his head towards Shouto, his green eyes, that are now filled with worry, locking with his own mismatched eyes.
"Is... Everything okay, Todoroki-kun?"
"Hm? Yeah. Everything is okay, Midoriya."
Shouto can feel how the heat warms his cheeks. He hopes Midoriya did not see it.
To his surprise Midoriya's cheeks are red as well.
"Well, that is great! You were staring, so I thought you saw something." Midoriya looks at the sky again, his cheeks still red. The worry in his eyes is replaced by happiness again. "Maybe we should go back. Classes will start soon."
Automatically, Shouto reaches for Midoriya's hand. It is warm, not the typical warmth of hands, it is the Midoriya warmth that he learned to love. Probably the only warmth he will ever love in his life. Slowly he lifts Midoriya's hand to his face. Once it is there he places a gentle kiss on the back of the other boy's hand.
He could feel how the other's cheeks become redder than they already are. And he can hear how their hearts start beating faster.
"Izuku, have I ever told you how much I love you? Because you mean the world to me."
Izuku leans close to Shouto. His hand placed on the mismatched eyed boy's cheek.
"I am pretty sure you have," Izuku rests his head on Shouto's shoulder, the soft smile turns even softer. "But no matter how often you say it, it will always feel as wonderful as the first time you said it, Shouto."
"So that means-"
"Yes. I love you, too! And I will never stop loving you!"
