The path they’ve chosen is rough, but they’d rather walk this this road of broken glass together. Seeing each other, staying awake together, catching a cup of coffee together was a luxury- and moments like these should be savored, Neito thought. And savor he did- seated between his loving husband’s thighs on the couch at exactly 2:55PM engrossed in an animal channel the purplette seems to enjoy. One would’ve thought that a day spent together should be special, as being heroes at work took a really huge toll on socialization and intimacy, but to Neito and Shinsou, comfortable silence is underrated. Lazily spending their free days were their thing- much to the disdain of their co-workers who keeps getting blatantly rejected each and every time they try to haul the couple out of their shared apartment. That doesn’t stop Kaminari and the rest from trying, though.
“Hey, is it true that squids have 8 hearts?” Shinsou asks, rumbling voice oh so pleasant near his ear, yet the thought throws him off. “I think Octopuses have 8 hearts. Not squids. Do squids even have hearts?” the blond spoke softly, eyes strained on the TV where the image of the horizon and ocean blue was flashed. Shinsou simply chuckles. “No, you’re wrong. It’s squid. It’s a squid that has 8 hearts.” he argues, and he has the audacity to try and soften Neito up by burying his nose on the crook of his neck, inhaling Neito’s sweet yet musky scent- like pine trees and coffee on a good day. Tough luck though, as the blond wasn’t one to back down from any argument, be it big or small.
“You watch all these animal channels and you don’t know how many hearts a squid has?”
“Bold of you to assume that a squid has a heart. It could be like you for all we know.”
Neito almost, almost gave his husband an uppercut to the jaw. If he didn’t find his snarky remarks endearing Neito would’ve kicked him out, or bit back. Instead, he pulls out his smart phone and pops the browser open, keying in the keywords he deemed he needed for an accurate response. Neito isn’t going to let this go this, and so will Shinsou who seems to have a penchant for annoying the blond and getting on his nerves just so he could watch him fall apart when he leans forward for an honorary “I’m sorry, you win but not really” kiss on the nose. Sometimes, on the lips for full effect. The purple head is petty like that.
“You’re pretty stupid, Pro-Hero.” Neito mumbles out of the blue, and Shinsou’s eyebrows were suddenly stitched together in confusion. The blond brings the phone upward, handing it over the male with his signature shit-eating grin in display. Shinsou grabs the device, and much to his surprise oogle really said a squid has 3 hearts, and an octopus has 4. Shinsou read the article marked with legitimacy for further proof, until he realized they were both pretty stupid… but that’s what makes this relationship endearing, the two thought.
"I win then.”
“No you don’t. We both los-“ before Shinsou could even complain and prepare his pitchfork and torch for another argument, soft lips were pressed against his lightly chapped ones and the smell of brisk coffee and velichor infiltrated his senses. The gall of this maniacal asshole, Shinsou thought, which he had to erase because there he was, placing his warm huge hands over the male’s lithe waist, finding leverage on the protruding hipbone as they share another one of those lazy kisses, yet heated enough to make him uncomfortably tight. That’s just how Monoma Neito is- a roaring ball of sun living and breathing beside him. If he was any other guy, he wouldn’t have put up with this damn cat. But he knows Neito thinks just about the same.
Neito ponders before he loses himself in the kiss. On our next free day, I’ll ask for 24 hours minus one, so I could spend my whole entire day with you and it will never end. Watching the band of cartier silver on his wrist dangle as he wraps his arms around the male’s neck, hoisting himself up on Hitoshi’s lap, Neito spares him another sweet, tender kiss… before pulling away to breathe and watch the pair of deep purple dilate out of fondness and love.
If my eyes could tell, they’d scream how much they love you too, Shinsou Hitoshi.
