Chapter Text
“Don’t worry too much, hyung~ “Hoseok warmly said.
Yoongi’s head is low, looking at what else to pick from whatever meal they ordered—or simply avoiding Hoseok’s eyes.
“It can’t be helped…” he almost murmured with his chopsticks dangling in his hand before picking up few strips of meat and putting them in his mouth. He chews loud—no finesse even in public. He already had that reputation. And not the time to start caring.
Hoseok is careful – perhaps a little too careful when they’re out in public. Their manager booked a private room for the two of them on this god-forsaken evening for their impromptu ‘date’.
Not even two hours ago, Hoseok took the courage to set a ‘date’ with Yoongi. He didn’t intend for it to be 30 minutes after though. Damn, Min Yoongi’s not wasting time!
Perhaps it’s a gift—or a curse. And it happens a lot with the members. It’s blocking Namjoon who couldn’t stop from sliding down the inflatable while being silly in Jungkook’s camera. Or unconsciously holding out for Jimin not to lean on the couch because something on the vent is leaking during one of their interviews.
It’s been weeks…months for Yoongi. Hoseok sees him when he comes to the dorm from the studio. Tired. Paler than usual.
Quiet.
“HYUNG!” Hoseok would sometimes brave himself hoping to get a bit of attention from Yoongi. “How’s it going, hyung!”
Yoongi would sometimes say something. In slurs. In quiet tones. Sometimes audible enough to make Hoseok giggle a little.
“You’re doing great, hyung! Fighting!” Hoseok would always cheer him on. Whether he gets a response or not.
Then Yoongi is out of his sight. It goes on for days. Weeks. Months. Hoseok understands. Namjoon understands.
Yoongi is pressuring himself—and only he himself does not acknowledge it. Every member knows. They all could tell how much he’s putting into this second masterpiece.
Hoseok perhaps could relate the most. He just released a part of his soul through a compilation of lyrics and melody and beat. And with everything they put into it, and even with the warm reception of millions, it can’t be helped to still feel wanting. It’s still not enough. There’s more to that they want to give. It’s still not enough.
“Ah hyungie~there’s nothing to worry about really. I’ve heard most of your songs. And they’re great!” Hoseok leaned comfortable on the couch where they were seated. He’s done eating and just watching Yoongi to pick on the food on his plate.
That would sometimes bring Hoseok to giggles. ‘You’re wasting too much food, hyung!’ he once called him out. And Hoseok would eat what ever Yoongi leaves on his plate. But it’s too late at night now. And Hoseok didn’t want a puffy face in the morning.
“What’s your favorite so far?”
Hoseok laughed, “are you quizzing me, hyung?! Wow, you’re unbelievable.”
Yoongi snickered. Guilty.
“All…of them are great to listen to” Hoseok managed to say.
This brought Yoongi to laugh. “You didn’t remember any of them, Hoseok-ah!”
Hoseok bursts out laughing splat out on the couch.
“Jung Hoseok!”
Hoseok continued laughing. But once he caught his breath, mentioned “People”.
Yoongi quiets down once again. Shy almost.
“People is nice. I like it too,” he says.
“All of them are really great! Believe me when I say that, hyung.” Hoseok said pouting, almost begging Yoongi to really believe him.
Yoongi nods. Smiles and nods.
“Would you come to my shooting?”
“Of course, hyung.”
“I mean—if you’re not doing any-“
“Of course, hyung.” Hoseok said once more. Quieter this time.
Yoongi looked at Hoseok. For maybe the first time tonight. “Thanks,”
Hoseok giggled. “I didn’t want you to tell me again that I didn’t go the first time”
Yoongi laughed. “No one went the first time!”
Hoseok started laughing out loud again. “I knew you were going to say that!”
“Uh…I didn’t want to pressure you though” Yoongi said. “I know everyone’s busy”. His head low once again.
And Hoseok looks at him with warmth in his eyes. He wanted to assure Yoongi that he can ask. All he needs to do is ask. And he just doesn’t. Min Yoongi doesn’t ask.
“I’ll be there, hyung”.
Yoongi quickly looked at him in the eyes, “thanks”.
