Chapter Text
“The targets this time… Oh, wow. They sure do big huh?” That was a sudden exclaim, the pictures in her hand fell onto the cold metal surface. Andreana averted her eyes, observed her weapon carefully one more time before returning to the guy sitting opposite her.
“Yes.”
“You know they can just… capture and tear me apart right. Even those experts fear these people.”
“So are you in, or not?”
“Do I ever have the chance to say no?”Andreana raised her eyebrows in a sarcastic manner “Of course I will have to do this.”
“Good. And.” His voice was monotone, almost robotic “Once they are killed, you and Monica will be free”
Andreana almost wanted to laugh out loud at those words. But she didn’t, she just smiled, a bitter smile was enough. Just how many times she had heard that already. Lies, all were lies. Again and again, they lied to her.
But okay, she would take that “But if I die, you will have to free Monica as well, okay?” As long as her friend was safe
“Deal.”
Oh, another lie huh? But okay.
“Alright. Your hitman will comeback, prepare freedom for us.”
-
Andreana woke up, coaxed along by a comforting warmth. She could heard some small birds chirping outside, signaling the beginning of a new day, but decided to stay in bed for some while. It felt wonderful, and lingering in bed for a few more minutes probably wouldn’t make Monica too mad. She could wake up later, get some leisurely breakfast, spend hours enjoying small chit chat with her lady and then go kill some people again. Yup, Andreana’s every day, nothing changed.
But when her mind finally worked again, took a few minutes to get out of her half asleep state, Andreana could realize this whole strange situation. Since when she had a bed, left alone warm cover like this? Bird chirping outside the window too…? The only sound waking Andreana every mornings was several annoying noises from many annoying people. But wait, her house had windows? When? There were small doubts, and they became bigger. Several thoughts ran through her mind, with a memory: she collapsed in a dark alley, no, she was dying slowly. Someone approached, and kissed her.
K-Kiss???
Andreana leapt up to sitting, even put up her hands into a defensive pose. But, there was nothing. She was sitting on a queen size bed, lots of fluffy pillows and, oh, a red orca plushy. The room around her was a mix styles of those old Aegir nobles and Iberia culture. There was something in the corner of the room, Andreana noticed. A fancy rock like statue(?), it’s blue color reminded her of the deep ocean. On top of that was a broken trident, glowing with an unexplainable hue. The door, at the far end of the room, was locked.
The surrounding was safe, but Andreana couldn’t let her guard down, especially when she couldn’t find her weapon. She tried to remember, something, anything that happened last night. But nothing came after the kiss, except for the darkness entering her mind and body.
But then, she suddenly remembered someone Monica Andreana jumped out of the bed, but her body simply didn’t obey her. A sharp pain shot through her right side, and even though there was no blood anymore, the wound from last night still got her collapsed onto the floor
Agh, fuck
The door crack opened, and someone came in the room. Andreana recognized the sound of those footsteps. She tried to lift herself up, but her arms gave up.
“You still hurt?”
Before Andreana could react, a pair of hands had made their ways under her, and carried Andreana bridal style to the bed. Her side still hurt, but she was able to get a clearer view. A young woman, with slender figure, long grayish white hair, and under her loose bang was a pair of blood red eyes, calm and cold like the ocean itself. Her face inched closer, and Andreana could feel the other’s gentle breath on her lips.
Wait, she was going to-
The second time Andreana actually kissed someone. The softness, the warmth, the gentle way her chin was lifted. She wanted to push that woman away, but gave up eventually. Despite being strangers, the pleasure became too much. All Andreana could do was close her eyes, allowing her wandering hands to clutch the other’s shirt and let her take the lead.
“Hmm” There was a small hum, and the other woman smiled into the kiss. Andreana could feel the red creeping onto her face. The two separated, and she only blushed deeper upon seeing the other’s smile.
“That should cure your wound now.”
“You- Just what are you doing?” Andreana shouted, angrily, to cover her embarrassment.
“I do owe you a story don’t I? Very well, change into something nice.” The woman pointed to the wardrobe in the right side of the room “And come to the dining hall. Take your time”
“The name Skadi by the way. Nice to finally meet you, Andreana.”
“Hey wait how do you know my nam-“
Before Andreana could finish, that woman had left the room, leaving Andreana with no choice other than get change and, well, come to the dining hall.
“Arghhhhh” Andreana groaned, flopped back to the fluffy pillows behind her “You people could have just killed me already.”
-
Andreana leaned against the door, and hesitantly, she eased it open. The hall outside was expensive, decorated in that same strange mixture of Aegir and Iberia. She crept outward, eyes wandered around, and no one was there, so she stepped outside.
That woman, Skadi as she claimed, told her to change into something nice. But honestly, the clothes in that wardrobe were all too expensive for her to bear, so she only picked a simple white button shirt, which was a bit too big, and dark color pants.
And right, Skadi told her to come to the dining hall too. After about 5 minutes admiring all those decorations along her way, Andreana finally reached it, the dining hall. She noticed Skadi sitting at a table in the middle of the room. Her back was to the door, but that grayish white hair, now in high ponytail, was unmistakable. For a moment, Andreana hoped that Skadi hadn’t noticed her so soon.
“A proper good morning to you, Andreana” Skadi said, without once looking over her shoulder “If you’re interested, we can be overdue for a talk.”
Skadi said, and gestured Andreana to sit across her. The table, as expected, looked expensive and was probably expensive too, but it wasn’t too big, so Andreana could still see Skadi’s expression from her sit. But of course, there wasn’t much to observe, yet.
“Care to explain why am I here and why did you even bring me here?”
“I will make it short”
Why did it suddenly sound so not good? Yes, Andreana’s mind was alerting her, but what Skadi said, was beyond her expectation.
“I want you to be my heir.” Skadi was calm, too calm in fact. And Andreana almost couldn’t believe in what she just heard.
“Say that again?”
“I, the leader of Abyssal Hunter, want you, Andreana, to be my heir.”
Fuck Andreana’s eyes went wide, her mouth dropped open.
Andreana had perfectly reasonable reasons to be like that. First, sitting there was a woman, and she claimed to be the leader of Abyssal Hunter aka the most powerful organization, well known to entire Terra. Second, Abyssal Hunter wasn’t just an incorporation or a company or anything like that. They were infamous in the world of hitman and yakuza too. “Don’t mess with Abyssal Hunter if you still want to exist in this world”, that had become a general rule for everyone living in the dark side of this society after all.
And yes, third, Skadi wanted Andreana to become her heir???
“You must be joking.” Andreana could feel words choking in her minds, but considering the look on her face, Skadi was very serious about everything.
“I don’t. And you know that.”
“Y-You do realize t-that, I tried to kill your-“
“Yes, you tried to kill my parents. In fact, you did kill them, and I’m very grateful about that”
Skadi was perfectly calm and collected, totally contrast to the obviously confused and freaking out Andreana. Was that something too Abyssal Hunter for her to understand? Just what was wrong with that woman?
“Can I refuse?”
“No, I have decided. You will be my heir.”
Those blood red eyes bored directly into Andreana’s, sending goosebumps down her spines. Skadi’s words, gestures, facial expression, all suddenly became ice cold. And Andreana knew, she could never go back anymore.
