So this is what comradery feels like , Su She mused. One bad memory at a time, nothing too abstract for the other’s sympathies. It was different with Xue Yang; bitter like aged wine, yet sweet enough to make Minshan feel guilty.
“My father told me that I would end up in a place like this.” Minshan spoke, flattening the beige-colored wrapper between the calluses of his fingers. Chengmei harrumphed beside him, the crack of hard candy between his teeth something like acknowledgment. Su Minshan took it, not that he needed any. “Pouting, sharing stolen goods with someone I could pray made me look good.” Perhaps candy wasn’t quite what he had in mind, though.
Xue Yang nodded, his canine-toothed smile visible even in the dark of their corner, “Guess they all knew better than us, huh?”
Su She frowned, he’s the worst in me .
