Work Text:

Yeoreum is standing right behind the woman who called her over. The familiar figure stares into the long distance.

“Yeonjung.”

The long-haired woman turned her head, their eyes met each other. “Yes?” Yeonjung said. The look on her eyes feels different, they looked empty and cold.

“You said there’s something you want to talk about, right? What is it?” Yeoreum asked

Yeonjung’s lips are sealed. Expression grew cold. Eyes still looking at Yeoreum. The bodyguard girl stood still, waiting for her boss to say something. Yeonjung’s lips still sealed, she didn’t say anything. A small sigh escaped from Yeoreum’s lips. She took initiative to start the conversation.

“Are you okay, Yeonjung? I’m worried about you.”

A small smile. It’s been a while since Yeoreum saw the other girl smile, as the real Yeonjung. Her expression is now way more softer, less cold. Deep inside her heart, Yeoreum feels happy as she sees the beautiful smile that was present on Yeonjung’s lips.

“You’re worried about me? Why’s that?,” Yeonjung continued, “Ah, are you perhaps worried that I might do something dangerous to myself? Yeoreum, you’re way too sweet, you know?” the girl chuckled.

“Of course I’m worried,” Yeoreum said, “I’m worried because I love you, Yeonjung.”

One blink, the cold expression grew on her face once again. Yeoreum saw how empty Yeonjung’s eyes were. It’s way too sudden. Yeoreum felt quite uneasy, she knew that Yeonjung is one cold woman, but she never saw her being this cold.

A small sigh escaped Yeonjung’s lips.

“That’s right. You love me no matter what.”

Yeonjung clenched her fists. Red is the only color that her eyes could see, she was consumed by her own anger. Yeoreum prepared herself to stop Yeonjung from doing things that might harm herself.

The short-haired girl carefully approached the other girl. “Yeonjung” Yeoreum called. She rested her hand on the side of Yeonjung’s side, caressing her softly. Yeonjung leaned herself in as she held Yeoreum’s hand on the side of her side. Gaze locked.

An old memory opens up.

Yeoreum runs down the alley as she silently prays that Yeonjung is alive. Fuck, fuck, Yeoreum cursed under her breath.

Her ears caught the sound of a gunshot not far from her current position. Yeoreum’s eyes grew wide, she pushed herself and ran as fast as she could. The bodyguard stopped running as she found Yeonjung-who thankfully is still alive.

“Die, you piece of shit!” Yeonjung screamed as she stabbed the death man’s corpse with her dagger. “Die! Die! DIE!!” Blood splattered all over Yeonjung’s hands and face, she was controlled by her anger and revenge.

Yeoreum dashed to stop Yeonjung from what she’s been doing. “Yeonjung!” Yeoreum shouted.

She quickly grabbed Yeonjung’s arm to stop her. Yeonjung’s anger disappeared as soon as she felt a familiar warmth on her arm. She turned her head and saw Yeoreum were there right behind her. She dropped the dagger from her hand. She took a glance over her hands that were covered with her enemy’s blood. Her hands are all shaky, fear quickly grew inside of her.

“Yeonjung?” Yeoreum put her hand over Yeonjung’s shoulder. The other girl slowly turned her head, eyes locked with Yeoreum.

“Yeoreum... I, I killed him,” Yeonjung’s voice cracked, hands are all shaky. “I killed him, with my own hands, I... Am a killer.”

Yeoreum held Yeonjung’s bloody hands tightly. Warmth feelings quickly spread all over Yeonjung’s veins. Fingers intertwined, as if Yeonjung didn’t want to let go of Yeoreum’s hands.

Yeonjung let go of Yeoreum’s hands and stared at the bodyguard girl. Her hand reached out towards Yeoreum’s shoulder, she gripped the other girl’s suit tight, hands shaky once more.

“Yeoreum....,” Yeonjung said, almost whispering. “.... Help me.” Tears fell silently from the corner of Yeonjung’s eyes.

For the first time in her life, Yeoreum saw fear inside Yeonjung’s cold eyes.

Light wind blows. The other girl removed Yeoreum’s hand from the side of her face. Yeoreum took a step closer, eyes still on Yeonjung. Yeonjung put her hand over the bodyguard girl’s shoulders. Once again, the familiar warmth spread all over Yeonjung’s chest. She pulled herself closer to Yeoreum, buried her face over her shoulder.

The bodyguard girl pulled the other girl into a hug, resting her chin on top of Yeonjung’s head. It’s been a while since Yeoreum held Yeonjung this close.

Yeonjung pulled herself from the hug, gaze once again locked with Yeoreum’s eyes.

“Yeoreum, there’s something I want to tell you.”

Yeonjung rested her hand on the side of the bodyguard girl’s face, caressing it softly.

“Even though I’m heartless,”

Yeonjung took Yeoreum’s hand and pulled her closer into a hug with her other free hand. She closed her eyes and pressed her lips over the other girl’s lips. A familiar warmth spreads all over Yeonjung’s skin as Yeoreum returns her kiss. Yeonjung pulled herself.

She stares right into Yeoreum. At such a close distance, Yeoreum could see anything present in Yeonjung’s eyes. It feels like that Yeoreum could see what Yeonjung sees when they were together, as the memories flood into her mind.

The whole world stopped for them. Both of them could feel each other’s warmth. Yeonjung’s heart never beat this fast, so fast that it could break her rib cage. A glint of happiness flashes through Yeonjung’s eyes that seems more alive than ever. A small smile appears on Yeonjung’s lips.

“I want you to know who I really am.”

Yeoreum believes, that it was the real Yeonjung.
