Today was a horrible day. As the time carried on, you stopped telling yourself it would get better and just accepted that this is it. How long has this lasted? Days? Weeks? It didn’t matter anyways. It would never end.
You were glad the weather was getting cooler. At least now you had a good excuse to cover up your scars. You didn’t want this to happen. It was just something that did and now your arms were ugly. You were so ashamed of yourself but you couldn’t stop either. It was hopeless.
Today wasted you of all your energy. All you could think about was crawling back into your bed and hiding from the world. No one would even care if you spent the rest of your life tucked away in bed. You stopped talking to your friends and they seemed to not mind your absence. That’s what hurt the most. The feeling that no one even cared about you to begin with. Maybe you should tuck yourself away in bed forever. Maybe you should-
No. You can’t think that. It can’t be that bad. Life can’t be this cruel all the time. Right? Maybe it won’t. Maybe you should.

The day was finally coming to an end. You’ve tried your best to put on a smile. You’re ok! Everything is fine! But now that you put your keys into your door, you can feel the full weight come crashing down on you. It’s like an elephant just sat on you and you rush into your home, slamming the door behind you so that no one can see you. The real you.
You slump to the floor, you curl into a ball and just silently let what you’ve been holding in out. You feel so alone. You are alone. This is how it’ll always be.
Your phone buzzes. It’s probably just a notification from some app you have, but you see anyway.
Kirishima:
Hey y/n! Want to go out tonight? We’re all getting some dinner and seeing that new movie!
You wipe your eyes and see the reflection of your face through the screen. You look so ugly.
You:
Oh no thanks! Have fun!
Kirishima:
Did you already have plans tonight?
You take a moment. Out of all the friends you have, Kirishima has always been the best of them. He always smiles when he sees you and makes sure to include you when the others make plans. You’ve kept up a face all day and you really don’t have the energy to lie anymore. Especially not to him. He’s never lied to you and you trust him.
You:
It’s just been one of those day
(read)
You see that Kirishima has opened your text, but he didn’t respond. Maybe he didn’t care afterall. He’s probably too busy to talk anyways so you just discarded your phone and muster all your strength to get off the floor and move to your bed. Your sheets were so cold and lonely but you wrap yourself in them anyways. Maybe you should just go to sleep. You try to close your eyes, but those thoughts keep you up. You’re still healing from the last time. Maybe you shouldn’t.
It’s an endless cycle of doubt and anxiety. Your heart beats fast as the pain on your chest gets tighter. You just want to breathe but it’s hard right now. Maybe you should…
Knock, knock, knock
There’s someone here. How long have you been in bed? Maybe you just imagined it.
Knock, knock, knock
Ok now you know it’s real but who could it be? You aren’t in a state to greet whoever it may be, but you can’t keep them waiting either. You slump out of bed and drag your feet to the door. They probably have the wrong apartment.
As you open the door, you see the bright red hair and that sharp smile. It’s Kirishima? He was supposed to see that movie. He looks like he just ran a mile, huffing and puffing. There's stuff in his arms too. You see a variety of snacks, drinks, his sweater. You find his eyes and his smile wides.
“I’m sorry I took so long! I tried to get here as fast as I could.” He catches his breath and points his head towards the items in his arms. “I thought you might like these. I’ve seen you eat them before and I got you those drinks you like. Oh and check this out!” He hands his sweater to you and you look at it, tears close to coming out. “I know that you get cold easily so I brought the comfiest sweater I had. I’m sorry if it smells bad. I can’t remember the last time I washed it but trust me it’s super soft!”
You look at him. Your eyes are so red and even if you wanted to, you can’t hide it right now. You just cry.
Kirishima steps inside, closing the door softly behind him. He sets down the snacks and drinks, “Y/n, what’s wrong?” He’s so concerned and he tries to hug you, but you step back.
“It’s-it’s nothing. I’m fine.”
“No you’re not fine. You’re crying. Please don’t shut me out, y/n. Please talk to me. You know I’m here for you.” His voice is so soft and loving.
He goes in for another hug but you step back again. This time, you trip and start to fall, but Kirishima catches you by the arm. When he gets you back up on your feet, he notices.
“Y/n....what’s this? What’s going on?” You try to rip your arm away from him but he’s not letting go.
“Let me go!”
“No! Not until you tell me what’s going on! Why, y/n? Why are you hurting yourself?” You can feel his hand shake and you see tears building in his eyes as he looks at you. You can’t lie anymore.
“I can’t do it anymore, Kiri! Everyday it’s so hard to be here! I can’t do it anymore!” You fling yourself into his chest and cling to him as you confess. You’ve never told anyone before but now that he’s here, it’s all coming out like vomit. You can’t stop.
You stay in his arms for a while. He holds onto you tight as you tell him everything. He’s so silent it scares you. You’ve probably scared him too much and he’ll probably leave soon. You try to break free from his grip, but he just hugs tighter.
“No. Please don’t pull away from me. Please just stay here.” His voice cracks as he tries his best to hold back the pain in his voice. “Y/n...please don’t do this. It hurts me to see you this way. I-I had no idea you felt like this. I’m sorry. But please, for the love of everything, please don’t do this anymore. I don’t know what I would do without you. I’d miss you so much. Seeing you everyday always puts a smile on my face. If you-if you were to ever-”
“Kiri-”
“Please, y/n,” He’s crying, “I love you too much.” His voice is sad and full of emotion as he pours his heart out to you. He lets go of you and grabs your arms. He turns your wrists over so he can see what you’ve been doing. His breath is quacky as his fingers trace over the scars. You try to pull your arms away, but he holds them tight.
Then he brings one arm up to his face and he kisses where your scars are. They’re so light and soft that it shocks you and makes you feel so shameful inside. When he finishes that arm, he brings up the other and does the same. “I’m no Recovery Girl, but my mom would tell me that kisses make the owies go away. I know that’s so stupid of me to say, but I can’t help myself. I want to make your owies go away to…” He brings you back into his embrace and you shatter inside his arms.
You’ve never cried so much in front of anyone before. You were so scared, ashamed, mad, all these emotions coming out of you as Kirishima kissed your owies away. You had no idea how long you both stayed like this but he never once tried to let you go. Once the tears were dried up, you decided to break free from his arms and he let you go. You tried to move your face away from him so he wouldn’t see you, but he cupped your face and looked at you, “I love you, y/n. I’m always here for you and I always will be.” He kisses your forehead and gives you another hug, squeezing you harder than you anticipated.
“Kiri-ugh-you’re choking-ugh-me.”
“I’M SORRY!” He lets you go, dropping you a bit as you catch some air. He tries to catch you but you both end up stumbling and falling on your asses. “OH MY GOD I”M SO SORRY!!!!”
He looked so concerned, like he had dropped a precious vase. You laugh at how silly he looks and he laughs with you. His smile is so sweet and he looks at you with such love in his eyes. “I haven’t heard you laugh in a while. You’re so cute when you smile. I love seeing you like this.” He gets up and offers you a hand. When you’re both up, your stomachs growl. How long has it been since you ate?
Kirishima turns around to grab the snacks and drinks he brought. “It’s not much but maybe we can eat these and watch a movie?”
“I think I’d like that very much.” You smile up at him. He blushes and tries to casually walk towards the couch. He looked like a fool but it was a nice change of pace and you liked having him here. He made you feel so happy, even when he was acting stupid.
You turn on a movie and he stretches his arm out so you can tuck yourself under and rest on him. You were starting to get cold so he went to get the sweater he brought for you. As you put it on, it smelt so nice. Just like his Old Spice cologne and it was just as soft as he said it was.
“It looks better on you than it does me. You can keep it if you want.” When you snuggle with him, he kisses your forehead, whispering how much he loves holding you like this. He rubs your arm occasionally during the movie and gives your head little kisses to remind you that he loves you and that he’s here for you.
When the movie is over, you start to get sleepy and almost dozed off in his arms. Seeing that you were tired, Kirishima picks you up off the couch and walks you to your bed. He tucks you in, kissing you goodnight and makes his way out.
“Kirishima?” you ask before he’s out of your room.
He turns back towards you, smiling, “What can I do for you?”
“Can-can you please stay with me tonight…” It was an innocent question. You didn’t want to be alone after everything that had happened and he knew that’s what you meant. He goes throughout the apartment, making sure the lights are off and that your door is locked before he gets back to the room. He gets into bed with you and you immediately find a comfortable position in his arms. It’s like a puzzle piece that fits just right. He kisses your forehead again and rubs your back, humming you to sleep. Like magic, you’re out in the sweetest sleep you’ve had in a long time.
You dream about what happened yesterday. How Kirishima came over and kissed your owies away. In the dream, all the scars left your skin and you were clean. Everything was fine and you felt happy.
When you woke up the next morning, you were still wrapped in his arms. He looked so peaceful as he slept, despite him snoring like an old engine. You were surprised you slept through that and the thought made you laugh. It startled him and he woke up to you laughing.
“I want to wake up next to you everyday. You’re so beautiful.” He kissed your forehead and rubbed his nose against yours. “Did you sleep well? I hope I didn’t keep you up with my snoring. I know it can be loud sometimes.”
“I slept great actually.” You were so happy he was here with you. Maybe today would finally be a good day.
You spent a few minutes stills snuggling, but his stomach kept rumbling so loud, he decided it was probably a good idea to get some breakfast. When he got up, he asked what you wanted to eat. You didn’t have much food at your house. Your fridge was pretty much bare.
“That’s ok, I’ll order us something. Where did you want breakfast from? My treat.” He was so sweet it made you wonder if you were still dreaming or not.
You got some breakfast from a local shop and when it came, Kirishima answered the door for you and brought it back so you could eat it in bed. You spend the remainder of the morning with him, talking, joking, and just enjoying your time before you both had to leave. Before he left, he said he would come back tonight with dinner. He meant it when he said he wanted to wake up next to you everyday. It made you so happy and you looked forward to what today brought.
Yeah, today was going to be a good day.
