Chapter 1: New Student

Chapter Text

An alarm clock rang at the side of Jotaro's bed. Grumbling, Jojo sat up. "Yare yare daze." Another day, another seven hours of school. Jotaro didn't mind school, it was just so unbearably boring. Getting up, Jotaro dug out his school uniform from his pile of accessory chains, and grabbed his hat off his nightstand. Walking into the kitchen he saw his mom, Holly Kujo, making breakfast in a large frying pan.

"Jojo! Good morning sweetie! How did you sleep?" His mother came up to him, standing on her tippy toes trying to land a kiss on his cheek. "Sit down, I made you breakfast."

Shaking her off, Jotaro said, "Im not hungry." He was hungry, but he really didn't feel like having his mother cling to him right now. Grabbing his school bag, he made for the door. He saw his mothers dejected face reflected in the doors glass panels. Sighing, he turned around. His mother jumped up to him and landed a flurry of kisses on his face.

"Bye bye Jotaro! Have a fun day at school!"

Yeah right. He thought. As if anything fun happens to me. Walking to school Jojo grumbled to himself, "I don't even have a girlfriend to entertain me. All girls are annoying anyway." Suddenly, he heard squealing behind him. He groaned. Speak of the devil.

"JOJO!! Hi Jojo!! You look so handsome! Want to hold my hand?" A group of school girls ran up to Jojo. "Walk with me today! Please please please?!!", a ginger haired girl squealed. Jotaro ignored her.

"Hold on," said another short haired girl. "Why should he walk with you? You're way too ugly for him!"

The ginger humphed. "Look who you're calling ugly, miss no-boobs."

"Ugly!" "No boobs!" "Ugly!" "No boobs!" "Ugly!" "No boobs!" "Ugly!" "No boobs!" "Ugly!" "No boobs!" "Ugly!" "No boobs!" "Ugly!" "No boobs!" "Ugly!" "No boobs!" "Ugly!" "No boobs!" "Ugly!" "No boobs!"

Jotaro had had enough. "Shut up you annoying bitches!"

The two girls looked at him in surprise. "He totally said that to me!" One of the girls squealed. Jotaro sighed. Walking a little faster to get away from them, he didn't notice a flight of stairs.

"JOJO LOOK OUT!!" The school girls screamed. Too late, Jotaro tumbled down the stairs, his pants getting caught on some tree branches. Landing in the bushes, Jotaro noticed a gash on his leg. Ruined my new pants already. The schoolgirls scrambled down the stairs to see if he was alright.

"Jojo! Are you alive? Say something Jojo!" Jotaro ignored the girls and got up, wincing as he put his weight on the injured leg. As he straightened out, he saw a tall boy with pink hair standing at the base of the stairs. The boy walked up to Jojo. He was slightly shorter, but he was just as muscular and looked the same age as Jotaro. His pink curls caught Jotaro's eye, he had never seen such an unnatural color look so good on someone.

"You seem to have cut your left leg," said the pink haired boy. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a handkerchief. "Here, use this. Are you alright?"

Jojo glared at the boy, of course he was all right! Who did he think he was? "Yeah, its just a scratch," he answered cooly. The pink haired boy smiled and turned to walk away. "Hold it!", exclaimed Jotaro. "Thank you. I haven't seen you around before. Do you go to our school?"

"Kakyoin Noriaki," said the boy, stretching out his hand. "I just transferred her yesterday." Jotaro silently shook his hand. "Nice to meet you. " And with that, Kakyoin turned around and walked off towards the school building.

The schoolgirls standing behind Jotaro burst into conversation. "Kakyoin eh? He's not so bad looking, although I prefer Jojo." "Me too!" "No I like Jojo more!"

Sighing, Jotaro headed towards school, away from his annoying entourage.

Walking into his classroom he sat down in his usual seat, in the back of the room by the window. As usual, the seat next to him was empty. He liked it that way, no annoying girls bothering him every waking hour, no dumb dudebros looking at magazines full of boobs or comparing dick sizes. As the teacher called for silence, his mind drifted off into daydreams, and he stared zoned out at the window. He didn't even notice Kakyoin standing at the front of the room with the teacher, introducing himself. Only when Kakyoin plopped down into the seat next to him did he snap out of his daze.

"Huh? Whats going on?" He glared at Kakyoin.

The teacher smiled. "Friendly as always Kujo. This is the only free seat in the class, please welcome your new classmate."

Grumbling, Jotaro turned to the window again. Great, now he had to deal with some pink haired twink for the entire school day. The teacher resumed class, but Jotaro didn't even try to pay attention. He aced everything anyway, so why try in class? Sometimes he didn't even go to school if he didn't feel like it. Kakyoin on the other hand, looked and acted like a model student. He took notes, asked questions, sat up straight, and never interrupted the teacher. Types like him irked Jotaro. Pick a different preppy school, pink head. Jotaro was listening to the teacher just enough to hear him announce class projects.

"Now that we have an even number of students in our class, its the perfect time to do some group projects. In this project you will be designing a poster with a message that will try to convince  your audience of something. The message is up to you. Projects are due on Monday! Please pair up with your deskmate."

Jotaro's head slowly fell forward onto his desk. "Ughhhhhh," he groaned. Partnerwork? And with him? Just kill me now.

Kakyoin on the other hand, seemed quite content with the idea. "Well Kujo-"

Jotaro interrupted him. "Call me Jotaro. You're not my teacher."

Kakyoin chuckled. "Well Jotaro, why don't you come over after school to work on the project?"

Jotaro inwardly groaned. He always hated going over to someone else's house as a kid, so he had stopped doing so in his teens. Why did Kakyoin have to say that? "Um," Jotaro quickly thought up an excuse. "I can't go today. Im busy." Jotaro didn't give an explanation of why exactly he couldn't come, figuring that this new kid didn't deserve to know so much about him.

Unperturbed, Kakyoin said, "Come over Saturday then, or if that doesn't work, come over Sunday. Here," Kakyoin took the handkerchief lying on Jotaro's desk, and wrote his address on it.

Jotaro mentally banged his head against a wall. This kid doesn't get the hint. Oh well, thought Jotaro, I guess I have to do this project somehow. Looking up, Jotaro grumbled, "Fine. Saturday." Not waiting for a response, he grabbed his bag and the handkerchief as soon as he heard the bell ring and stormed home.

He found his mom hanging up laundry. "Jotaro! How was your day at school?" She ran up to him and took his bag. Walking inside with him, she sat down at the kitchen table. "Come drink some tea with me and tell me about your day."

Jotaro sighed. She did this everyday. He sat down with an annoyed look on his face. As much as it seemed that he hated his mom, deep down he cared for her, and even though he says little to her during her daily tea time, she understands him better than anyone. "Today was boring."

Holly waited patiently for her son to continue, when he didn't, she said, "I heard your class got a new student." Jotaro nodded. "Well did you meet him?", she asked excitedly.

"Yeah. Name's Kakyoin."

"Oh my, what a wonderful name!" Squealed Holly.

"Eh," mumbled Jotaro, "sounds pretty dumb to me." After a long pause in their conversation, with Holly sipping her tea, he blurted out, "Im going over to his house tomorrow." Embarrassed he covered his eyes with his hat.

Holly's mouth made an 'o' shape, before she clapped her hand to her mouth. "Oh that's wonderful Jojo!" She reached her arms across the table and hugged him. "You haven't been over to a friend's house in ages. Im glad to see you opening up again."

Shrugging her off, Jotaro looked embarrassed. "I never said he was my friend."
