The Haunted and Strayed (Redux)

Summary:

Atsushi is captured by a group of strange ability users with a secret objective. And Lucy is trying her best to help out the agency into bringing him back. Ranpo and Yosano received a message from a fellow companion they have worked in the past with a shocking revaluation. What will they do to stop these ability users from reaching their goal?

Notes:

I decided to do a redo from the original Haunted and Strayed after reading it. And decided to rewrite the whole story since I am not proud of the lack of progress and character development of that story.

Plus I was lacking the motivation to finish the said story so I thought it wall best to rewrite the whole thing instead of messing up the storyline. Consider this my first half-ish story on Ao3.

But anyways I hope this redux will be better than the first. Hope you guys enjoy the first chapter!

Beware of major BSD manga (and anime) spoilers!

Disclaimer: I do not own Bungou Stray Dogs.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

- Midnight, Meursalilt, France-

It was a cold and bitter place to be.

His ability was flawless but it seems luck was never by his side. His subordinates turned on him after realizing the horrible truth behind the mask he was hiding and the lies he was telling. Had he realize that his friendship was ruined the moment he joined the war?

If he at least tries to comprehend his reasoning for stepping out of the battlefield? They would've been co-director's for the agency with many incredible ability users and perhaps find a woman for him to settle down.

But that was just a lost fantasy...

Now here he is, lamenting in a cell instead being buried six feet underground. His hands cover and his legs shackled.

Across from his cell sat a man with long black hair and red eyes, his head hanging down in defeat from his plan of extinction. He daggers at hims with his blood lust eyes. He was his influence to sought revenge on Fukuzawa and he paid the price for his poor performance. Even with these chains he could strangle that Russian fool to death.

But would that make things better? No it wouldn't.

He looked down on the floor again glancing at his restrainted hands. How things would've turned out differently.

"You might as well accept your fate, Fukuchi."

Fukuchi raised his head from the sudden voice. What stood before him is a man in his mid twenties, dark gray eyes, wearing a black suit coat with brown khakis.

"Don't you agree, old people can do their work but it's best for them to step down."

Fukuchi scowled at the man's talk. How could be forget about this airhead's nonsense.

"What are doing here, Wilde?"

*Oscar Wilde/Ability: Vow of Silence*

"Oh Fukuchi-kun. Can't I just visit an old friend I haven't seen in awhile?"

Fukuchi groans at the mention of 'old friend'. "Last time I meet my 'old friend' he was standing on the other side of my cell." He clarified.

"Ooh well that's too bad."

Fukuchi then frowns at Wilde.

"If you are here to kill me so you can earn your hard earned money, then you might as well do it right now. Put the old man out of his misery."

"Well I could Fukuchi-kun but I find it more pleasing watching you suffocate in this prison from your failed attempt into framing the agency rather than seeing you dead on the battlefield."

Fukuchi scrunched his nose from Wilde's comment.

"Plus I am also meeting an old friend who need some sense from his arrogance and stupidity. I just happened to see you here right across from him." Wilde point the finger towards the prisoner across from Fukuchi.

Fukuchi remained silent as Wilde said goodbye to him and disappears from his cell, leaving him alone with his thoughts.

Fyodor eyes remained starring at the ground from his ultimate defeat until he hears footsteps coming towards him. He looks up at the figure standing before him with his arms crossed and a scowled expression.

"Why are you here?" Fyodor asked.

"You already know Fyodor, since you have eyes and ears outside of this prison." Wilde remarked.

Fyodor slumps down further from the wall while looking at Wilde.

"Your philosophy is indeed true about humans but there is a flaw."

"And that is?"

"You are human too, Fyodor!"

Fyodor continues to look at Wilde with neither anger or shock.

"You'd often forget that you make mistakes, instead of taking responsibility for it. You blame others for their fault on your plan. But in the end, it is you that needs to sweep your own mess."

Fyodor's eyes frowned at Wilde after his statement.

"And to think, you are considered the most dangerous man alive is nothing all but exaggeration if one knows your true weakness. Not only as an ability user but as a person as well."

Fyodor stand up from his bed glaring at Wilde.

"Bastard, if you ever remind me of my weakness I will-"

"It's that you are not a God."

Fyodor clench his right fist and proceed to punch Wilde in the face. Wilde grabbed his fist and holding on to it leaving Fyodor in shock of his ability not killing him.

"Did you forget? My ability allows me to silence my presence and also silence ability users?"

Fyodor thought. 'How did I forget?! After him leaving the Decay of Angels that he has a lethal ability.'

'Has this defeat gotten Fyodor so soft?'

"There are two different kinds of people Fyodor, there the righteous who think their evil and the evil who think their righteous. You are the evil who thinks they are better than everyone else."

Wilde continues to hold onto Fyodor's fist as he is pulling out a not-so ordinary gun from his waist.

Fyodor is struggling to maintain his strength from Wilde who continuously holding his fist with full force. He then flips Fyodor into the ground and puts the tip of his gun on his forehead.

"Last words?"

"You're going to regret this Wilde, that agency and that tiger will not let your leader's plan on dominating the ability race." Fyodor warned Wilde.

Wilde squint at him from his former friend who is feared by the gun.

"Then I'll see you hell Fyodor."

Wilde fired the gun once on Fyodor's forehead. He then removes the gun from his head and stares at the weapon which the barrel is glowing purple.

He glanced once more at Fyodor's corpse and proceeds to leave the cell with his prized possession.

He walked casually where in the main halls were the exit leads. Before he can leave, Wilde pulled down the fire alarm to cause panic and confusion for the guards then left through the doors.

'The Russian has paid his price for his failures. Now is time to travel to Japan.'
