When Taehyung walks into the house he is immediately confused. There's screaming but there is also laughing and he's not sure who's doing what and why, but he feels like he should maybe be concerned. Before he can walk in further to investigate, a bat flies into the room and starts circling his head. “Hello sweetheart, and who are you?” Taehyung says holding out his hand for the bat to land on. There's something familiar about it, but Taehyung can't quite put his finger on it.
“Oh my God, guys, Namjoon hyung is in here with Taehyung,” Jimin says as he comes into the room and tries to grab the bat. The bat flies up high before he can and Jimin glares at it. “Get down here right now, Joon hyung,” Jimin says and Taehyung swears that the bat sticks its tongue out at Jimin. “Brat,” Jimin huffs but the bat just ignores him and lands back on Taehyung's hand.
“Namjoon, you have to come back here, we just want to help,” Seokjin says as he and Yoongi follow Jimin into the room and the bat lets out a tiny sneeze. All of a sudden, Taehyung has his arms full of Namjoon.
“Well, hello gorgeous. Didn't know you were such a cute bat,” Taehyung says kissing Namjoon's nose with a smirk and Namjoon smiles shyly at him.
“I'm so sorry, guys, I just don't usually listen in my bat form,” Namjoon says apologetically as he tries to climb out of Taehyung's arms. Taehyung kisses his cheek and, as soon as Namjoon sneezes again, he's a bat once more.
“So, uh, what's going on?” Taehyung asks petting the bat – that he now knows is Namjoon –'s soft head. Namjoon yawns in his hold and Taehyung coos at him.
“Well, remember how a couple of weeks ago Yoongi was sick and holed himself up in his room? Well, he had a vampire cold and now Namjoon has the same thing. Yoongi's was a lay-in-bed-all-day type of sickness but Namjoon's is... different,” Seokjin says watching as Namjoon snuggles up closer to Taehyung. Before Taehyung can ask anymore questions, Hoseok and Jeongguk return with bags of grocery laden arms. They kiss everyone as they walk by, seemingly unaware of the bat snuggled up in Taehyung's arms until Hoseok looks around.
“Where's Joonie?” Hoseok asks and Namjoon sneezes again and turns back into his normal self. He flushes with embarrassment when Jeongguk and Hoseok's eyes widen at his presence.
“What's going on?” Jeongguk asks as Namjoon hides his head in Taehyung's chest.
“Namjoon has a vampire cold and we think it's from when Yoongi had his but we're not sure and he keeps changing and we don't know what to do about it,” Jimin rushes out in one breath and Jeongguk laughs a little breathlessly at his sentence.
“Ok, wait, wait, wait. Are you telling me that every time Namjoonie hyung sneezes, he's going to turn into a bat?” As if to answer his question, Namjoon sneezes and promptly turns into a bat only to land on his shoulder right after. “Ok, that answers that,” Jeongguk says a little appalled as the bat nuzzles him.
“Aw, he's cute as a bat,” Hoseok says scooping Namjoon up in his warm hands and petting him. A tiny sneeze sounds and then Namjoon is his fully grown human self wrapped in Hoseoks arms. “Hi,” Hoseok says placing a soft kiss on Namjoon's lips. Namjoon smiles at him softly, then he hiccups and something else happens. As soon as the sound leaves Namjoon's lips, a large pair of bat wings sprout from his back nearly knocking everyone down.
“Oh my god, oh my god, I'm so sorry,” Namjoon apologizes profusely as his wings flap on their own. It's almost like a comedy the way that Namjoon spins to pick up one of his lovers while his wings knock a few others down. Finally, Yoongi stops him from spinning and helps him pull his wings closer to his body.
“How about we talk about this in the living room?” Yoongi suggests and everyone else nods as he leads Namjoon to the living room.
“Yoongi hyung, did this happen to you when you had your vampire cold?” Jimin asks and Yoongi shakes his head and pulls Namjoon into his side.
“No, not really. I think mine was more like a human cold than anything but Joon isn't as sick as I was. I guess his vampire senses are acting up or something,” Yoongi says shrugging seeming entirely too nonchalant for the situation they're in at the moment.
“I didn't even know I had wings in my human form,” Namjoon bemoans snuggling into Yoongi more as his wings stretch out on their own. He looks at them as if they've personally offended him and Yoongi laughs and pets through his hair whispering little praises to make him feel better.
“Cute shit like that aside, how do we fix it?” Seokjin asks and Namjoon sighs and looks at everyone apologetically.
“Well, we kinda can't fix it. It has to run it's course just like it did with Yoongi hyung's, and just like a normal human cold,” Namjoon says softly before sneezing and turning into a bat again. The tiny creature seems put out as he flaps his little wings to stay in the air and not fall to the ground that's a lot farther than it usually is for him. Yoongi puts his hand out and Namjoon lands in it seemingly relieved. Yoongi pets Namjoon's head and turns to look at Seokjin who seems equal parts pissed off and worried at the same time.
“I know that he broke your vase Seokjin hyung, but he's apologized a million times for it already. Literally. He's still apologizing,” Yoongi says as the small bat squeaks in his palm. Even though the bat is only a few inches tall, he seems so much like Namjoon, if not a little more stubborn.
“Well, maybe we can bind him with magic or something? That will at least keep him in one form until the cold wears off,” Jimin suggests flicking his wand as his spell book appears in his hands.
“Won't that hurt him though?” Jeongguk asks with wide eyes as he pets Namjoon's furry head as Namjoon chitters happily in Yoongi's hand. Though he's usually more reserved with affection as his human self, bat Joon seems to revel in the touches he receives. It's so cute his boyfriends can hardly handle it.
“It shouldn't hurt him, it'll just keep him in one form until this passes,” Seokjin says trying to think of a way to combine a few spells that he thinks could help as he looks at Jimin's spell book over his shoulder.
“If you do this though, he can't be bound in his human form,” Yoongi tells them and Seokjin looks up at him in question.
“Why not?” Jimin asks ceasing his page flipping and Yoongi sighs as he runs his fingers over Namjoon's small wings.
“Because if you do, he won't be able to turn into a bat ever again,” Yoongi says and Namjoon sneezes at the perfect time.
“He's right. If I'm bound in human form, even the most powerful wizard on earth couldn't unbind me,” Namjoon says before hiccuping and sprouting wings again. Yoongi catches them before they can do any real damage and tucks them down to Namjoon's sides.
“Why though?” Jeongguk asks and Namjoon shakes his head with a tired sigh.
“We're not really sure why. We just know that binding a vampire in human form always has horrible consequences,” Namjoon says and as soon, as he's done speaking, he sneezes and turns into a bat once more. Yoongi laughs as the little bat chitters away angrily in his palm and pets Namjoon to calm him down.
“What did he say?” Seokjin asks and Yoongi shakes his head and admonishes the bat in his palm.
“Let's just say that for such a cute little bat, he has a mean mouth on him,” Yoongi says with a shrug and bat Namjoon seems to huff in his hands. “I know you're tired Joonie, but we have to try to figure something out,”
“What's he saying?” Jeongguk asks petting Namjoon's soft little head as Namjoon chitters away in Yoongi's hands.
“He's complaining because he's not used to being in his bat form without lots of blood in his system. Usually we stock up before a flight because transforming is exhausting on it's own, but it's much more tiresome when you can't control it,” Yoongi explains and everyone nods and coos at Namjoon. They figured he was tired but they didn't know that this was affecting him so much.
“Alright Joon, me and Jimin are going to try to find some way to bind you so that you can stop changing forms so much,” Jin says grabbing Jimin's hand and leading him down to their basement.
“And no making out down there, we're trying to help Joon hyung, not get our rocks off,” Taehyung tells them and Jimin flips him off before shutting the door behind him.
“So, what do we do while we wait on them?” Hoseok asks whisking Namjoon out of Yoongi's hand and petting his head. “He's so soft,” Hoseok whispers almost reverently and Yoongi rolls his eyes.
“Yoongi hyung, is he hungry?” Jeongguk asks already heading to the kitchen to grab some blood bags for him. Namjoon chitters away loudly and flies out of Hoseok's hand to follow him into the kitchen.
“I think that's a yes,” Taehyung says with a chuckle as they all go into the kitchen with them.
Everyone sits down at the table and Jeongguk hands Yoongi a few blood bags for both him and Namjoon. Yoongi smiles up at him thankfully because, he didn't even notice, but he's a little hungry too. Must be from all the excitement he thinks to himself as he punctures one of the bags for Namjoon. Namjoon grumbles at him from his perch on Taehyung's shoulder and Yoongi rolls his eyes.
“Namjoon, you wouldn't have been able to open that bag by yourself ok? Don't be a little asshole about this,” Yoongi says and Namjoon flies to the table to stand right in front of him and glare at him. He chitters away again and Yoongi rolls his eyes. “Well, I am so sorry for trying to be helpful. Next time I'll let you do it with your baby teeth and we'll see how that works out,” Yoongi says puncturing his own bag and taking a drink of it. O positive, his favorite. He holds Namjoon's bag in steady hands and Namjoon seems to complain about that as well because Yoongi sighs again. “Joon, you don't have opposable thumbs, you can't hold this bag on your own. Just let me hold it for you and stop complaining so much,” Yoongi says and Namjoon chitters again on the table. Taehyung laughs and Jeongguk looks on in amusement as Yoongi continues arguing with the bat on the table.
“This is so cute,” Hoseok says petting Namjoon's head when the bat finally sinks his tiny teeth into the bag that Yoongi holds out for him.
“Yeah, usually it's gross watching you guys feed but it's a lot less gross when it's a bat doing it,” Jeongguk says and Yoongi rolls his eyes.
“Sorry we're hurting your sensitive demon stomach Kook. How dare we,” Yoongi says flatly and Jeongguk sticks his tongue out at him.
“Why is Joonie hyung still a bat? Usually it doesn't last this long, right?” Taehyung asks and Yoongi sighs.
“It's because he's tired. He's changed so much that he's drained all of his energy, but this blood bag should help some,” Yoongi says just as Namjoon finishes draining the blood back and sits back on the table content. “Joon-ah, take a nap. That will help you more than anything,” Yoongi says and Namjoon chitters softly on the table. “Don't worry Joon, we can take a nap together. All of us,” Yoongi says looking at everyone around the table pointedly.
“But I'm not tired,” Taehyung says pouting and Hoseok laughs and kisses the pout off of his face.
“It's for Joonie, I'm sure you can get tired. And, if not, I could help you in the bathroom before we go lay down,” Hoseok offers and Taehyung nods.
“I think I need some help getting tired,” Taehyung says and Jeongguk nods along with him.
“Me too,” Jeongguk says and Hoseok leads the two out of the kitchen and into the bathroom. Namjoon chitters up at Yoongi and Yoongi nods in assent.
“Yes, they are perverts,” Yoongi says picking Namjoon's little bat body up and laying him down in his palm. “Now, let's go lay down,” Yoongi says as he takes Namjoon into the bedroom. He lays himself down and situates Namjoon onto his chest. Namjoon spreads his little wings out as if he's hugging Yoongi and snuggles into him. If Yoongi's heart was still beating, it would be fluttering right now. The other three join them a short while later and mold themselves into the cuddle pile but Yoongi and Namjoon don't pay them any mind.
“Ok guys, I think we found something,” Seokjin says waking Yoongi very rudely out of his sleep. Namjoon is heavier now so Yoongi assumes that he's back in his human form, or at least something akin to a human form.
“We had to mix a few different spells together, but these should hold Joonie hyung in one form until the effects of the cold go away,” Jimin says pulling out the paper that he and Jin had been working on.
“So, you have to drink this potion just in case there's side effects, Joon,” Jin tells him handing him a vial of blue liquid and Namjoon sits up and looks at it suspiciously. It gives Yoongi the chance to get a good look at him and he sees that Namjoon is his normal self except he has his bat wings and bat ears standing proudly at the top of his head.
“What kind of side effects?” Namjoon asks voice hoarse from misuse.
“Well, explosion seems to be a side effect of part of the spell and we don't want to have to mop you off the floor. You know, again,” Jimin says and Taehyung laughs incredulously.
“What do you mean 'again'?” Taehyung asks looking at the two suspiciously.
“Is Namjoon hyung a zombie?” Jeongguk asks and Jimin and Jin roll their eyes.
“Relax, Joon hyung isn't a zombie,” Jimin says situating his spell book onto a stand that he conjured up in front of him.
“We just had to conjure up a version of Joon so that we could see how the spell would affect him. I'm shocked that you guys didn't hear the explosion, it was kind of loud,” Seokjin tells them and everyone calms down before looking at the two wizards suspiciously.
“Do you guys always conjure a version of us when you use magic to test out the side effects?” Hoseok ask snuggling back into Jeongguk's arms and pulling Taehyung closer to his front.
“Yeah, I learned after that one time that I gave Jeongguk demon chicken pox when I tried to cure his sniffles and we couldn't get rid of them for three weeks,” Seokjin says and Jeongguk shudders at the memory.
“I didn't even know demon chicken pox were a thing until that day. I've never been so confused and horny in my life,” Jeongguk says and Yoongi scoffs.
“You say that as if you weren't confused and horny your entire first week here,” Yoongi says petting through Namjoon's hair. Namjoon takes a steadying breath and looks to Jimin and Seokjin before taking the cork out of the vial in his hand. The smell is almost sickeningly sweet and wafts through the room the way molasses drips, slow and sweet and thick.
“Ok, so I have to read part of the spell, and when I tell you to, you need to take the potion in one go,” Jimin says and Namjoon nods.
“We should warn you about something though, we're not sure if it'll make you switch into bat form or not. You may stay the same as you are, or you could change, we don't really know,” Seokjin tells him and Namjoon nods and signals for Jimin to continue. Jimin reads off half of the spell and signals for Namjoon to drink the potion before continuing. He reads off the rest of the spell and, before anyone can realize what happens, a cloud of blue smoke envelopes Namjoon before a light erupts through the room. It's still in the room for a second as everyone's eyes adjust and they all focus on Namjoon. He looks exactly the same as he did before, large wings and cute ears standing proudly on the top of his head and everyone looks around confused.
“Did...did it work?” Jeongguk asks and Jin and Jimin shrug.
“Um, maybe?” Seokjin says sounding as unsure as everyone feels and Namjoon sighs.
“Well, I guess we'll know when he hiccups,” Hoseok says and everyone nods.
“So, I guess we can just wait on that,” Jeongguk says with a shrug pulling Jimin and Jin into the bed with them.
“Well, while we wait, I have an idea that can pass the time,” Taehyung says stroking Namjoon's wings and watching him shudder.
“I think I know what your idea is and I really like it,” Jeongguk says and Jimin strokes Namjoon's other wing softly and watches him absolutely tremble from the feeling.
“I've never had sex with someone with wings before, so this should be fun,” Jimin says and it doesn't take long before they're all stripping each other down.
“That was great. You should keep the wings Joon, they're amazing,” Hoseok says around a yawn as he pulls Namjoon closer to him. He rubs down the length of Namjoon's wings just to make him shudder before giggling and kissing him on the forehead.
“Well, I heard Joonie hyung cough earlier and nothing happened, so I think the spell worked Jin hyung and Jiminnie,” Taehyung says kissing Seokjin's neck and Seokjin smiles down at him.
“It looks like it. I have to say though, I'm gonna miss the wings when they're gone, they're very...strong,” Seokjin says and Yoongi laughs and everyone else joins in.
“I'm dating a bunch of perverts,” Namjoon says but he smiles around at everyone contentedly before they all settle down to go to sleep. Freaky vampire/demon/werwolf/wizard wing sex tends to tire a person out, you know? That should have been the end of it, but it wasn't.
The next day when everyone wakes up, Namjoon is missing. He's not a bat or a human bat mix or anything, he's just missing. They search the whole house to see if they can find him for hours, but they can't seem to.
“Hey guys, what's up?” Namjoon asks as he walks into the kitchen and everyone looks around confused.
“Ok, I'm not the only person who just heard Namjoon's voice, right?” Jimin asks and Yoongi nods.
“I heard him too,” Yoongi says looking around to see where Namjoon's voice came from.
“Guys, I'm right here, what are you talking about?” Namjoon says as he walks past everyone in the kitchen and opens the refrigerator to pull out a blood bag. He pulls a chair out from beneath the table and sits down before puncturing the bag and drinking out of it.
“Please tell me I'm not the only person seeing this,” Jeongguk says staring at Namjoon as if he's crazy.
“Um, Jin hyung, Jiminnie, I think you guys should come see this,” Hoseok yells out of the kitchen staring at Namjoon with wide eyes.
“This better be good, I was just about to get laid,” Taehyung say with a glare as he, Jin, and Jimin enter the kitchen. Hoseok points at the seat Namjoon is in and Taehyung gasps as Seokjin sighs.
“Well, this is a side effect we weren't expecting,” Seokjin says as he conjures his work station up from the basement and starts searching through his spell book.
“This explains why we couldn't find Namjoon number six though,” Jimin says as he joins Seokjin in front of his spell book to look through more spells.
“What's wrong guys, why are you all looking at me like that?” Namjoon asks after he drains his bag and tosses it into the trash.
“Well Joon hyung, you're kind of invisible,” Jeongguk says and Namjoon laughs.
“Ha ha, very funny prank guys,” Namjoon says rolling his eyes with a scoff. Without saying anything more, Jimin conjures a mirror in front of him (because vampires can see themselves in mirrors, thank you very much) and Namjoon gasps at the lack of a reflection in the mirror.
“Well, I guess it's back to the books for us,” Jimin says with a sigh and Seokjin nods with a sigh of his own.
“Guess so. We'll be in the basement. Again,” Seokjin says as he and Jimin walk out of the room. It's just another day in the supernatural bangtan household after all.
