Blueming

Summary:

Yoongi couldn’t help but wonder about the dashing young man in a suit, who visited his flower shop, every single day, to order a red rose bouquet for someone special.

He was there, everyday, like clockwork. Same time, same red roses, same pretty smile that never quite reached his eyes.

Chapter Text

Yoongi was drumming his fingers onto the countertop in sheer boredom, his dark eyes watching the streets outside as he waited for at least one person to show up inside the flower shop.

Business was always pretty much slow, when it wasn’t Valentines or White Day season but Yoongi usually found something to entertain himself while he worked. Most of the time.

There was a time when he played a game with himself, counting the amount of times the manager from the restaurant across the street yelled at the employees.

He’d counted a total of twenty-seven that day, he could tell that the manager had a really short temper.

There was another time that he began to make up a story inside his head about the elderly couple that lived right beside the restaurant across the street.

He made up an entire storyline about how they had met in a ski resort during winter of 1971, and they both fell in love over that one vacation.

But the bottom line is: Yoongi was pretty much used to just hanging around the flower shop but waiting for a customer to arrive until his shift was over.

It wasn’t really as if Yoongi hated his job— in fact, he loved it. Being a florist was his dream, and he came from a family of florists so it was easy to be taught the proper ways of taking care of all kinds of flowers.

It just got really boring some days whenever they didn’t get too many customers. And today was one of those days.

Yoongi wished that someone would save him from his boredom, maybe someone who thought to look through their shop’s selection of flowers and decide to buy a bouquet another time.

He breathed out a sigh, his dark eyes flickering outside their shop. He immediately locked gazes with a dark haired man, who looked around the same age as he was.

The dark haired man was wearing a suit, Yoongi assumed he was a businessman judging from the way he dressed and the florist checked the time on the store clock to see that it was already five thirty— right around the time when some office workers headed home for the day.

The businessman entered the shop, his dark eyes sweeping the room as he took in the many available selections of flowers in the Min Flower Shop.

Yoongi thanked the heavens for giving him one customer, and he immediately stood up to entertain the sharply dressed gentleman. He put on one of his employee smiles, a practiced closed mouth smile that didn’t entirely reach his eyes.

“Good afternoon, how may I help you sir?” He asked, watching as the gentleman chewed on his bottom lip as he scanned the flowers in display.

“Um, do you have any red roses?” The dark haired man asked Yoongi.

Yoongi nodded, knowing how common it was for them to be asked for red roses. He assumed that he must be giving them to his significant other.

“Of course sir, do you want a bouquet or just a few pieces?” Yoongi asked, striding over to the roses they have on display.

The dark haired man followed him, his breath hitching when he caught sight of the beautiful line of roses their shop had.

“They look beautiful,” he grinned, nodding his head. “Can I please get a bouquet?”

“Nice choice sir,” he remarked, carefully taking a number of red roses from their display. He was careful not to prick himself on the roses’ thorns, and immediately went to arrange them to place into a bouquet.

Yoongi tried his very best to ignore the handsome stranger’s gaze on him as he arranged the red roses. He was practically used to customers watching him work, but Yoongi felt unsettled as he worked under the stranger’s gaze.

Maybe it was because Yoongi found the customer incredibly attractive.

Yoongi had tried his best not to show how nervous he was the entire time and exhaled in relief when he had finished his work.

He presented the finished bouquet to his customer, who had such a huge smile on his face that Yoongi instantly felt better just seeing that bright smile. “Thank you.”

The dark haired man had paid for his order with a huge smile and Yoongi handed the man his bouquet with a practiced smile. “Thank you for your business, sir, I hope we see you again.”

The sharply dressed man sniffed the bouquet happily, nodding at Yoongi before he left the flower shop.

Yoongi drew out a long breath, slightly sad knowing that he might not see that attractive man for a long time. Or not ever, after that.

He didn’t expect to be proven wrong though.
