Of New Enemies & Lunch Dates

Summary:

He had been aware that Chuuya had changed so much more then what he had been expecting. But he could figure it out over the next Lunch Date

Work Text:

Coffee wasnt his favorite drink in the world, in fact he rarely ever got near the stuff if he could help it. He had been taken in and raised by Kouyou herself when he had joined the Port Mafia all those years ago. She was a traditional woman so he grew learning these old traditions and routines during his time as her trainee. So of course he was more of a tea man, and not the teas one would buy in a box pre packaged, no, he drank traditional tea. Whole tea leaves that needed to be left in certain temperatured water for a certain amount of time. While yes he had a love for wine, he couldnt drink that all day every day. So when he found himself being asked out to have a cup of coffee with none other the  Kunikida from the ADA, Chuuy was needless to say, shocked. Since their first run in together there had been a few more times afterwards of the blonde coming into the wine shop to buy a bottle or two of wine. It was odd to the ginger, after all maybe he had a lover who liked wine and would have a glass of it at dinner every night.

But then he heard from Nicki he would only ever stop by if Chuuya himself was actually there. At first he found this a bit suspicious, Nicki did as well. Now when Rick caught wind of this, Chuuya was sure the older man was going to electrocute the blonde haired Detective. It was no secret that Riordan was extremely protective of him and Nicki. He supposed it was because they were much younger then he was, and with what the man had experienced during his youth when he had been kidnapped. Either way, Chuuya had to reassure both of his friends that Kunikida meant no harm and would do him no harm. They were sceptical, but they did calm down enough to not talking him to the cafe that was a bit close to his modeling Agency. Now, he never saw himself as a nervous man, no far from that. Temperamental? Yes. Aggressive? Yes. Unpredictable? Yes. But nervous? No, no he was many things but nervous had never been one of those things.

Said ginger gave the waitress a polite smile when she set down a cup if tea in front of him and it was in that moment Kunikida had decided to walk in. The blonde gave the smaller man a nod and asked the waitress for a simple cup of black coffee. With him was a large, tan colored envelope. Ah, so this meeting had another motive. Chuuya felt mild disappointment but didnt let it show as the taller man sat across from him. "Right on time, as always. So, who or what do I owe the honor of this meeting?" He asked, a slight tilt of his head.

"Your a target. And not just for the Port Mafia." Kunikida stated bluntly, he had expected the other to look confused or shocked by the news, but got no reaction of that sort from him. Had he already known? "There's a group that recently surfaced here in Yokohama, they call themselves King's Men. A group of black Market traders and human traffickers. However-"

"Their targets are only gifted individuals....I know. They were in France and Italy while I was there. Had a few run ins with them too." Quite a few violent run ins as well, while none of them had been successful in capturing him, they sure as hell tried their damnd hardest to. They did their research on him to, along with Rick and Nicki. Though he suspected that he was their main target verses the other two who just happened to be there willing to stop them. "They're smart, some are even ability users themselves. I dont know how they managed but they've managed to develop a type of represent for certain abilities so long as they have a good understanding of it."

"You speak from experience....so they've used this on you before." It wasn't a question, it was a statement, a fact. He saw the small nod Chuuya gave as he took a careful drink of his tea. He was avoiding looking at him in the eyes. Meaning he either wasnt happy about admitting that, or it was something that made him uncomfortable, scared him even. The blonde didnt know Chuuya well enough to say that the smaller but older male felt fear, he but he could always tell when something bothered someone. This man before him was no exception to the rule. "How did you manage to escape or avoid capture?"

"Do you remember that woman that was at the shop with me? She and another friend of ours helped me
They protected me when I was drugged and unable to do much. It was because of them I'm still even here." Kunikida stared, he could tell by how his eyes got gentle, hoe his tone softened that he cared for that woman and the other friend he spoke about. "The woman, her name is Nicki Pau Preto and the other friend, his name is Rick Riordan. Both are ability users, gifted individuals. They've been very important to me since leaving the Port Mafia." One could say they became the family he didnt realize that he needed until they were actually and finally there with him. "They kept me safe and made sure to keep an eye on me until I was fully recovered."

"And you didnt use your ability? Why?" The blonde knew of Chuuya's ability, most of the ADA knew he could manipulate gravity, they had seen how he could stop bullets and just aim them right back at his attackers. He could have easily crushed his enemies by making them heavier and heavier. So why hadn't he used his ability? What was stopping him? Not to mention he was a very highly skilled Mix Martial Artist. What was stopping him unless- "You dont use your ability anymore." Chuuya nodded at this, it left Kunikida stunned for a moment. They remained silent, thr silence thankfully wasnt uncomfortable or awkward, it was merely a moment to allow information to sink in. "That's dangerous, especially as you have two large targets on your back." He watched the older man shrug, it was like he did t really care all that much. Maybe he actually didnt. "Are you sure it's a wise idea? Do you think you'll be able to keep going on like that? Not using your ability?"

"I hope to never use it again." Chuuya was honest, he wasted no time in giving that answer. But his gaze was fixed on the dark tea in his cup. He could see his reflection in it, and for the first time in a long while, he found himself thinking that he just looked...odd. younger without that hag of his on his head, not sporting the Mafia geg up he had. No, instead he found himself wearing a black shirt with a red and black plaid dress shirt tied around his waist. He stared at his gloves hands too, and in his reflection he still had on they black choker. "But I know it's only a matter of time before I will be forced to use it again....I just hope it doesnt happen because I've put Nicki and Rick in danger."

He meant that too, Kunikida noted. At least the other understood and knew there was a chance he would once again have to use his ability to fight. But for now he seemed content with not using it, he seemed happy with living a normal life now verses working with the Mafia. Right now, Chuuya had no involvement with the dark underbelly of the city and had no involvement with any sort of law enforcement either. Right now, he was simply Nakahara Chuuya, a fashionista, a wine lover. A man who had very successful businesses and two loyal friends. He nodded as he then slid the envelope he had brought with him across the table. "For you. Should you decide that perhaps you need any sort of protection. Or that is to say, if you feel like you need more then what you currently have."

Chuuya raised a brow and gently took the envelope into his gloved hands. He took a moment before opening it and pulling out the papers inside of it. He found himself smirking a small bit and looking up at the blonde. "Well, this is one way of getting my number and giving me yours,"

"What? N-no- you've got the wrong idea-"

The blonde soon found staring at the smiling ginger, laughing at the flustered state he had just caused. Kunikida was many things, he had many ideals...but he wasnt blind. Chuuya was stunning, beautiful, breathtaking. He was powerful as he was frail looking. This man was deadly and had proven to be such. And yet...he had ultimately decided to leave they behind and try to live as he wanted to, despite knowing the danger he was in.

"Let me treat you to lunch one of these days. Alright?"

"Alright." Kunikida didnt miss a beat in responding.
