Hitoshi Shinsou was in love with Denki Kaminari. He didn’t know how it happened, or when he had started to feel this way, but he was in love with her. He loved the way her smile lit up a room, and the way the light glowed in her eyes. He loved the way she always tried to make people laugh, and he loved the stupid lightning bolt in her hair. She was so perfect to him, and it crushed him because he knew she would never feel the same way about him. He let thoughts of her run through his head as he approached the door to 2-A’s rooftop. He liked to come out here at night to think about things, and to find some much needed calm solitude away from the craziness of his class.
Which is why he was shocked to find Denki sitting on the rooftop, head buried in her knees as she sat among the slowly drifting snow. He could hear muffled sobs coming from the girl, and saw her body quake and tremble. “Denki?” he asked her, unsure of what he should do, or what was wrong. The girl’s head whipped around, her blonde locks catching the falling flecks of white as she turned to look at him. He could see the surprise in her golden eyes through the watery film of tears, which she frantically tried to wipe away with one of her hands. “O-oh, hey Hi-hitoshi,” she said softly, clearly trying not to choke on the words as they came out of her throat. He walked over to her, the soft snow crunching beneath his footsteps, and sat down next to her. “You don’t have to, but I’m here if you want to talk about anything,” he said, gently resting his hand on top of hers.
“I- it’s nothing, I promise,” she stuttered, trying to wipe away the tear tracks that marked her skin. She had black smudges above her dark eye bags from the mascara she had cried off, and her normally bright eyes looked empty, as if the normally present life and excitement was missing from them. “Denki, it’s almost midnight, and you’re crying on the roof. I’m not going to pry, but you can always talk to me,” he said softly to her, looking into the ocean of her sad, golden eyes. “I- I’m sorry,” she said quietly, as her body trembled from both the cold and the racking sobs that had been shaking her only mere moments ago. “Hey, hey, hey. Shhh, it’s okay,” he said, wrapping his jacket around her to keep her from the biting chill. Her cheeks flushed a deep red as he touched her back, and she offered him a small smile as he took her cold hand and held it in his. “Is it okay if I-”she trailed off, before Hitoshi nodded gently at her. She adjusted her body until she was sitting in his lap, and laid her head gently on his chest. Now it was Hitoshi’s turn to blush a bright red as his crush snuggled into his chest, before he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer.
“I just.. I feel like nobody needs me here,” Denki began, wiping away the tears that threatened to spill from her eyes. “Everyone makes fun of me for being stupid, or frying my brain, and I’m just so tired of everyone always laughing at me. Am I just not good enough? I’m just so tired of feeling so alone,” she said dejectedly, sounding like a shell of the girl she normally was. Hitoshi pulled her closer, and gently pressed a soft kiss to her head. “Then let me be alone with you,” he whispered to her, tilting her head up with his fingers before pressing her soft lips to his. He heard her squeak in surprise, before she melted into the kiss as he held her gently. She tasted sweet, like lemon cream and vanilla, and her breath was hot against his lips. After a few more moments, Hitoshi pulled away, leaving Denki staring at him with wide eyes, her cheeks dusted with a heavy blush. “H-Hitoshi?” she asked, as he rubbed her lower lip with his thumb. “Denki, I meant that. I love you, and I know you probably don’t feel the same, but you’re not alone. I’m always here for you,” he said, as he held her face gently with his hand, wiping what was left of the tears away. “I-I love you too! I’ve loved you since we first met and I-” she stuttered, before being cut off by Hitoshi’s lips on hers once again. He felt the small girl melt against his body, leaning into the kiss as his arms wrapped around her and pulled her close to him. After a few seconds of this, he pulled away again, and kissed her forehead. “Baby, you are good enough. You’re perfect, and lovely, and amazing, and you are not alone. I promise,” he said, smiling at her, as she stared at him with love in her eyes.
“Can we....” she trailed off, and he nodded at her. He slowly stood up, cradling the girl in his arms. She clung to his chest and wrapped her arms around his back as he carried her, gently shutting the door behind them. She rested her head on his shoulder as he carried her back to his room, opening the door with his hip, and closing it as they entered the room lit by the dim purple glow of the LEDs. He set her down on the bed, softly laughing as she dusted the snow out of her hair with her slim fingers. She giggled back at him as he threw the jacket he had worn onto the floor, anc crawled onto the bed with her. He pulled her close to him after covering her shivering body with blankets, and she laid her head onto his chest as his fingers traced soft circles on her back. “Do you really mean that?” she asked quietly, as he held her tightly. “Of course I do. You’re not alone anymore, Denki.” he said, with love in his voice. She smiled at him, and maybe, just maybe, she felt a little better, as she drifted off to sleep in the warm arms of her love.
