Work Text:

His feet couldn’t move him fast enough. He had to hurry.

He didn’t care that it was 3:17 in the morning.

He didn’t care that he was still in his pajamas, wearing his slippers instead of actual street shoes.

He is finally awake. His beloved Leone is finally awake.

Giorno could only do so much to heal Leone on the beach in Sardinia, only able to get him stable enough to make it to the nearest hospital, where he has been for the last 3 weeks in a coma, teetering on the edge of life or death. Despite his own previous trauma in Venice, Bruno left the colosseum rather unscathed, unlike Narancia, who had only been discharged from the same hospital on strict bedrest a few days prior. The blonde truly pushed the limits of his Stand, Gold Experience, in order to make sure all of them made it out alive. Now he too was facing the painful, both mental and physical alike, aftermath of that fateful week.

Bruno got a call from the hospital stating that he finally woke up, that he was lucid and he could finally see those sunset eyes that he longed for. Slowing his pace, he stands in front of a door.

Abbacchio, Leone

Softly opening the door, Bruno took in the room that he became quite familiar with as he sat by his boyfriend’s bedside yearning for him to awaken. To open his eyes and flash him his signature half grin, to hold his hand and have his own be held in return. As he scanned the room, his eyes finally landed on Leone, who was looking back at him, and that broke the façade of strength within Bruno as a single tear fell from his eyes.

“Oh god, Leo… I-I can’t believe you’re finally awake.”

Rushing to his bedside, Bruno sat down in the chair he’d left at Leone’s bedside. Grasping his cold hand and bringing it to his lips as he dips his head in relief, “I thought I lost you. I thought I would never get to see you, to hold you again.” Bruno feels a heavy weight on his head, now realizing it is Leone’s other hand.

“Heh, it’ll take more than becoming a human donut to kill me, I still have shit to do with my life.” Leone wheezed out, which led him into coughing fit due to not speaking for the last 3 weeks.

“What the hell, Leone?! The first thing you say to me is some morbidly positive joke?” Bruno couldn’t help but gawk at the goth, secretly thankful that his boyfriend was still himself.

“Don’t lie, Bru, you missed it. Right?” His signature half grin reminded Bruno that his Leone was alive. That he was awake and alive and he was holding his hand lovingly. Bruno’s head dipped, no longer able to look him in the eyes. “I’m sorry, Leone.” Surprised at the sudden apology, Leone only tilted his head as if to ensue Bruno to explain why he is apologizing.

“In Sardinia, I left you. I left you to use Moody Blues to rewind and find the boss while I went searching for enemy Stand users. Then I left you in the hospital while you were probably dying to continue our mission. I left you, Leone. I left you…” Bruno grasps Leone’s hand tighter, careful not to harm him as his body trembled from all of the fear and anxiety finally being released after bottling it up for so long.

“Bruno, you know you would’ve wanted me to do the sa-” Bruno cuts him off before he could finish.

“Leone, I was afraid that I would never get the chance to ask you to marry me.”

Leone’s eyes widen as Bruno’s words sink in. He wants to marry me?

His lack of a response only prompts Bruno to ramble on, afraid of the possible rejection. “I had been planning on doing something cheesy, like making a wonderful dinner and eating it in the yard in the moonlight. Possibly convincing Mista and Narancia to be our waiters, since it would be best to just let them play a part in the proposal instead of going behind our backs like they did when you asked me out. Then I would give you my father’s ring and-”

“Your father’s ring?”

Bruno finally raises his head a bit to look into Leone’s eyes, being taken aback at the slight glimmer of unshed tears being reflected from the fluorescent lights. Stunned, Bruno could only nod his head.

“God Bruno… You really are such a sap.” Leone’s full smile reflects the pure love he feels for the man sitting by his bedside. “All of that to ask some lousy, grouchy ex-cop turned mafia member to marry him?”

“Leo what have we talked about when using self-deprecating comments like that?”

“Yes.”

“Yes what?”

“Yes, I will marry you. You and your weird-ass habit of licking people to find out if they’re lying or not and your inability to be vulnerable, which we really need to work on.” Leone’s gaze turns soft as he gently brings their hands to his own lips, gently pressing a soft kiss to Bruno’s hand.

“Hypocrite.” Bruno muttered, rolling his eyes at his boyfr-,  fiancé’s, antics.

“Never said I wasn’t.” Finally taking in Bruno’s disheveled appearance. “You missed me so much that you ran all the way over here in your pajamas? I feel touched.” Bruno gently shoved Leone’s shoulder, mildly annoyed by his comment.

“Like you wouldn’t do the same thing. Remember when Narancia decided to run away after he accidentally broke your flat-iron? You just about left the house in your underwear and coat in the middle of a thunderstorm to bring him back home, and yet you still say that they aren’t your kids.”

Leone felt heat rising to his pale face after being called out, “the rat could’ve gotten sick. He wouldn’t have been healthy enough for our next mission otherwise.”

Smirking pridefully after thoroughly calling his Leone out, his gaze becomes soft once more as he stares into Leone’s eyes.

Carefully climbing into bed beside him, Bruno leans in to press a chaste kiss against his lips and maneuvers them both carefully so that Leone could rest his head on his fiancé’s chest. “I love you, my sun. I’m so happy to be able to call you mine.”

“I love you too, my moon.”

They both knew that Leone still had a long road until he was fully healed, a road that could include many ups and downs. Yet, knowing that they had each other to rely on, someone to support them through it all no matter how shitty the world had become, they could finally be at peace.

Notes:

So, what do you think?
I'm thinking about possibly writing about that Narancia and Abbacchio part, but I haven't decided that yet.
Honestly, I should have been doing homework but alas the brainrot was too much lmfao.
As always, y'all are valid and I hope y'all have a good day!
