“Trick or treat!”
Jin grins at the woman, holding his brother’s hand as the child holds out a small bucket. She coos, bending down to give him full access to the candy in her hands. Looking at Jimin, Jin gently nudges his brother to take some. Jin can honestly say, Jimin is the cutest kid ever; he’s dressed up as a pumpkin, little arms and legs poking out of the lumpy, bright orange costume. He has a little hat perched on his head, secured by a small strap under his chin, which puffs his little cheeks out like a squirrel. It’s Jin’s favorite thing ever.
“Thank ‘ou,” Jimin says, shy, his chubby little cheeks tinged pink.
Jin feels his face spasming, heart thumping at the cuteness. The woman must feel something similar as she practically melts to the ground, reaching out to put a few more candies in Jimin’s bucket. Beaming, Jimin tugs at Jin’s hand, little fingers gripping tight. He bends down, picking the three-year-old up and holding him on his hip.
“Hyung! I got candy!”
Laughing, Jin bounces the toddler a little, bowing slightly in thanks as the woman waves. Making their way towards the next house, Jin sets Jimin down in time for the door to open, the person’s eyes lighting up in happiness. Jin laughs, watching as Yoongi practically whips Jimin up, hugging the screeching toddler to his front. Jimin’s arms are tight around Yoongi’s neck, a wide smile on both their faces.
“Yoonie-hyung!”
“Ah, my little pumpkin! You’re here! I missed you so much!”
The two snuggle their faces together, Yoongi cooing as Jimin plants a smacking, wet kiss to his cheek. Jin coos at them, fumbling for his phone to take a picture. Yoongi glares at him, expression smoothing out as Jimin turns to giggle at him. Lifting the toddler a little higher, the two beam at Jin, the elder snapping a few more photos.
“I want those printed out and framed by next week,” Yoongi demands, clutching Jimin to his chest as he goes back to glaring at Jin.
Snorting, Jin reaches out to thumb Jimin’s cheek, the three-year-old sneezing cutely. Yoongi’s mouth wobbles, turning to look at Jin, betrayed; Jin nods solemnly, a slow grin spreading across his face.
“Yoonie-hyung,” Jimin murmurs, snuggling into Yoongi’s shoulder, “can I have some juice, peas?”
“You can have whatever you want, Jimin-ah,” Yoongi murmurs, looking up at the ceiling and blinking rapidly.
Laughing into his hand, Jin follows the two into the house, the sound of their friends drifting from the living room. Jin bends to remove his shoes, watching fondly as Yoongi sets Jimin down, bending to help him takes his own off. Wiggling his toes, Jimin gasps as Yoongi places a pair of children’s slippers down.
“Piu Piu!” Jimin shouts, hands shooting out to grab one.
He brings it to his chest, cuddling the slipper; Yoongi squeals, squishing Jimin’s cheeks gently. The toddler giggles, showing the slipper to Jin in excitement.
“Hyung! It’s Piu Piu!”
“Oh man, you love Piu Piu!” Jin says, coming over to straighten Jimin’s little hat.
Once he’s able to get Jimin’s slippers on his feet, Yoongi is quick to scoop him back up, holding him away from Jin. Scoffing, Jin ruffles Yoongi’s hair, grinning as he flees to the kitchen. Following after them, Jin grabs a sippy cup from the cabinet, watching as Yoongi struggles to grab the apple juice and hold Jimin at the same time. Shaking his head, Jin bats his hands away, taking the juice bottle–Yoongi would kill him if he interrupted their snuggles, the younger already dreading rejoining their friends.
“Yoonie, Yoonie-hyung,” Jimin says, tapping on Yoongi’s chest, “I saw a bitterfie today.”
“Oh man, what kind of butterfly,” Yoongi says quietly, smiling at the boy.
“Yeah, a pretty bitterfie,” Jimin nods, serious the way only toddlers can be.
Capping the sippy cup, Jin hands it to his brother, cooing as Jimin smiles at him sweetly. He and Yoongi start to walk towards the living room, Yoongi’s feet dragging slightly. Chuckling, Jin goes in first, the others quickly noticing.
“Hyung, hey!”
“Jin-hyung!”
“Where is he?!”
Taehyung barrels past Jin, sparing him a small smile. He practically tackles Yoongi in an effort to grab Jimin, the toddler screaming in happiness. Hoseok shrieks from the couch, being held back by both Jungkook and Namjoon; Yoongi pouts, watching as Taehyung peppers Jimin’s face in kisses. Jin grins, snapping a few photos of the two.
Taehyung bounces Jimin, settling the three-year-old on his shoulders; Hoseok is practically vibrating on the sofa, smiling at the toddler. Jimin waves at him, little cheeks bunched up and hat askew.
“Hobi-hyung!”
Hoseok coos at the toddler, wiggling his hand free from Namjoon’s hold to wave back. Taehyung shimmies them over, Jimin giggling above him. Jin winces as Jimin tugs at Taehyung’s hair, though the young man barely reacts beyond breathing heavily through his nose. Patting Jimin’s legs, Taehyung starts to lift him, plopping the toddler in Hoseok’s lap a few moments later.
“Ah, my little Jiminie’s a pumpkin! How cute is that!”
“Hobi-hyung, I got juice and Piu Piu!” Jimin says proudly, snuggling back into Hoseok’s chest as he shows off his sippy cup and slippers.
The others let out collective exclamations, playing it up for the toddler. Jimin beams at them, legs kicking in excitement. Smiling, Jin settles on the ground, watching his friends humor his little brother. It was difficult to adjust to, at first–his mother remarrying; being eighteen years older than his brother; Jimin being a sweet, but needy little thing. But the others. They’ve been great–helping out when they can, changing plans to include Jimin, never making Jin feel bad for cancelling or bailing or not wanting to go out.
“Kookie-hyung, do you want juice, peas?”
Jungkook laughs, pulling Jimin’s hat off to smooth out his hair, “Ah, no thank you, Jiminie. That’s your juice.”
Jimin nods, mumbling ‘my juice’ under his breath. Namjoon snickers, slipping to sit next to Jin. He nudges the older man, tilting his head towards the others. Jin shakes his head, a fond smile on his face. They sit there, watching as the others coo and coddle Jimin, the three-year-old lapping it up. Eventually they simmer down, their attention going to the television, Nightmare Before Christmas paused on the screen.
Jimin settles down, sprawled half in Yoongi’s lap (Jin doubts it was a coincidence, given Yoongi’s hand tangled in the toddler’s hair) and half in Hoseok’s. Taehyung pouts at them before grinning, bopping Jimin on the nose until he laughs; he ends up cuddling into Jungkook’s side, staring at the movie fondly. Jungkook snorts at his hyung, gently shoving his face away, teasing. They watch the movie for a while, Namjoon lowering the volume once they notice Jimin’s fallen asleep.
“Thank you for this,” Jin says quietly, turning to look at all of them.
Hoseok smiles at him, running his hand up and down Jimin’s back. Yoongi is nodding off, big hand held captive by both of Jimin’s tiny ones. He gives Jin a brief nod, eyes slipping shut a moment later. Taehyung leans forward, patting Jin’s head; Jin snorts, batting his hand away. Taehyung winks, cuddling into Jungkook’s side again. The young man shushes him, eyes trained on the television–Jin doesn’t feel too bad about it, he knows this is Jungkook’s favorite movie. Namjoon is snoring softly next to him, curled up on a throw pillow.
“I know it’s not how we used to spend Halloween, so I’m just…I’m glad you guys are here, and that you like Jiminie so much.”
“Aish, hyung, we love Jiminie,” Hoseok murmurs, rolling his eyes, “and we love you. Of course we don’t mind.”
Heart squeezing fondly, Jin runs a finger over Jimin’s eyebrow as he snuffles in his sleep. He really is glad, thankful–he loves all of them so much. Leaning back against the couch, he lets his eyes slip shut, the soft sounds of Jimin’s breath lulling him to sleep.
