"Hey, Y/N." You turned to look at Souichi, who had been oddly quiet up until now. "Do you have a type?"
"Huh? Why do you wanna know?" You immediately responded. Souichi wasn’t really the type to talk about love or dating, so you were actually extremely confused by his sudden question.
"I don’t know. I was just thinking, you don't really go gaga over any idols or pop stars like every other girl does. And when you do claim to like someone, it's always a disgusting yokai, like Nezumi-Otoko or something. I'm just curious as to whether or not your mind is developing normally." You couldn’t help but laugh at Souichi’s response. Although it was true that you mostly showed an interest to non-existing beings, that didn’t mean you weren’t interested in the boys around you.
"Ho~? You were thinking about me?" You brushed your shoulder up against the black-haired boy who walked beside you, playfully teasing him like you always did.
"Stop! Forget it. I'm not interested anyways." Souichi moved to the side, just barely avoiding physical contact with you. He always got bitter whenever you tried to have fun with him like this.
"Fine. Fine. I'll tell you." You looked up into the sky as you carefully thought about what qualities you looked for in your ‘dream guy’. "I guess I like boys who are caring, a bit mysterious, and have the same hobbies as me?"
"Hmm~" Souichi let out an uninterested sigh. "And what about the artificial stuff?"
"Artificial?" You repeated.
"You know, physical attributes. Height, build, all that artificial stuff people change all the time."
"Oh! Well, I never really thought about that before. But, I guess I’m into Soushoku Danshi's? For some reason, boys who are pale, skinny, and moderately tall sound kinda cute. Like a vampire, but without the whole ‘being dead’ or ‘brutally murdering people for their blood’ part. Haha" You answered, this time not getting a response from Souichi at all.
You felt kind of awkward. Maybe you shouldn’t have been so descriptive.
Just before you could change the subject, Souichi asked you another question.
"And what if he's Japanese?" He asked, keeping his gaze to the ground.
"I don't really care about nationality. Although, it would be nice if he knew a thing or two about Japanese folklore. Or maybe if he knew about the key differences between Japanese and foreign horror cinematography."
"Hmm~" Although Souichi had his head slightly turned away from you, you could still distinctly see that he was smiling.
A sly smile spread your lips as you thought of another way you could tease Souichi once more.
"You know, I also like boys who have slightly wavy black hair." Souichi quickly turned and looked at you, his wide eyes giving away just how surprised he was by your sudden statement.
Keeping your gaze away from him, you continued. "And boys who act sick, but really aren't. It's kinda cute, because they’re obviously doing it for attention." Finally, you turned and looked Souichi in his eyes "And boys who suck at magic~"
You laughed as Souichi’s flustered expression quickly turned into one of annoyance. "Hey! What are you trying to say!" He rearranged the nails in his mouth so that a few stuck out through his teeth. "Don't make me nail you to death!"
"Ah~! I love boys who say things that can be taken in an erotic way~" A blush spread across Souichi’s cheeks as he finally understood what he had said.
"That's it! I'm cursing you tonight for sure!" You stuck out your tongue to Souichi and started to run. He quickly followed behind, blowing a couple of nails in your direction, but ultimately missing by a long shot.
Even if you say it straight to their face, boys just don't get the hint.
