Work Text:

They sat in their usual hangout, the bar right outside their college campus. Jin had dragged Namjoon away to get drunk and bitch about life, and like always Namjoon had let himself be dragged.

"Namjoon-ah..... Do you.... Do you think I can go against my family if I wanted to?" SeokJin asked quietly, his cheek smushed against the table and slurring his speech, like a baby's.

Namjoon looked on wordlessly, contemplating his reply and supressing the mighty urge to pull at SeokJin's cheeks. "If I tell you, what will you do for me?"

"Our bromance will deepen~" SeokJin raised his head and burst into laughter, slapping Namjoon's thigh and clapping like a retarded seal.

The only one who could trounce SeokJin in buffoonery was Drunk SeokJin. Namjoon tried to hold back and act exasperated, but it was impossible to not laugh along. And it hurt, dammit. It hurt him enough to make him want to cry. Holding back the lump in his throat when he saw SeokJin laughing and smiling but realised he couldn't have him, hurt him much more than he was willing to admit even to himself, forget about admitting it to a third person, or worse, SeokJin himself. The eternal doom of one-sided love.

"I'm protecting you. You can do it." He replied softly.

Namjoon had half-expected Seokjin to miss his words in all that drunken laughter. But Jin didn't. He heard him loud and clear. Maybe because he wasn't as drunk as he'd led Namjoon to believe.

SeokJin's laughter died down, and he stared, wide eyed and flushed. Then he punched Namjoon lightly on his shoulder, laughing again. "Look at you hmm, what a dependable hoobae you are naa~ C'mon, call me hyung." He threw his arms around Namjoon, catching him off-guard. Namjoon flinched and jerked backwards.

"Jin!" He tried to untangle himself, but SeokJin had already firmly grasped on and wasn't willing to let go. "You-You're drunk. We're leaving."

"I want to drink some more!" SeokJin whined, digging his feet into the ground.

"No, that's enough for today, we're leaving now, Jin." Namjoon's heartbeat roared in his ears; for a second back then he had thought SeokJin was leaning in to kiss him and-

"Fine then!" SeokJin threw up his hands, pouting. "Call me hyung and we'll leave!"

Namjoon pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. "Hyung, can we please leave now?"

SeokJin's pout faded, only to be replaced by a radiant smile. He put his hands forward. "Carry me."

Namjoon all but rolled his eyes. Grabbing hold of SeokJin's arms, he began dragging him out of the bar, Jin's pearly laughter ringing in his ears.

II.

"Namjoon-ah~" Jin whined.

"Why are you like this." Namjoon sighed, feigning annoyance.

"It's always the same with the two of you, isn't it." Jimin laughed.

"That's because you don't love me, Namjoon-ah." Jin declared in a forlorn voice.

"We're literally MARRIED! What else do you want me to do to show that I love you?!"

"Then WHY won't you take me to that fried chicken place even though you PROMISED you'd take me and I've been begging you to take me there for three days now?” SeokJin yelled, stomping his feet.

Namjoon narrowed his eyes. "WHO was the one who binged on fried chicken and had to spend last week bed-ridden?!"

"Just say you DON'T love me and GO!!"

"FINE THEN! We're going there right NOW!"

"YAY!" SeokJin glomped him and rushed out of the room. "Getting my jacket!"

Namjoon flopped down on the couch, completely exhausted. Jimin finally controlled his laughter and asked, "Why do you act as if you're annoyed, when you're actually enjoying yourself? You've spent years pining for him. Isn't this what you wanted?"

Namjoon leaned back. "Doesn't mean I cant get tired, does it now." Then he chuckled. "But I wouldn't have it any other way."

"Naah, you wouldn't. "Jimin agreed. "You love him far too much for that."

Jin stood outside the room and waited, his face red and his heart mushy.

He sensed the pause and burst into the room. "Are we ready or what! Let's go!"

"So much drama for some fried chicken, goddamnit." Namjoon smiled and shook his head and like always, let himself be dragged by Jin.

Notes:

I just..... Love these two so much.... I'm in tears whenever I think about them.... Why don't they just get married already dammit.... 😭❤❤❤❤❤
