Work Text:
The Demon King of Salvation stared down at his hands, vision hazy and trembling yet he could clearly make out how red blood was staining his pale digits and dripping down. It wasn’t his own blood but the fables and memories of those struck down by his sword. The horns on his head had been the result of his status being known yet they scared the ones who came across him. His majestic black wings seemed just as threatening as he soared over the plains. He had endured so many years of this Ruined World, so many of his friends had fallen yet he kept going on, for them and himself. Han Sooyoung, Gilyoung, Lee Jihye, they were no more. Yoo Sangah had moved on to keep peace where she could as she cared for Shin Yoosung. Jung Huiwon and Lee Hyunseung had also gone their separate ways but made sure to pop in to ask if he was alright, but even then, there were way more lonelier nights than others.
And Yoo Joonghyuk.. He had lost his sister Yoo Mia near the end of scenarios and used that grief and anger to overcome everything else, but he no longer came into the Company. He said no goodbyes before leaving, without turning back.
“Well done on clearing the sub-scenario! Your prizes will be given out right away. As expected of the ‘Demon King of Salvation!’” Bihyung cheered loudly as even more donations were raining in from the constellations at the victorious result.
“Don’t call me that” The reader murmured quietly.
“Huh? Oh you wish to be called something else?”
[The Constellation ‘Sun Wukong’ likes the title ‘Demon King of Salvation!’]
[The Constellation ‘Abyssal Black Flame Dragon’ is shouting out for the ‘Constellation’ to accept his cool titles’]
[... Prince of the Underworld!!]
[ Apostle.. Apostle! ]
[ The Oldest Dream ]
He slumped to the ground, falling to his knees in front of the Dokkaebi and countless number of constellations who stared at him in shock.
“You all think of me as some sort of Great being! But I'm only human, I bleed when I fall down. I'm only human! I crash and I break down.Your words in my head are knives in my heart. This world builds me up but I only fall apart because I'm only human!”
His screams echoed for all the worlds to hear, all the pain he had gone through to get to where he was, the grief, the losses, it was all so evident in the way his words pierced into their hearts. Kim Dokja was suffering just as a human would and almost everyone had forgotten. His words would be left ringing and so would his anguish.
Humans can only hold on for so long.
