Chapter Text
"Cold..." The Doctor mutters, he drops his pen and rubs his hands for a second. Feeling the heat return to his hands, before taking a sip of his morning coffee. It was a cold weekend and yet the Doctor decides to use this week to get work done, how paperwork piles up to his office after weekends baffles him, but he rather not know how it end up there lest an unnecessary headache might occur. He picks up his pen again and work once more. Taking every sentence, paragraph into account. Thinking if he should sign it or reject it, thinking if this would benefit Rhodes Island and its Operators or not, or maybe consult someone with a particular contract.
He was ingrained and focused to his work that he didn't hear the door open, or the footsteps growing louder, or the first fake cough, or the second.
But he definitely noticed and felt a gentle smack on the top of his head.
"A-ah?" The Doctor shakes his head and looks up, staring at him was Kal'tsit. A look on her face that expressed mild disappointment with a mix of anger, "Kal'tsit, I...didn't see you there."
"Doctor...did I not tell you to take a break every weekend?" Kal'tsit reminded him, raising an eyebrow, a hand on her hip. Practically glaring down at the Doctor, "May I remind you that you fainted one time after overworking yourself?" The Doctor was about to explain himself but Kal'tsit places a finger on his lips. Or rather, pressed his mask,
"Don't even try. Now...drop that pen, stand up and go to the break room and relax there." Kal'tsit ordered, she lets out a sigh, "Please?"
The tactician sighs, he vividly remembers the event, had to stay in the infirmary for three days. Kal'tsit was beyond livid when she heard about the incident, more so when the Doctor waved it off as a 'minor setback' to his health. "Alright, if you say so." The Doctor stands up, setting aside the papers before placing a paperweight on top of it. He grabs his coffee mug and gave a small nod to Kal'tsit.
[10:02 PM]
A small yet satisfied smile spreads across Kal'tsit's lips before motioning the Doctor to follow her. Both of them left his office in peace, locking the door before heading to the breakroom, with a glance, the Doctor looks outside from a window, it was raining rather hard yet not a single thunder could be seen or heard.
"Did you had a good rest last night, Doctor?" Kal'tsit asked out of the blue, looking at him at the corner of her eyes. The Doctor quietly nods, a small sigh came from Kal'tsit, "Good to know then...and are you prepared for your trip to Siesta?"
"I'm not going." The Doctor quickly answers with no hesitation.
Oh, now this was a surprise. A trip to Siesta would send some people jumping in joy, while the Doctor flat out rejected the invitation. "And...why is that?" Kal'tsit asked.
"You're not going, so I'm not going." The Doctor replies, then a silence reigned between the two as they both arrived at the breakroom, it was empty, considering most of the Operators seemed to want to go to Siesta, a few stayed back to perform their studies.
"I see...interesting." Kal'tsit noted, she sat on one of the free couches and motions the Doctor to sit next to her, who obliges and sat close to her.
"It's cold." The Doctor spoke quietly, a radio played in the breakroom, it seemed to be an old love song called "100 years" sung by a man only named George.
"It is..." Kal'tsit replied quietly, the two was silent for a bit, before The Doctor scooches close to Kal'tsit, arms touching each other. A minute passes, both of them only sat quietly before Kal'tsit rests her head at his shoulder, gently wrapping an arm around him, in which the Doctor wraps his arm around her in return.
"...This is better. It feels warm now."
Kal'tsit smiles before closing her eyes.
"It feels warm with you, Doctor."
