Work Text:
Akutagawa looked over at his partner, who's completely exhausted.
After finishing another mission, the two boys decided to walk home together.
It wasn't unusual for them to walk together, even if they promise each other that they'd be at each other's throats, they still like to talk to each other, of course they'd deny it, but they really enjoy each other's company.
As they were walking by a wooden bridge, they both stopped walking and talking as they heard meowing from one of the trees by the end of the bridge.
Atsushi gasps, "A cat's stuck!"
Akutagawa just dead pans, "Okay."
Atsushi rolled his eyes in reply and quickly ran to the tree.
The cat was positioned where if you made a silly mistake, it'd fall on the water, it was meowing and hissing hard, it was clearly in discomfort.
Atsushi tried his best to go around the tree, without slipping.
"I could use a LITTLE help here!" the younger man grunted.
Akutagawa just scoffed, "You could've let it fall. It would land on it's feet."
"You are the most horrible dog person I have ever met! Even a dog person would help me out here.."
If Akutagawa was a dog person then Jinko wouldn't be so Jinko at all.
He literally likes Atsushi,
who is part cat????
Akutagawa looked offended, and so he helped. He made the rashoumon hug Atsushi's waist so it would support him as he tried to carry the cat from the branch.
It was just then when he realized Atsushi's waist was thin as fuck.
"It would be nice if I could wrap my arms around him," Akutagawa silently thought.
He found himself imagining what it would actually be like to hold Atsushi, it would feel really nice.
He was stuck in his imagination he didn't even realize Atsushi had fallen into the water.
"What the hell?!?!" Atsushi yelled from below.
"Oops." he muttered to himself.
Akutagawa just looked at him, smirking, "I'd help you out but I'm not much of a cat person myself, Jinko."
"W-Wait!! Come here! Akutagawa!! What the fuck?!"
Akutagawa fakes a cough to cover his mischievous grin, and walks away.
"Akutagawa!!!" Atsushi screamed. "I'm sorry!!"
It was no use, he couldn't see Akutagawa anymore.
He looked at the cat who was just staring back at him.
"Hey. I helped you earlier, go chase that weirdo for me, will ya?"
The cat didn't even bother answering, it just meowed.
"If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have fallen in here!!!"
Akutagawa thinks it's adorable how Atsushi was now yelling at the cat he offered to help, and so he made his way back to the bridge to find a nearby dock.
He finds one, but it's ridiculously far from the bridge, so he'd have to pull Atsushi with all his strength, good lord.
Akutagawa peeked his head from above and smirked at Atsushi, who is now pouting like a child.
"Get me outta here!" Atsushi pleaded
"I thought you knew how to swim?" said Akutagawa as the rashoumon crept up from behind him, he put all his strength left into pulling the boy out of the water.
"I do, but I can't climb high things!"
"Very much like a cat."
"Whatever."
Akutagawa threatened to drop him again so Atsushi looked away, completely annoyed.
As he was pulled out of the water he let out a relieved sigh and thanked Akutagawa.
"You're not as heavy as I thought you were."
"You're heavier than me," Atsushi joked.
Akutagawa just nods and looks Atsushi up and down.
Atsushi was soaking wet, he looked ridiculously dishevelled.
His tie was nowhere to be seen and his shirt was see thru, his pants were soaked wet you can see the shape of legs, he might as well be naked.
You could only imagine whose little tiny junior popped out.
Atsushi went back near the tree to pick up the cat that just watched him fall.
"You're a horrible kitty, you're just like Akutagawa over there." said Atsushi as he talked to the cat and pointed at Akutagawa.
The cat just meowed in reply.
-
Atsushi looked like a weirdo, to say the least. He was soaking wet, carrying and talking to the cat.
Akutagawa felt the need to cover the boy up and so he offered him his coat.
Atsushi was startled but didn't refuse, he then wrapped the cat in Akutagawa's coat.
"What the fuck?"
"What do you mean?"
"It was for you."
Atsushi blushed at what the older man had just said.
"O-Oh.. was it? well the cat needs it more than I do.."
"You are a cat."
"Cheeky bastard." he whispered to himself.
Akutagawa just chuckled at Atsushi, which caught the Atsushi's attention, he's never seen Akutagawa chuckle, his eyes were suddenly beaming at the older.
"His laugh is adorable." Atsushi thought to himself.
"Just fucking wear it." said Akutagawa as he caught Atsushi's staring.
"A-Alright.."
Atsushi slowly let go of the cat and wiped some fur that was left on Akutagawa's coat, and he put it on.
He was just a little bit smaller than Akutagawa, their size and height difference were barely noticeable but Akutagawa thought Atsushi looked extremely small in his coat, as if Atsushi had just shrunk. He thought he looked adorable in it, and it's not like he's never seen Atsushi in his coat before, but for some reason something feels different.
Atsushi knelt down and pet the cat even more. Once it got enough pats and rubs it walked away, Atsushi looked at Akutagawa and smiled.
"You're not a dog person, are you?"
"If you were a dog, I'd be one."
