Work Text:

Eraserhead was certain this was one of his weirdest assignments yet.

Take out a drug ring? Fine, no problem.

Be the bodyguard of an idol group? Idols aren't his cup of tea, but somebody had to do it.

Act as a salesman for a bed commercial? Hey, as long as he got to sleep, he was up for it.

But searching for and stopping a boy who not only had cat ears and a tail, and the ability to turn into a cat, but also the ability to control gravity? With said Quirk becoming stronger if he was in cat form?

Eraserhead liked cats, but if he had no other choice, he'd stay away from this particular kitty.

Regardless, he was searching the Musutafu Municipal Park, the last place where the "gravity cat", as people called him, was seen.

He walked around the area, making sure to pay close attention to any purs or cats he encountered.

Eventually, he found something: a green cat searching on a toppled trash can's content, it's tail moving left and right obliviously.

"Hey."

The cat flinched and burst into smoke, it dispersing soon after to reveal a small guy with cat ears and a tail. He turned to face Eraserhead, calmly and awkwardly spitting out the trash as he and the Pro-Hero shared an awkward glance at each other.

"... So, uh, are you the "gravity cat" I've been told about?"

"Depends; why do you wanna know?"

"I'm a Pro-Hero," Eraserhead calmly answered. "I was given the task to locate the cat and take it somewhere safe."

The boy flinched. "You're gonna arrest me?!"

"That's not my job; I just have to take you to the police station so that you can be kept in a small, secure location," Eraserhead folded his arms. "I was told your Quirk is far too potent and volatile to be left alone."

"Yeah," the boy sighed as he casually used his Quirk to put the trash can back in place. "My Quirk's kinda scary. Especially when I turn into a cat."

Eraserhead scratched his head. "Well, I should probably get you to your parents first. It's the least I can do. So, where's your mother, kid?"

"In a better place."

Eraserhead paused. Did this kid just seriously tell him his mother was dead with the same emotional response one would while half-assedly answering a question?

"A-And your father?"

"Far away from Mom."

"... As in, he's alive?"

The boy shrugged. "He's not here, that's all I really know."

Now Eraserhead was seriously wondering what the hell was up with this kid's family.

"Okay, how about an address? Do you know where you live?"

"I don't live anywhere anymore," the boy shrugged. "Not since Mom went to a better place."

Eraserhead took out his phone, and quickly dialed a number.

"Yes, Tsukauchi-kun? I believe I've found the Gravity Cat... What, you want a picture?"

Eraserhead looked at the boy, then took a picture of him, the cat boy tilting his head as the conversation continued:

"There, I sent you an image, can you confirm he's the one I'm looking for?... Okay, perfect, now, this kid told me his mother's not around, neither is his father, and he apparently doesn't have an address either. Yes, for all intents and purposes, he's homeless."

The boy stood up and walked closer to Eraserhead, tilting his head as the man continued:

"I had that idea too... Wait, why me?!... Of course I like cats, but this is no ordinary cat person we're talking about!...... Well, when you put it like that, I guess I could help him rein in his power... Fine, Tsukauchi-kun, you win. I'll deliver him to the police station first, get everything sorted, and see how things go from there. Okay, thanks again."

With a click, Eraserhead pocketed his phone, and turned back to the boy:

"Okay kid, we're heading to the police station, and if things go well, we'll head to the adoption center next."

"Why?"

"Because I'm going to adopt you."

"... Why?"

"Because you have a volatile Quirk that could endanger people if you don't train it properly. I may not be the best teacher, but I know decent instructors, and if the worst case scenario comes, I can nullify your Quirk outright."

Eraserhead extended his hand forward.

"So, what do you say, kid?"

The boy looked at the hand, turned back to Eraserhead, then shook it.

"Good, now, before we go, what's your name? You got one of those, right?"

"Yeah... My name is-"

Juryoku Midoriya! Quirk: Gravity Cat! Besides the cat ears and tails, and the ability to turn into a cat, he can control gravity, the power of said control becoming twice as strong when he's in cat mode!
