Workplace Animosity

Summary:

William got caught in the crossfires of bitter rivalry but it's none of his business; he just has deliveries to make.

Work Text:

His huge duffel bag containing food in one arm, William showed his ID to the security at the front desk. It'd been an incredibly busy day, and William was ecstatic for his shift to finally be over. His final deliveries were to this major modelling agency.

As he ascended the steps, he double-checked that he had everything that was requested for in his duffel bag, before nodding to himself in relief. Maybe they'd give him a tip and he could get away with ordering takeout tonight. Still, it was pretty odd for a modelling agency to be ordering junk food like this at 11pm, but that was none of his business.

"Meituan Takeout," William bellowed, shifting the duffel bag onto his other arm as he peered into the room filled with makeup artists working steadily on their assigned models. "Deliveries of a KFC bucket and McDonalds McFlurry and fries."

"That'd be mine-"

Two voices called out at the same time before the atmosphere in the room quickly grew tense, and William was pretty sure he could slice the tension with an unsharpened chicken bone.

"Norton."

"...Vera."

The two top models of this modelling agency gave each other the iciest glares William's ever seen. Vera pulled her gaze away, ending their staredown as she puffed air through her nose haughtily.

"I see you still reek of that frozen nuggets smell, hm?"

"How would you know what kind of odour frozen nuggets have if you didn't sell them yourself?" Norton quickly retorts, huffing as he turned towards William with cash in hand. "My McFlurry and fries, if you please."

Ah, now it all made sense. Right in front of William stood the two brand representatives for two popular fast food chains. He'd heard the rumours that the sales for both companies had more than doubled since using those two models as their face, but he didn't think the competition would extend to the workplace.

"The KFC bucket is for you, ma'am, correct?" William sought to verify, pulling out the bucket of chicken carefully as he waited for her response.

"Yes, and here. Keep the change," Vera handed him a hundred dollar bill before sashaying off, her bucket of chicken in hand.

Norton rolled his eyes at Vera's one-upping antics and handed William another fifty on top of the delivery charge, and took off with his McFlurry and fries in hand.

William could barely conceal the giddy smile on his face as he rushed downstairs. He didn't really care much for their workplace drama, he was just stoked he could order a pizza tonight with the big tips he got!
