Work Text:
Everything's so grey lately. So foggy. Time passes too quickly but also not at all. Days don't feel like days, they feel like weeks. Months. It's so exhausting.
You just feel like sleeping forever.
A gentle knock at your door snapped you out of your trance. How long were you staring at the ceiling? How long has it been since you moved at all?
"Come in," your voice was grating to your own ears, rough and laden with exhaustion. Shigaraki poked his head in, sighed and approached you, sitting beside the curled up bump in the duvet.
"Hey," he started, trying his best to make his tone as gentle as possible. "...You haven't left your room in days."
No response from you.
"Have you even eaten anything?"
Still nothing.
Shigaraki carefully lifted the duvet to find you with your knees tucked against your chest, head buried into yourself. His heart ached seeing you like this. Shigaraki never wanted anyone other than you to know the softness he held for you.
You felt a hand against your back, rubbing gently. You let out a shaky sigh and moved closer to him, resting your head in his lap.
"...I'm sorry for worrying you." Your voice was wavering, you knew Shigaraki had so much to think about already. He didn't need another thing added to his list.
"I worry about you for a reason," he let out a sigh, "Come on, the League needs you and you can't do anything if you're not taking care of yourself."
Your arms wrapped around his waist, face nuzzling into his stomach.
"H-hey, what the fuck is that..." Shigaraki tried to keep the nervousness out of his tone as he squirmed, a blush spread over his pale cheeks. "Just... Get up so I can ask Kurogiri to make you something."
Slowly, you managed to sit up in your bed, rubbing your eyes and yawning. Luckily for him, your vision was still bleary with sleep so you didn't see the affection in Shigaraki's gaze.
He got up to leave, giving you space to make yourself presentable, only to feel your hand on his sleeve.
"...Thank you for caring about me," you muttered, averting your gaze in embarrassment. Shigaraki huffed contently before leaving your room.
"Hey," he said, halfway out of your room, "Don't take too long, okay? Everyone wants to see you." And with that, Shigaraki clicked the door shut behind him.
The grey that had tinged everything was gone, the fog in your head replaced with a warm fuzziness. You have people that care about you, you have people that love you. You have family, and you've never been so grateful.
