Chapter Text
The first thing he noticed was the white of the sheets, when he first visited Eijirou’s home. He remembered the longing he’d felt seeing them, how he ached to see the red locks of his imaginary lover spread across the purity of their comfort . He knew then, that he’d want Eijirou for a long time, and that the flimsy title of crush wasn’t fitting enough. Not anymore.
So he waited. Through springs warmth and summers burning heat; through autumns let down and winters cold shoulder, until he arrived where he is now . In spring again, hands intertwined in the same sheets he’d wanted so badly to sink into a year ago. In the background, a song, wistful and cold like fall air, looped, each word caressing Izuku's skin. He finds himself gazing at the sleeping form in front of him. The outline of brawny arms scarred from working, skin tanned and warm under his hands. His lover's red hair splayed across the pillows, dazzling and soft to the touch. As eye-catching as a cardinal taking flight. A sigh runs rampant from him as he scoots closer to his sleeping love, searching out his rosy mountain air scent. When settled, his lips meet the valley of his collarbone, reverent in it's actions.
Beautiful, he thinks. Beautiful in every way possible. And l ike magic, Eijirou’s eyes open, half-lidded crimson eyes catching the light and redirecting them into Izuku’s own .
‘Zu? Eijirou mumbles sleepily . Whad’ya doin’ up baby? He yawns, before kissing Izuku’s emerald curls. Izuku’s lips curl before he huffs out a Nothing, I missed seeing your face, kissing each scar on Eijirou’s body that he could reach . ‘ Always miss you. He insisted as he brushed a kiss over the last of his scars. ‘ Always care about you. I’m not gonna stop either. He finished, whilst kissing the fine line slashing against Eijirou’s nose.
Eijirou chuckled, cuddling him tighter. Thank you, baby. I’ll always care for you too. He whispered, using a finger to tilt Izuku’s head higher. And don’t you forget it. He says as he leans in for a chaste, but emotional kiss. The kiss lasts for as long as they can manage, before they both run out of breath and have to pull back. In which, he rolls away from Izuku and heads to the bathroom to finish getting ready for his first patrol. In the darkness, Izuku sits, wanting his warmth to surround him again. The absent sound of running water leaves him nostalgic; remembering their confessions. How they crashed into each other, lips trembling and heart pounding, out of both relief and fear.
Because they couldn’t lose each other. They'd never want to.
In the bathroom across the hall, the water shuts off with a definite wrsh as bare feet pad back to the main bedroom they share . Eijirou hums at the sight of Izuku, tangled in the covers, before sending him a quick upturn of the lips. One that hides years of meaning, one that cannot be translated (for it belongs only to them, together always, in every universe .) He reaches inside their shared closet, slipping on his hero costume, before returning to the bathroom to gel his hair . When he reappears, he appears with a breakfast for Izuku, and himself along with newly spiked hair.
Do you have to go so early, Ei? The question reverberates; the slight dejected tone of it sticking out like a sore thumb, no matter how hard Izuku tried to hide it . A secret emotion flickers in Eijirou’s eyes, before he leans down and captures Izuku’s lips for one last time before he leaves . Yeah, bunny, I do. He states fondly , eyes wrinkling at the corners.
Izuku pouts and groans before clinging to Eijirou’s arm. A little longer? I promise, Ei, I just want a little longer.
Eijirou snuffs humorously , then disentangles himself from his fiancé. Sorry, little bunny. I have to go. But! I will be back home in no time, ok? Izuku nods, and without further ado, Eijirou disappears from the room in a flurry of beauty.
Izuku’s lips turn up slightly, eyes closing as he falls backwards into his bed, thinking, Oh, how I love that man....
